What was the very first thing you did after escaping?

You escape your pending execution and... what was the first thing you did? Run to the nearest town? Kill someone? Steal? Talk to someone?

Please, do tell :)

First thing I usually do, is head to the Guardian Stones, then go kill some Bandits in the Embershard Mine. Then I head to Riverwood, work on a new outfit, drop off some loot and after that, the world is my playground hahahaha First toon (Nord) followed the MQ to Whiterun, 2nd toon did pretty much the same, but followed the Imperial civil war quest line.

Then I had fun with my 3rd and 4th characters. One went straight to the DB after escaping Helgen (picked up a rumor in Riverwood, then headed to Windhelm). The other went straight to Riften after her escape, to join the Thieves Guild! lol

Picked a flower ( I know it's lame), but ... Skyrim is my first real TES, I failed Oblivion at Tutorial and never looked back. Than killed two wolfs walking to Riverwood.

Followed Hadvar to Riverwood, cleared out his uncle's house of everything I could pick up, got some smithing training with his uncle, sold stuff, got the golden claw quest, then off to Whiterun - I essentially do what it takes to get the house in Whiterun to have somewhere to store things - then it's get outdoors and explore :)

In my very first playthrough, the very first thing I did was look up at the Throat of the World. It was magnificent, massive, and tantalizing. So I climbed up the mountain. I didn't go to Ivarstead first, I didn't even take the back route from Riverwood. I looked at it and started jogging. Then jumping. It was nightfall when I reached the very top, picked up the Notched Pickaxe, mined my first ore ever (ebony ftw), and watched the beautiful aurora shimmer and twist across the sky. Then I waited until early morning, watched the sun rise, and saw the entirety of Skyrim below. And I was very very glad I bought this game. :'-)

Ran into Whiterun, ignoring Hadvar and Riverwood completely.

I wandered off and found some cave right near Helgen. I totally missed the Guardian Stones. Trying to be too clever I guess.

Now, regular as clockwork, I always head to that Talos shrine a little way west of the 3 standing stones... and raid the dead Thalmor agent there for some nifty-looking gear (whether to wear or sell)...

1st thing i did was look around in awe at the beauty of skyrim...the intro didn't give me a chance to stop and smell the roses so i wandered the wilds around whiterun

2nd thing i did was slay a mammoth...no easy task at lvl 2 with weak weapons but i like a challenge

Thank you kindly. :-) It actually kind of set the tone for most of my subsequent playthroughs, because I usually keep a pickaxe in my inventory at all times, and I love smelting my own ore to smith my own armor and weapons. There's just something really personal and satisfying about mining ore, hunting and skinning animals, then smelting said ore, tanning the hides, then forging weapons and armor, and finally improving them to the best of my abilities. Even with the characters that don't really have much to do with smithing, I still have to work to not mine ore and forge my own gear.

Also, I still love climbing epic mountains. :)

Oh, this is kind of embarrassing. You see, I haven′t played Skyrim one second. I′m just curious as to what others do straight off the bus so to speak as I know how the game begins.

Hadvar said we should go in other directions, but he wouldn't leave me alone. He kept expecting me to follow him. So I did, every time. Select a stone and go to Riverwood. After that... I don't think I really explore much after that. I don't really start exploring until I get to Whiterun, at least.
