Boss fights and phases were the boss spawns some sort of extra attack, over and over and over, there is so many other ways to do this its bad, lazy game creation.

And games that arent made for advlts, which was why witcher was at least a small of fresh air, im sick of games being made for kids.

And it would be great if there were more games that gave you the option to choose a male and female character, i know its becoming more common, but id like a choice and unlike skyrim and oblivion even when i was female i still got my character identified as male.

Child NPCs who seem to magically know that you can't kill them or harm them in any way, so they're over-the-top rude, obnoxious and snotty.

I don't think you should be able to kill them, but at least code them with the knowledge that if they tell you to "F*** off!", you could choose to drag them to the nearest body of water and wash their little potty mouths out with some soap.

Yes and no. I like games that don't shy away from mature themes, but I also don't like games that actively fling them in your face. When I started the Witcher 2, I was only two minutes in before I got some female full frontal nudity in my face. I don't mind female nudity, at all, but I do if it feels gratuitous or deliberately shoehorned.

And it would be great if there were more games that gave you the option to choose a male and female character, i know its becoming more common, but id like a choice and unlike skyrim and oblivion even when i was female i still got my character identified as male.
Agreed on that. Not being able to choose a character's gender is lame, at least in games that are supposed to give you freedom. If the character's whole identity is defined, then fine, no problem, but if you need to build the little moron yourself, then I want a choice too.

Yeah, or just write a note to their parents :P

Another thing that's a majour peeve of mine is when the game takes control of your character away, either by controlling him/her outright, or by immobilizing him/her. I don't mean cutscenes and the like, but I'm talking about Charm attacks, Stun attacks, Stagger attacks, Paralyze attacks and all that, or those annoying attacks that slow your walking/running speed to a crawl. I can stomach that sort of crap in a jRPG, but NOT in a real-time game.

Game developers should realize this. Players DO NOT like to have control over their character taken away. Like the Escort Mission, IT'S NO FUN!

THIS. SO. [censored]. HARD.

I was playing Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City earlier today, and ended up backed into a corner by a Hunter.

>Hunter lunges at me, knocks me over.
>Hits me, knocks me over.
>Hits me again, sending me into a "blood frenzy", causing thousands of zombies to come box me into the corner.

Wat. In what universe does that sound fun to anyone? If I didn't get knocked down every bloody time it hit me, I would've been able to at least have a chance at getting out of the [censored] corner.

In RTS's the "evil" factions not having the ability to heal their own damn men (Battle for Middle Earth II, Tiberium Wars...) maybe it annoys me because, no matter the game, I always take care of the people under my command - probably why I loose most RTSs'.

Missions that are timed and force you to go running across the map and back. Those missions that are timed soley to add 'challenge' piss me off because I don't like to rush in missions.

In Skyrim I've had to make do with imagining that the "disable" command is sending them to their room until they learn to behave properly, in other words forever.

I can already imagine:
Kid: Go {beep} yourself you can't tell me what to do!
Parent: WHY YOU LITTLE!!!
{Tries to grab kid but can't}
Kid: Ha ha you can't get me, I'm programed so you can't.
Parent: What kind of a God will allow this----THOU ARE A CRUEL AND EVIL GOD!!!!
{Runs off and cries uncontrollably}.

Being the "Chosen One"
Always being the hero, never getting to play as the bad guys.
These.

Plus:
--what's become the cliched/generic fantasy setting (medieval fantasy kingdom). It's still ok/fun, but I'd like more variety.
--skinny or Sparta type, super shiny, beautiful people everywhere. I'm really tired of the current "look" for characters. Oh sure occasionally some minor ambiance or quest NPCs will be dumpy, pudgy, old etc. people, but you know what I mean.
--(RTS) I became tired of the "collect resources, build tons of units, tell units to have a giant battle" long ago. They keep trying to alter that formula a bit, but in the end it still usually boils down to that.

Plenty of others, but either others have mentioned them already or I can't think of them off-hand.

>>> errr, you [censored]in kidding me? can't you just do that yourself?
"No, I had a dream that only you can do it, you've been chosen"

I guess I don't mind fetch quests that much. Most quests in all games feel like you're an errand boy, whether you have to fetch 10 apples or travel to several spots to get info from a few NPC's before you find a person you're supposed to kill/loot. As long as a game mixes it up a bit so it's not always "fetch 10 apples" then I'm good.

Yeah, they make the Little Lamplighters look civilised and lovely. We need Modem (of City Life fame) back to add some nice kids to Skyrim!

One thing that annoys me is something is considered "advlt" jsut for having nudity and gore.

Pretty dissapointing, I would like to see more advlt games with depth on more serious issues.

EXCEPT if it's about fantasy races. Then, of course, every race is wonderful, except those awful http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HumansAreBastards.

That one is not limited to video games - it summed up the entirety of the "story" of Avatar.

Americans and Russians vs Germans.

Zomg kill da bad nazis!

Too bad the majority of the Wehrmacht weren't party members and, in fact, despised the party and the fuhrer. But what the hell. Dehumanize them anyways!
