Oh yes. Taking away the sun, feeding of the souls of others. Not evil at all.
Evil is a perception basically on how one feels does an evil person acknowledge they are evil, my vampire does not view himself as evil even tho I myself see him as such. Vampires are more animalistic and there needs are almost the same as other hunters, my character views the none immortals as food the same way think of cows or chickens.

Forced? Nahh, you won't be forced.
You can choose to be evil, or you can choose to kill your own kind. Doesn't mean the Dawnguard will accept you...just means you'll be hated by everybody.
Surely you must realize that roleplaying such a vampire results in you being counted among all the other vampires who tried to resist this new faction and were slaughtered mercilessly by their overwhelming power.
Oppose the vampire lords and you die, unless you join the Dawnguard...except the Dawnguard doesn't allow vampires.

Lol, no really I'm sure the others here are correct in assuming that a stage 1-3 vampire will go unnoticed among the ranks of the Dawnguard. After all you remain neutral to everybody else.

This peaks my curiosity. What if we are already vampires? Will the dialogue be changed? Sort of how Alva knows the player is a vampire.

If anything, the Cyrodiilic Vampires might not even be "neutral", since they come off as power-hungry political manipulators and elitist Daedric worshipers.
If guess a subtle change in dialouge might happen if the player is already a vampire of a different strain. Even if the new vampires do generally hate or are enemies with the Cyrodilic Vampires, they'll probably offer to cure the player of their existing vampirism by giving them the new strain, just like how becoming a werewolf would cure you of vampirism.

In general, the Cyrodilic Vampires might agree with the New Vampires and cooperate with them to accomplish their goals or may be seen as inferior by the New Vamps. Its also possible that since most Cyrodilic Vampires live their lives in secret among mortals, they may not want to bring about an endless night because they enjoy mortal politics and affairs as well as the way their lives currently are. In the later two cases, its concievable that there may be vampires of other strains among the Dawnguard. Nothing we can do but speculate on their position right now.

Might be interesting to have a vampire hunting vampire though :P, like a Blade or Jander Sunstar character.

Wait, Sybille Stentor's a vampire? I literally had no idea! O_o

When/where/how do you find this out in-game? I always assumed she just had a sadistic side, and that's why people said you didn't wanna be a prisoner on one of her bad days.

As for evil vampires, I suppose if Sybille were evil she'd be killed, which means good vampires are possible, even if they still have to feed to survive. My character's a werewolf cos I like the idea of being one, and disease immunity is pretty awesome too, yet hes still a good guy.

I'm not sure if the Cyrodiilic vampires will even be involved. We had Movarth Piquine, but that was it. I would be pleasently surprised if they were included and explained a bit more.

You are right though, the Order are more inclined to sit back and watch while they profit as mortals wage wars against each other. Of course, they would be too busy fighting their own hidden vampire battles and politics against rival clans.

She feeds on prisoners, like the Pale Lady. We know for a fact that Janus Hassildor in Oblivion also feeds because he didn't slip into a coma and he actually says he embraced the changes of vampirism.

Yes, Sybille Stentor is a vampire. The official prima guide for Skyrim mentioned it before the game came out, and ingame there are many hints. We know she is a vampire also because she is listed under "vampire" in the creation kit and she uses vampiric drain. Not to mention she glows when you detect dead while everyone else doesn't. And when you use detect life, she does not glow.

Yes she is a vampire.

http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Sybille_Stentor

Though perhaps she can still be considered evil. Because every time she feeds on a prisoner, she kills them ( don't know in TES canon if there is a way for vampires to feed without killing/turning people). And do every prisoner deserve death? Perhaps the rapist and murderers to. But if someone is in prisoner for stealing something, or some lesser crime, it isn't right for them to be fed and killed. Maybe she only feeds on the prisoners who are going to be killed anyways for some reason. Therefore regardless of whether she would feed on them or not, they were going to die.

Less evil then your average vampire? True, but i don't know if calling her "good" would be the right way to go, maybe....maybe not.

Ain't Vampires evil to begin with? I mean in order to feed they have to kill other Humans, or turn them into cursed beings. We don't have any examples of good vampires, and few neutral ones.

Yeah, she most likely kills them. The Pale Lady in Oblivion fed on prisoners periodically in three days. But before third day ended, the prisoners were never seen again. It is obvious they had them killed so she would not procreate.

