Repost of my answer to Gate Keeper's question from the previous thread:

Sure like can someone explain everything different from 360 to PC?
Im so confused on weapon drops and backpacks and hats and everything else

I read some stuff on the wiki but I am still lost.

Well, explaining all of the differences between 360 and PC would take too long.

See my previous post for an explanation of the weapon drops.

Usually, whenever someone refers to the backpack, they're just talking about the inventory screen.

The game's pretty easy to understand as you go along though. I just started playing yesterday and I'm starting to get the hang of it (with a good deal of help from the wiki of course).

Tell me then... what are the three cardinal rules of Spai Checkin'?

Spoiler
1: If you can't walk through a teammate, they're a SPAI.

2: If they bleed when a teammate shoots them, they're a SPAI.

3: If they're not doing anything but hanging around behind your teammates, they're a SPAI.

I would glady take the Tomislav off your hands check my backpack and let me know if there is something you want. Also to people interested I can trade a Liberty Launcher for the new shotgun.Valve should really put in an auction house. The games already one step from becoming a MMO, might as well just take it because they aren't fooling anyone.

I can't trade anyone unless I buy something from the store. I was planning on getting something cheap but apparently the increments are in $5. :(

Is there anyway to "gift" someone an item?

Yep, and I learned #1 the hard way last night when a spy was blocking a doorway and stabbed me.

I've found the most amazing crafting assistant: http://www.tf2crafting.info/

Just pop in your Steam ID or link to your community page, and it will scan through your backpack with a list of all the possible things you can craft. You can even tell it to ignore vintage or equipped items, etc. After you've selected the items you want to craft, it will then give the appropriate crafting steps to make it all. (For example, it would apparently take me 53 separate crafting operations to make a soldier's hat.)

I started playing today I pulled of some ninja stuff as a Spy. Stabbed a sniper while being chased buy by a pyro ran around the corner cloaked then stabbed him and the medic and heavy combo. I also headshoted a scout midjump with our intell and a sniper. I love this game.

Im debating wether or not to buy some of the starter kits cause I wanna buy something soon under 5$ but idk what be the best value.

If you are a spy, you MUST http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1100607 They are perfectly done and cover just about every aspect of playing the spy. They even taught me a few things I've never thought about or done before, and I've been playing spy since Team Fortress Classic.

I avoided Steam until last summer (during the run up to FONV), and when I grabbed most of the HL2 related goodies I didn't pick up TF2 - I figured the player expertise would be too far ahead of my own to be worthwhile. I'd say this was a mistake if it wasn't for the fact that avoiding it then got me a free copy last week. I've only played against bots so far (and boy do they do a poor job coordinating!) but I've had quite a lot of fun.

Hopefully in the near future I can give humans a go, but unfortunately I don't know when I'll have the free time.

Don't be too worried about the disparity in skill levels - just jump right in! TF2 is actually pretty forgiving in its learning curve, and the key thing is to try to work as a team, more than the individual skill of the players. Even a team of new players with a good balance of classes will easily steamroll a handful of veterans. It only gets frustrating if people select spies and snipers on an attacking map, when a medic or heavy could help them win the round instead. As long as you stick with your team and don't only play for your own ends, you can't go wrong. When in doubt, just spam more fire at the enemy. :D

What's the point of a medic charging another medic? Last night I was in a match and another medic started healing me, so I healed him and by the time we got to like 60% he gave up and went to play. What would happen if we both got to 100%?

Back when the ubersaw was added two medics could dominate because all it took was 4 hits to fully charge an uber. So they could get techinally infinite ubers and make them extremely difficult to stop.

EDIT: What a vague answer I gave.

Basically one medic would fully charge his uber. Then both medics towards the nearest enemies. The first medic would activate his uber while the second would attack with the ubersaw. When the firsts uber would run out they would switch and proceed to repeat until either the match ends or they can't get near any enemies.

If a regular heavy/medic combo is nigh-unstoppable, a heavy/medic/medic combo is a train of pain! :nerd: :nerd: :gun:

Two medics can keep each other alive much longer in the field, making drives last longer and the heavy just about untouchable. And two ubers going off back-to-back is more than enough to drive the enemy team right back to their spawn. One medic is a huge boost to any team, but two can be game winners.

Edit: Also as skooma posted above, the medic can be a surprisingly potent attacker. :P

Pro-tip: The crusaders bow is amazing. Deals damage based on the distance it travelled making it highly lethal at range and it can heal from a distacne aswell. It makes a very bad medic to be near because I don't actually play medic correctly when I use it :D

I actually find the new weapons largely over-rated. The default rocket launcher is still the best tool for the soldier, same with the default sticky gun and flamethrower. A couple come in handy in specific situations (the Direct Hit is amazing at taking out sentries, and spies certainly benefit from their new toys) but mostly it's just a personal playstyle thing - you find youself favoring certain tactics, and the new weapons add into that, but not to the point of breaking the game. Don't get discouraged. :)

I love the Direct Hit. It's all I use for the soldier. As a result I've become pretty accurate with it.
