What are you reading right now?

What are you reading right now and why are you reading it? Would you recommend it? Novel or short story or poetry or anything.

I'm reading Farewell to Manzanar, it's an easy read for my WWII in The Pacific Theater class. I wouldn't personally recommend it, it's probably not the most accurate book because it's coming from a girl remembering the camp when she was 7 years old and she wrote it 30 some years later.

The Bluejacket's Manual

It's basically the guidebook to being a Sailor in the US Navy. They hand them out at basic training, but I figured I'd get a head start and order one off Amazon. It's actually pretty good. Most people wouldn't have any use for the military drill and courtesy, ranks and so forth, but there's extremely practical and useful information in it on leadership, first aid, diseases, safety, and other things. I'm pretty much required to memorize it. :P

I'm reading World War Z by Max Brooks at the moment. It's a light but pretty entertaining read. I haven't read it in a while though; I've been too busy.

I'm currently reading "Les Sept Jours du Talion", "7 Days" in English, I think.
It's from French-Canadian author Patrick Sen?cal.

An horror-suspense story about a doctor who kidnaps his 5 year old daughter's murderer and rapist, locks him in a remote house and during 7 days, he tortures the captive, to make him feel what his daughter felt. A really, really excellent novel and you have to look beyond the torture. The book makes you think: "Is the doctor right? Would I do the same thing if my 5 year old daughter would be murdered and [censored]?"

The movie recently came out 2 weeks ago, can't wait to see it. :)

I'm halfway through a collection of George Orwell's essays, part way through Burmese Days, and have Nabokov's Lolita sitting currently untouched. I've not had time to read yet this year
