well, the promotional image of the courier is a male with blonde hair so....

oh, and the vault dweller and chosen one were canonically male that may factor into it a tad bit.

Well oddly given that FO2's chosen one has been ret con'd to be male ( the singer Bruce Isaac makes a direct mention of the new Mr Bishop, which is the PC's son from FO2. )
Also given that when you see Benny Shoot the PC at Goodsprings.. the outfit is the male version of the prospectors outfit.
I'd say in Lore in NV will have the courier as male.

Myself though don't mind what the pc is in later games as long as the options are availble for all sixes to play the games equally.

Edit: I agree with Apples, I mean, it's never been explicitly stated WHAT the Chosen Ones six was. It's always been implied to be male, but never canonly stated as either or.

Because pretty much in all the fallout games the person has been portrayed as a man. It wouldnt seem right to play as a women(since im male).

Though it is true that they have always been canonically male, it doesn't mean it can't change. It's not as though it's essential to Fallout, otherwise a female option probably wouldn't exist. Also, you wouldn't have to play as a woman, it's just that the courier that goes down in Fallout history won't be yours. I'll bet that not all of your decisions will be congruent with the canon courier anyway. I however understand wanting the canon courier to be male because you can identify more with a male character as a male, but I just don't understand raging about it like you said you would.
