What we've learned so far Thread #2

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:56 am

Hope they don't use too much of Fallout 3s resources, i hope they make some new stuff like gates and walls and stuff, i see a lot of F3 stuff in there, i hope they don't abuse the F3 resources :nono:

How is it abuse? If they use many already existing resources to save time to develop other areas of the game and have more time to work on new resources that's only a good thing.

I just don't want to be exploring the desert and constantly be seeing objects from Fallout 3. Every so often is fine, but not too much.

This.

Though I am surprised the super mutants showed in the scans were only the default FO3 "core game" SM, not the ones added from Broken Steel.

I agree, this wasteland must not look at all like a wasteland. It should look like a theme park, with something new around every corner.

The poison of Bethesda's physical game assets must not stain this new, west coast-y Fallout.

I don't think the Gamebryo engine gets this... it might be something he didn't heard of.

I hope there's more skeletons with signs next to them like the ones in Fallout 3 at Vault 101. One thing I always looked forward to when starting a new game.

Since this thread is kind of running out of material, this is some stuff that I didn't see in any list:
The engine is clearly the same, although the colors look more vibrant, which I like;
animations seem to be very similar to the ones in F3;
The models also look very similar, the mutants especially borrow very much from the of the ones in F3, at least for now; Their new armor looks pretty fit for the setting.
looks like dynamite might be in;
Doctor Mitchell, the one that revives the PC at the start of the game, lives in a town called Goodsprings. He might also be a ghoul since he says he was in a vault at war time. He owns Victor the robot, aparently the one that is digging up the sand in the teaser trailer - and, very probably, the game's intro.
It might be that we'll have many more options in dialogue based on skills, although this is not clearly explained (professional jounalists, man);
Does the article say that we'll be able to found a civilisation? Or it just points out that Hooverdam provides both water and electricity?
A new minor faction is in, the Powder Gangers, which will give some trouble to the player (maybe not more than the Tunnel Snakes)
The action takes place 3 years after the events in F3.
One of first quests is dealling with some geckos - probably the standard kill the rats quest.
A new weapon - Varmint rifle.
Along books, magazines seem to be back.

You don't know for sure if the Teaser trailer is the same robot.

Victor the robot belongs to doctor Mitchell. It's pretty clear that will be the game's intro.
