Has anyone had luck figuring out where the sudden micro-stutters are coming from? In 1.3 I had no lag or stuttering, 1.4 I am getting micro-stutters that seem to increase when looking around quickly and when moving. It's not enough for my FPS to drop just quick micro-second stutters but constant. Fraps shows me constantly around 45-60 FPS depending on the area and it never drops lower than that. Forcing V-sync on or off makes no difference.

I also noticed that with 1.3 I could have my Catalyst Control Center set with AA method: Super Sampling but now with 1.4 I get strange graphic issues and missing shadows unless I move the AA method slider down to Mutli-Sampling. Odd.

See my sig for specs.

Edit: I thought it worth mentioning that since 1.4 I have re-installed and am using NO mods but now getting CTDs which I never had in 1.3 with mods. :(

Hey guys anyone having problems with the quest ( A Cornered Rat ) that is located in ( The Ratway Warrens ) ?

Apparently when you talk to NPC "Esbern" dose't have voice audio, and the door doesn't open after fishing the conversation.

I don't know if someone can help me on this one either a member or a moderator.

Thanks
Chris

Any News About this Quest? And will there be a fix for all these bugs ?

My Courier Letters and Treasure Notes no longer list the locations. Instead, they cut off exactly where the locations should be stated:

Courier Letters read "To our respected investor, it seems our expedition to" and Treasure Notes read "I have almost found the " respectively. (The first should list a location, the second an enchanted object).
I'm noticed some other problems. After completing the Battle for Windhelm quest and traveling back to Whiterun, I now get Hadvar (the Imperial guy you met in Helgen and took you to Riverwood) coming through the front gate with sword drawn, runs up to me and talks like he's still in the battle. Keeps happening whenever I go back to Whiterun. Can't initiate conversation with him, he just makes more comments regarding Stormcloaks, etc.
Also, a minor one, grindstones now always have the sound of someone grinding something even if there's no one working on them.

I can confirm both of these. I was trying to remember if the courier letters were always cut off, but upon seeing this report, I now realize they weren't. And after the battle, Hadvar was actually at ease at first, then pulled his sword and now stares intently at the wall. I guess he's sure another Stormcloak will pop out any second... I think I've noticed the grindstone issue - I'll have to confirm that.

Ever since the second beta patch, or the final 1.4 patch, I've had a problem with severe lag popping up when I transition zones. It doesn't happen every time, but quite frequently. So if I fast travel, it might happen. Or if I load an interior (enter a building) or load an exterior. Basically there's a good chance of it happening whenever a new cell is loaded. My only option is to save the game and reload. Upon reload it's fine. This is severe lag - I can barely bring up the menu to save and exit. I've tried removing mods but so far it hasn't made any difference. And I'm running the same LO as before the final beta, although the mods have been updated.

I have noticed that after marrying Ysolda (pre 1.4 patch), she never slept at Breezehome or Proudspire. Even after 1.4 she refuses to use the main bedroom at Proudspire, she just sleeps in the cellar on the bedroll.

Fix it please Bethesda, I'm tired of roleplaying a Breton Battlemage with a bad case of Halitosis.

Use to have some CTD's without any error or game freezes every 20 min with the latest patch (1.4.21). When i have installed SKSE 1.4.10, everything went back to normal. Hope this helps someone.

Since installing 1.4, NPCs seem to get stuck occasionally. This quite reliably happens when Camilla Valsomething (in Riverwood) shows me the way to Bleak Falls Barrow. She starts to walk up the road, then stops, then turns around, and then just stands there twitching. Forever.

Followers also fail to get out of my way now. Several times I've had Lydia follow me through a door, stop in the doorway, and then refuse to move out of the doorway no matter how many times I bump into her. I have to give her an order to move before I can get through the door.

As i've stated in another thread. Whenever i look up into the sky i get black textures and it does the swimming animations when moving and it moves my character up into the air. I've tried everything, i also get the physics problem which causes objects to fly around a room when entering. I've tried using v-sync it solves my physics problem and i don't get above 60 fps but i get very slow mouse input. I've also tried a fps limiter but get very bad screen tearing. I'm at my wits end here, all i seem to get now when playing skyrim is bug after bug. Also this is an example of what i get, it flickers black textures and when it happens and i look up towards the sky it causes a water sound and the swimming animation to occur and my character swims upwards in the sky.

http://i.imgur.com/a7MKf.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/zA8Xh.jpg

This doesn't happen in any other game. It also flickers on and off, it doesn't happen for more than 1 second.

Thanks.

The game flat out does not support using ini tweaks to turn off Vsync. For some reason the physics code and the mouse movement code are directly tied in to the in-game implementation of Vsync, so turning it off typically results in some game breaking strange behavior. Your mouse moving slowly with Vsync on is also "normal," and is more of a pain as it moves slower the bigger the resolution you're playing in.

These things svck, but I doubt they're going to be able to fix them with a patch. It's not just your game having this issue, it's just how the game was made, though I certainly hope someone figures out a way to fix them :/

Hey guys ever since the new patch I cant start a new game. After I design my characters and shes brought to the chopping block the dragon just flies around and refuses to land, so the event never progresses. I tried doing it a few times but no dice.

I'm not loading up my save game since I only have the main quest left and the Cornered Rat quest doesn't work for me either, it never worked not even with the latest patch.

/edit

I've never used any mods or tweaked any .ini settings.

I've had this too but only when loading from a previous save file which was made right before you create your character. If I start a completely new game and go through the introductory animations again it works and the new save made at the same point works as well.