Edit: Sybille is a throwback to Skingrad's vampires. She feeds on prisoners like Mina(The Pale Lady) and she sends you on a quest to kill barbaric vampires just like Janus Hassildor did.

So its impossible then for vampires to drink from a human without killing/turning them? And even if it was possible in canon for vampires to feed without killing/turning, vampires that kill to feed can still be explained as vampires just wanting to get more blood that way so it satisfies there cravings more.

Nice, I guess now there's new meaning when she says that those vamps she sends you to kill are barbaric and like animals "while I prefer finery."

Gameplay wise it is possible. Lore is a bit hazy on how infectious vampirism can truly be. But most vampires kill their prey or keep them around as cattle. The Quarra outright slaughters their victims and feeds on them with an orgiastic abandon. The Volikhar was said to freeze the blood of their victims and drag them under the ice. The Cyrodiilic vampires prefer to feed on sleeping people, and their cravings is much lesser than the other ones since Clavicus Vile modified their bloodlust. They like keeping their victims around as cattle(Deepscorn Hollow) and even found that keeping victims catatonic is wise rather than outright draining them like Seridur did.

Why would you roleplay as a good Vampire and not get immediately cured?

One of my characters became a vampire some time ago, after a vampire slaughtered his whole family. He too, nearly died that night, but tried to pursue the creature. He pursued him for three days, suffering from wounds and unaware of the disease coursing through his veins. On the third night of exploring dark caves, he finally succumbed to the disease, just as the sun was starting to rise. He awoke that night as a vampire, and hates being one, as it's unnatural and a permanent reminder of his failure to protect his loved ones. He's an older fellow, and knows he wouldn't be able to fight the vampire without the additional powers and immortality, so he's living an unlife of self-loathing until he can hunt down and kill the vampire that made him what he is.

Ok yes its true that prey needs the sun to survive. But I'm sure there will be some supernatural explanation for this. Remember that, that sun turns red and the whole world gets covered in a cloud of darkness. So maybe everyone will be forced to eat deformed food that sustains them to a degree but is better for vampires.

Its more than likely the dawnguard will have a cure and your forced to take it if you want to join. People have been asking for more restrictions on guilds since oblivion. It would be dumb if the dawnguard accepted vampires, Would compromise their entire group.

Dude.. If you're a vampire, and have chosen not to get cured, then of course you're evil(either that or neutral).

You willingly feed on the life force of others. You're a evil/neutral parasite, and no amount of justification will change that.

Of course they're not gonna kill everyone(not just mankind, there are elves, and "beast" races ya know). They're just feed most of them, and use the rest as cattle. If they kill them all they won't have anyone to feed on.

They should attack Vampires on sight. I mean.. That is what they do.

Yeah.. This is the Elderscrolls. Not some pop culture movie. The vast majority of Vampires in the Elderscrolls are [censored]s, as they should be.

A cure for vampirism is not a widely known thing. Don't know much about it in Skyrim specifically, as I've never played a vampire, but in lore it's not something the common populace would know exists. Someone who gets turned may not know a cure is possible, and thus not bother to look, or that if it is possible, that it's easy to obtain.

Janus Hasildor and his wife were vampires for generations before the possibility of a cure became known. Given all the resources at his disposal, if it took a Count hundreds of years to find a cure to end his wife's suffering, it's apparently not something you'll necessarily know about within a few months.

You can gain Meridia's favor while being a vampire; an undead she supposedly despises. So i doubt it. You can be vampire killing vampires with vampires, no doubt :P

Uh any Vigalent of Stendar, any cure disease potion or any shrine of the divines will cure vamparism easily at the initial stages. Its so well known that you even get a mini quest encounter with a recently infected human asking for a cure disease potion. Everyone in Skyrim knows this.

Anyhoo the only "nice" vampires in Skyrim are dead ones.

Vampires from Skyrim don't need to be like "pop culture" and nice. I never said that. I just don't believe vampires are evil. Do they kill people? Yes. But at least they kill for the reason to feed. I don't care if they tear, mutilate or munch the person up. They are hungry, let them eat. Do I want vampires to be all lovey dovey? No, unless they are pretending for the sole purpose to manipulate.
