The GPU is the part that controls graphics. A graphics card consists of a GPU, board, and other stuff.

You can't with a laptop. You need to get a different laptop.

And without mods, for the most part. You'll be able to only run limited mods, so long as they don't add too many scripts. No graphic replacers, though.

High settings, I hope, with my rig?

- nVidia 680i mobo
- GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB
- Intel E8400 Core 2 Duo 3GHz 6 MB Cache (been reading that I can OC this to 4GHz and it remains stable and cool).
- G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1000

Hi all.
My spec:
core i5 2500k 3.3 Ghz
Ram 6 Gb
Gtx 560 (non ti)
Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate
Question:
I tried to play an Ultra with AF 16 and AA 8.
In open world I have 28-33 FPS in Whiterum 30-38.
Why so low perfomance?
PS
Game version 1.3.10

Do you really need 8x AA? Can you even see a difference between 4x and 8x. Just what resolution are you running? If you're at 1080p, I don't see much beneficial reason to run 8x AA because it will take a performance hit.

your setup should get you some high settings

Hello lovelies

If I have

i7 quad core 2.66
XP 32 bit
GT 8800 (might be GTS or GTX, but basically, 3 yr old card)
3 GB ram

Which is the biggest system bottleneck?

Is it the aging graphics card, or is it XP? Is there any point in upgrading the graphics card without also moving to Windows 7 64 bit and buying a chunk of RAM?

Thanks :)

Take the latter. The CPU is fine for most things, though.

Skyrim requires a video card with T & L 3 (texturing & lighting) version 3,I believe.I had to research and upgrade my PC after I bought the game.It runs great for me with the Radeon Sapphire card I bought from Compusa and a 1X to 16X pcie adapter on my P4 3GHz w/ 2.48 GB RAM.

32-bit or 64-bit? Also, that GPU is seriously lacking.

WORSE than that. An Intel chipset is better, and *it*'s quite poor.

Windows XP Professional 32bit SP3
Pentium D 3Ghz 4M cache.
1 Gb RAM DDR 400Mhz
ATI Radeon HD 3450 512 Mb

Runs the game on low-mid. 10-30 FPS outside.

Just saying.
Anything better can obviously run the game. As long as its not an integrated graphic card.

2gb ram
9800gtx+ 512mb
Windows XP 32
running @1440x900

What settings could i run for constant smooth gameplay???(40-60fps)

What you have named is not "RUNNING" at all. That's at best, a very casual stroll of a walking pace, and several of AMD's Fusions blow that away, without needing a separate graphics card. With the correct drivers and careful setup, along with accepting extra low quality, even Intel's latest HD Graphics built into Sandy Bridge is better than an HD 3450.

Dell Inspiron Desktop

Processor: 2nd gen intel core i3-2120 (3.3 GHz)

Cache memory : 3mb

System memory: 6gb ( DDR 3 SDRAM)

Hard drive: 1TB (SATA 7200 rpm)

Graphics Card: Intel? HD Graphics 2000 ( will more likely be replacing with a after market graphics card)

OS: Windows 7 Premium (64bit)

Would this process properly run Skyrim if I replace the onboard graphics card with something better along the lines of a PNY NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 1GB GDDR3 PCI Express Graphics Card? or something a little better?

What does a 64bit OS get you that a 32bit OS doesn't?

Better use of memory, primarily. What I mean is, it can actually use everything. A 32-bit OS can use ~3GB or so. This cap is a combination of RAM and VRAM. A 64-bit OS, has a much higher cap and whose actual cap will vary based on how the memory addressing is done.

For reference, here's Microsoft's reference page of the memory limits for Windows: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa366778(v=vs.85).aspx

And I've removed the notice from my post.

Here we go:

The 520 is mainly a media card meant for things like HTPCs and not really for gaming.

Ok thanks, what about the pc it self? Would it be good enough if I got a gaming card to go with it?
