Was this game designed for the 360 or what....

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 10:52 am

I have hundreds of hours in with multiple characters with zero and I repeat zero crashes or slow downs or anything. I have autosave on everything and have accumulated over 500 saves myself with zero save load problems.

I was also watching a playthrough on the PC version and the load times were massive between areas...360 load times are fairly quick and blazing fast in comparison to the PC playthrough I was watching

Was this game designed and optimized for the 360 therefore the 360 has virtually no performance problems or is it just luck on my part?

It was designed for 360 yes, but I have no problems on PC and load times are 2-3 seconds.

Lucky you, I'm up to 558 hours gameplay and got major problems with stability. I think it was aimed primarily for the 360, hence the DX9 game we PC players ended up with.

I play the PC version and I'm pretty much satisfied with the game. The loading times weren't a problem before but now that I've installed ENBseries the loading times are 2-3 times longer, but it's really worth it. The game looks much more alive.

Skyrim was indeed designed around the 360, yes. Todd Howard himself said this. The PC and PS3 versions are ports.

That's why the next round of consoles can't come soon enough...bottom line is that alot of games are coded to meet console standards and we need to up those standards as soon as we can

We will all have a better gaming experience once this Gen of consoles is put to pasture

Or if they simply just designed it on PC in the first place?

My pc handles the game fine and my loading screens are between 1 and 2 seconds. I normally don't have enough time to read them or play with the 3d objects at all.

Despite your feelings, pc gaming is a very niche thing and pc gamers are minority. Console gaming rules the market because of this.

I've got about 350 hrs and while I haven't got many problems I have run into some. Funny thing is this is my 2nd disk ( cracked the 1st) no problems on the first disk... Odd continuity problems on the 2nd. Quests I did with 1st char I am haveing problems with now. Unfortunatly it would be a major spoiler to discribe the problems... one I did manage to "work around" the 2nd their is no way to work around. I just keep going further back in saves and then go forward hopeing somewhere I can get past "the" spot.

I am on PC, my load times are 1-4 minutes, which can be annoying at times, but, I dont mind it as its the only issue I have. I rented it for my 360, And the load times seemed to be about the same for me.

You have to consider how good of a computer the guy was using. I play on 360 and have had multiple crashes, one of them taking down the whole system, I had to unplug it from the wall. I tent to play long hours at a time on my days off though, so the load times/crashing is most likely all situational.

"Niche" is an exaggeration. The 20M+ active accounts on Steam certainly are not a "niche" market.

That svcks. I usually get that too, but I always hope for a somewhat long one. I love playing with the 3d objects. It's funner than playing as a nord.

The PC gamers and modders also the ones keeping this game alive for a decade after would be dead on the consoles, and they're the ones responsible for this series ever making it into a series. Designing the game on PC would ensure that it had hit maximum potential, technically, and it could then be ported to consoles. That's pure logic.

The load times you were watching was someone with a crappy pc, my load times are 2-3 seconds max, much faster than the xbox load times.

*looks at defualt UI*

Yep it was designed for 360

I could give you more reasons the UI should speak by itself. Couldn't play with a K/M without http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3863

Except no, that's not logic. Logic is looking at the game sales and seeing Bethesda sold over 75% of copies to console users for both Oblivion AND Skyrim. That, good sir, is logic.

The only thing modders are keeping alive are the pc users. Which are again a minority. So what's your point?
