I couldn't care less. This is Beth's vision.

I remember reading somewhere that they had to make it this way because the Xbox and PS3 couldn't handle the high polygon count required by two-piece armors.

Xbox maybe, but not ps3 we could have two-piece on demon's souls.
but when I played dark souls on my 360 it wasn't two-piece armor anymore.

honestly i don't care

Then I hope you at least care that more and more options and customizations are being taken away in favor of "streamlining"... Apathy will only ensure the next title has even LESS customization. Before we know it, all outfits and armor will be one piece.

I don't believe for ONE moment that clothing was made to be one piece because of the number of NPCs in cities. Please. The cities in this game are half that of Oblivion's. Also, it's 2012. Such a thing should not be a concern in a game these days. Except the game was made for six-year old systems first and PC last, so there you have it. Well, at least in the Creation Kit you can make clothing for specific body parts...can't wait for a complete overhaul that will make this game the way it should have been.

A dirge for the death of the Bethesda RPG....

i played morrowind, oblivion and now skyrim. we always got less that the previous game...so i think tes 6 will be "we make the world, you modders make everything else"
btw, i don't care about clothes and armors, this way is simple for modders to create good renders and textures...clothes don't make an rpg a true rpg

Am i the only one that misses being able to go shirtless like a boss? Or wear watever combination of stuff you want? This body suit nonsense is killing me.
Absolutely agree. Would like to be able to layer them, too.

I don't really miss mismatched armor suits, either. Most people don't know why Bethesda implemented this idea in the first place. Pete sent a tweet last summer explaining why: it allows the game engine to focus on other things without slow-down or crashing (especially for consoles, of course). It allows NPC's and monsters to be seen on-screen from a greater distance. It allows better details far away, like clouds rolling way up in the mountains and stuff. A greater number of NPCs can be on-screen, etc.

Remember in Oblivion how structures and enemies would sometimes just pop on screen? If I had a choice between being able to see a bear from a quarter-mile away, or mismatched armor suits, I'm choosing to see the bear from a greater distance.

Elder Scrolls Fans: Give them everything they want and suddenly they want something else that never seemed to matter before.
Always mattered to me. Still matters. And they definitely didn't give me everything I want, or even close.

With the current inventory system (SkyUI is better, but not quite perfect), it would be a mess to have all of those different items. I think that's why they disappeared with Oblivion. They got rid of the classic drag and drop UI and went for something more streamlined. I prefer the streamlined UI better than the old one, but I would really like a UI like SkyUI's or Oblivion's that puts a list of all of the things you currently have equipped on the right side of the screen... or perhaps just move the things you're wearing to the top of the list.

This applies to the combination of legs/chest. Beth said that the combo would allow for a lot more options for armor. I'm not sure if that's true.

Even if they took off the ability to enchant clothing, it would be so nice to have Pants (or skirts/dresses), Shirts, Belts and Robes. I mean, it's cold up there, can't a person put a robe on over their armor?

Renee Gade, you can still mix armor. OP was referring to clothing, not armor. You can have an Ebony Helmet with Glass armor for example.

Yes...but you can't have Elven legs with a Dwarven chest, or cloth pants with leather chest.

That's what we're looking for.

Textures looking better and showing as they should is a lot better than mismatched armor in my book. They made it this way for a reason.

I would rather have mismatched. I use to frequently have a character that wore regular clothes with a leather chest piece.

Thanks, I like cloaks, though I was also hoping for robes that could be worn over armor, as in Morrowind.
