I hate that note! Why, oh why did you have to make us feel so guilty for choosing any of the other three factions? Can my courier, with an intelligence of 10, ever hope to match his genius? (sob)

Katamariguy I feel the same way. "Dealing" with House when siding with a faction other then his own is one of those "I just can't do it" moments in New Vegas. I like it though becuase it means House's character was developed enough for people to feel loyalty to him. The other factions are okay but often times I'll start the game with the absolute intent to join the Legion, NCR, or Yes Man just to say that I've "played the game every way possible" but end up siding with House because I just can bring myself to betray him. :sadvaultboy: I've only sided with the Legion once other than House, he's too charasmatic and intellegent for me to think that anyone else has a better chance of rebuilding the Mojave and New Vegas.

Yes!

The first (and only, so far!) time I encountered this note I was filled with regret as it was further evidence of Mr. House being one of the coolest characters.

Also, I'm going to leave this quote from Lolita here:

"My very photogenic mother died in a freak accident (picnic, lightning) when I was three..."

The allusion to this in Mr. House's note was not only surprising, but also well implemented and subtle. No screaming "oh look we referenced a famous book!" but a nice almost-quote. And: it totally fits in-universe that Mr. House would of course have read his classics and, his personality and intelligence isn't far from Lolita's narrator, and as such it would be very in-character for him to reference this (amazing) book. So all in all, just another great detail in the writing of Mr. House's character. I love him. Great voice-acting, too.

Currently wrapping up a House-playthrough :-)

I can easily go around the Mojave killing everyone with a cool hat, but it's really hard for me to betray House. :cryvaultboy: Damn you Obsidian for making him so lovable! :swear:

I agree. Personally I am an NCR supporter and I don't think that Mr. House is the best choice for the people of the Mojave. But I just don't think he really deserves to die or suffer a fate worst then death like that...

There was originally going to be a peaceful solution for Mr. House if you side with the NCR in which he lets New Vegas get annexed by the republic in exchange for citizenship and the right to continue to run the Strip, here is a link to that note: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Offer_to_Permit_Annexation

Sadly it got removed for some reason.

Now to quote my least favorite man in teh wasteland, Caesar.

"The man certinally was full of himself."

Excuse my spelling, but that aside, I had no remorse. I still look fondly upon beating him wiht my fists.

You know, if this really bothered you, just disconnect him from the mainframe computer.

There. Now you know he's all alright in his little glass coffin. :celebration:

Narcissistic [censored]. That note made me wanna kill him again. He thought everyone would mourn his passing for 40 years or so.

Well like Boone said, "People die out there."

I was worried for a second I was the only person that wanted his head on a platter.
House was full of himself, he overestimated those in his controls loyalty and was not only surprised but angry when all three families started squirming. Long story short, vegas is better off with at least Caesar, who has a vision, then a jaded 200 something billionaire you thinks he can manipulate everyone.

I can kill House for the others, but I could never disconnect him. I tried to with one recently and his pitiful cries not to....I'm just not inhumane enough to leave someone like that, isolated, cold and seperated from everything for the rest of their prolonged life, no one deserves that.

Oh no, I've never even tried that :shakehead: , but it's o so satisfying to see the bastards head blown off.

The idea of an evil-Independent courier keeping him disconnected and coming down to see him every once in a while is cool idea though...

I think I disconnected him, left him there for day, and then killed him.

Well...chandler > everyone so yeah it works.

@ denvarte yeah I was meant to do it with my sadistic character, she's horrible, cripples people then chases them down, throwing the heads of their comrades at them and so on...

But...I just...it's horrible, I couldn't do it :(
I wouldn't have been able to do it with anyone though, even scum like Cook Cook...

It would have benefited both the NCR and House, as the NCR would get the tax revenue they desperately need along with House's pre-war tech knowledge, and House would be free to recruit in the NCR for assistance with his dream. On the downside House would have to pay taxes...initially...and would also be free to inject himself into politics at Shady Sands. He's wealthier and more powerful than any Brahmin Baron and would quickly become a major player in how the NCR is run, and likely leader of whatever lobby group represents manufacturers in Shady Sands. I suspect the Devs dropped it because it made for a too attractive ending...that also rendered the House ending superfluous...that they didn't want to be pressured to make canon. If I could have an ending where I could spare both House and the BoS, that would be the way I'd do it even if it means making Oliver and Kimball heroes. House would probably find a way to destroy them politically sooner or later anyway.

Y'know...I feel the same way about some groups with my characters. I couldnt do some of the quests. I felt sorry for my character...really. It made him feel so human to me..

I could honestly write a novel about every action my character did, and his reactions, as well as some backstory to him. I could never do that with Fallout 3..

At first I felt bad killing Mr. House. Anymore, however, I don't feel so bad, since he would have been a dictator (even if a benevolent one) who would have been ruthless enough to kill anymore who would have challenged his power. He ordered the Courier to wipe out the BoS. Would he also have ordered the Courier or his Securitrons to wipe out Goodsprings or another town if they wanted to declare their independence in the future?

Serves him right, bastard trying to escape the fate of death for 200 years deserve to die as painful as possible.
At least ghouls can't help it that they are immortal.
But House, he was a human who tried to cheat death, a damn coward is what he is.

Anyway, never read this not, anyone mind giving me a transcript of it? :)
