Was DOOM 3 To Dark?

Sure as long as it's done right this time around.

I'd say that's the best way to put it. I like Doom3's darkness, but it got VERY frustrating to see nothing but dark levels. Doom3 NEEDED some daytime lit levels, like from classic Doom. Doom3's darkness, though, was good for creating a demonic atmosphere, so the whole idea is that in Doom4 they'd better understand that in Mars there is also a daytime, not just night, and they should use the daytime to make outside semi-openworld maps, like those in Doom2

Nice track, but that doesn't at all represent Doom, it wasn't even in the game, only on the Ps1 version, which they tried to make more similar to Doom64. But it wasn't any good compared to playing the original.

Doom's not supposed to be a long, dark, gothic-like darkness to it, it's supposed to be action packed, gore and guts everywhere shotguns going off, and YES there will in fact be sunshine in quite a few levels, because they're in Mars, and the least they can do is show sunset, which they did, in ALOT of the levels in Doom...

anyway, here's what it's supposed to feel like:
