What we've learned so far Thread #2

And it's good that we still have some months until release. Remember they delayed Alpha Protocol so I am also afraid for NV.

They being Sega, and for good reason also. Have you seen the gametrailers video for AP that was released last week(?) It looks really good now.

I can almost guarantee it's probably going to come out in late October or early November so we have like 8-9 months until it comes out. It's going to be a long wait...

Indeed it is...

That's what I'm saying. They couldn't launch AP at the first announced date, so I'm afraid NV might also be rushed... and I don't think Beth will allow them more time.

I've literally been looking through Google for quite awhile now for scans of New Vegas in the PC Gamer and I haven't even found even one. That's disappointing. :cryvaultboy:

I was hoping (still am actually) that NV gets delayed into 2011, more time the better.

That's what I'm thinking since it was announced. But I don't know... Zenimax especially is after the money, so... And I can't find that AP trailer you're talking about on GT. The last one added there seems to be from august...

I see. It's not separate but part of gtv segment.

http://www.gametrailers.com/episode/gametrailers-tv/82&ch=2&sd=0?ep=82&ch=2&sd=0

Those little segment bars they have in the loading section of the video, 8th one from the left.

Folks best not to even discuss scans here. Don't post them, don't link to them and don't direct folks to them. :nono:

Not necessarily. Sometimes, when they delay it into another year or another quarter, it means they could have fallen into some technical, financial, or some other kind of problem? Not that I think any of that will happen, but seeing how close we are, I think it's fine they keep the time figure they have. In June or July, then I'd say they could delay it into 2011, if something comes up or they just need to add more stuff?

I'm so excited about this game it's not even funny, I'm literally salivating in aticipation and it's a mess to clean up.

I'm most eager to hear if we'll be able to mod this game like the TES games and Fallout 3 though, that added so much to the game. If it wasn't for modding I wouldn't have played Fallout more than once, but thanks to mods I kept playing it for ages. If this game has that, then it may very well be one of the best games ever made in my book.

For those of you who have seen the scans or have a copy in hand, look at what the Player is holding when he is fighting the Geckos. DYNAMITE! Hes holding dynamite.

It doesn't clearly look like it... and we're not allowed this discussion. It never happened.

From my understanding, Area 51 is a large Military Air Base surrounded by mountains with only 1 angle of entrance like a U shape and the base being in the middle of the U.

Area 51 isn't known that well for its exports meaning that only the best of the best air planes have left the base for large scale production, like the B2 stealth bomber. That fact also leads many to believe that underneath most of the hangars are large bunkers used for storing Gov secrets. I'm not talking about ET but experimental air craft and engines that would be dangerous to test anywhere else.

Basically what I'm saying is that Area 51 is definetly a place where there would be a Vault of sorts, perhaps not intentionally built for surviving a nuclear holocaust but because the base is surrounded by mountains to could be refuge to a lot of people or a home base for either the B.O.S. Enclave or maybe even the Aliens in MZ.

No this discussion didn't take place. But if it did I would ask you to notice that the player is holding something red and possibly tube like and that what every he attacked with was an explosive.

You can discuss what is in the pictures from the Magazine, you may not discuss scans or direct folks to them.

Ok, I agree, the game might have dynamite as a weapon, but in my imagination it doesn't seem to be any different than the F3 grenades. At least that's what it looks like and thinking about the implementation... that's what comes up.

one good thing about using the same engine and assets as fallout 3 is that many mods..extra items such as armour, weapons, or graphical changes such as alternative bodies and hair....will already be 90% done and just need porting over :)

Yup, if we get a toolset I imagine it'll be fairly simple to port existing Fallout 3 mods over (With creator permission of course) to work with Vegas. Hell, if I figure out how I could see if I actually have some of my old files for unfinished projects and pick up where I left off, rather than starting all over again. And if they use similar character models I'm sure most of the outfit mods could be ported over as well.

Mod support will really decide of this game becomes "great" or "Godlike".

Only completely new models and textures are allowed.

Plenty of mods that use completely custom models and textures.

Yeah, this could be. Especially if the game gets a new GECK after launch, a lot of new items could be ported rather fast.