Repost from http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1341343-patch-14-20-30-min-crash-cycle/ thread:

I'm seeing this too.

core2 duo 2.66
Nvidia 8800 gts
3 gigs RAM
Win XP SP3

I know the specs aren't the greatest, but the game was running pretty well on "Medium".

Apart from the occasional random crash, I didn't have any real problems prior to the 1.4 patch. Now, every 20-30 mins the mouse starts to act up (sensitivity seems to drop drastically low) then the game freezes and can sometimes be quit via the Task manager and sometimes needs a hard reboot.

No mods installed; completely vanilla install.

This is purely conjecture on my side but I suspect that whatever optimizations they did to the code is pushing hardware a bit harder than before. This could lead to older systems running into heat problems or perhaps it's just a case of your hardware can't manage. You'll notice that most of the people who suddenly have more frequent crashes run the game on older hardware which is why I'm speculating this. Perhaps turn everything to the lowest settings and see if it improves? And check your temperatures. That's all I can think off unfortunately.

Hi,

this is my FIRST crash since 1.2, 1.3 and now 1.4
0 mods

climbing the 7000 steps and always at the same exact spot just behind the 2nd female npc that pray to the tablet i will get a "Skyrim has a unknown problem" then [Close Program]

the only walk around i did is the TLC 0 and try to fly pass that npc (without looking at her)

i never.....never ever crash or freeze on 1.3 or 1.2

no other bugs to report, hope to see no more!

I seem to have fixed my previously posted ~20 mins crash to desktop issue. Problem is, I'm not sure what I did...

I was having problems with a completely vanilla install of the game, with only .ini tweaks. I tried regenerating the .ini files and reapplying the tweaks, but still got the crashes. Then all of a sudden the crashes stopped, but I didn't change anything.

The only thing I can think of that I may have done is to rename my backup ini files. I had made copies of my old .ini files and left them in the same directory, still with the .ini extension. I thought maybe both the copies and the new .ini files might be getting picked up at the same time, so I gave the old files a new extension (effectively deleting them). It was around that time that my game stopped crashing completely.

Since then I've played for 3 days without a single crash. It seems completely stable now.

If you have copies of your old .ini files hanging around in the same folder as the new ones, try deleting them if you're experiencing CTD problems.

EDIT: Note that I was experiencing sudden crashes to desktop, with no errors at all. The game would just suddenly close and I'm back on my desktop again. If you are having other kinds of issues such as freezing or crashing out with error messages, then this may not solve your problems.

OK I need help.
I'm running a clean install of Windows 7 64bit and a clean install of Skyrim completely Vanilla.
Before reinstalling windows I was running the 1.4 beta patches and everything was fine, now however after the reinstall I'm getting some really strange behaviour.

First of all my FPS refuses to cap at the normal 60 FPS instead capping at 120, note this is with Vsync turned on.

The second and more troubling is that the physics inside the game are messed up, upon starting a new game when I'm being take to my execution the carriage I'm riding on goes spastic, by this I mean it literally performs a 90 degree flip the horse goes airborne for a while then it comes back to normal, rinse and repeat.

Included below is a DxDiag of my system

Still can't start "Season Unending" after killing/driving off Alduin in "Alduin's Bane".
Alduin's Bane is marked as finished in the journal, but neither Paarthurnax, Arngeir or Esbern have any new dialog to start the next quest.

Outside of the quest bugs. The problems I have that are most noitciable to me are. .

NPC and Animals drop out of the sky still. This has been a problem for me since release day.

What I notice different as far as a new issue is NPC try to cross rivers to attack you and get stuck and then dissapear on the oppisite side or even the side your on..this includes deers, elk, animals in general. The act like enderman from Minecraft.

Another new issue is when going inside houses, buildings in general. I spawn at the counter of a trader per se, or in the center part of the house right in front of a object. On the claw quest when going through the door that lead to the Nords Hall, It spawned me right in front of a center piece statue.

I remember seeing something about Khajiit caravan problems in another thread - since the new patch I've seen the caravan tents with no Khajiit, Khajiit with no tents, and the normal Khajitt with tents.

Just encountered this bug, looks like it hasn't been fixed in the 1.4 patch: Viinturuth may spawn a second time and become invisible.

Turned up my sound acceleration to full & haven't had a crash in awhile, however the sound lag still persists and the stuttering has taken on a whole new level.
My gameplay ends up being like this: runs like butter - stutter hitch - runs like butter - stutter hitch - over and over.
Anyone else with creative lab or realtek sound drivers having this issue?

if you use tcl to toggle collision off, quitting to main menu always causes CTD and quitting to desktop always causes runtime error crash

Striping of textures at medium distances that disapears as I get closer.

Flickering and seams in water textures during cloudy conditions. Does not always happen, probably about 30-40% of the time when it is cloudy.

When trying to enchant an improved ebony bow, putting the enchantment on it takes the sword back to it's default damage setting.

After choosing a dialog option, I I have to exit and re-enter to choose another dialog option (it just stays on the same one if I don't exit and return).
A similar thing happens when I change settings- I have to hover the pointer over the option above before I can click the option below it.

Performance is much improved, and only one C2D in 15 hrs of play while using mods (was getting several per session prior to update). A huge improvement, thank you for the update!

PC version 1.4.21.0, windows 7, directX 10.1 card, quad core
Basic attack does not work. Power attack does, both with the mouse and if I map my hands to keyboard keys. This is from a clean install, I've never been able to perfomr a regular attack.
