What Do You Think About Marcus Returning

I really hope he's a companion. Then I can make an older Chosen One :D

Edit: Nm they haven't announced if he actually is a companion or not

I bet he will be in a DLC though with side quest & everything if he's not one when the game is released.

Well, the ending to Fallout 2 did state that the Chosen One and Marcus never came into contact again after Marcus apparently "traveled east", so if anything this proves that the Chosen One is not going to appear in New Vegas. Which is a bit of a disappointment in my opinion.

Then again, it's not like Bethesda hasn't completely retconned past games before...

When speaking to Marcus he talks a bit about The Master so he's been around since Fallout 1

There's no doubt about that. That's why I said at least 95 years old. Marcus could have been created anytime between Richard Grey becoming the Master in 2102 and When the Master was destroyed in 2162. So that could make Marcus anywhere between 178 to 118 old as a super mutant. We don't know how old he was when he was human and dipped. So that makes him even older.

Edit: I just did not want to do all that math

The thing to think about with these "ancient" NPC's, is that in all this time nothing has been able to kill them, and they've been adventuring for years (read MAX level).
So IMO all of the still living supermutants should be tougher than FO3's Reavers/ and or Albinos (including Marcus); and Marcus should look on the PC practically as a child.

I guess that's because of RPG logic.
Hell, I hardly think that max level is 30, it's just what the PC is expected to learn during the games time.
It's expected that the player should complete fallout 3 during one year which without broken steel = 20 lvls.
But let's take 2 years = 20 levels.
It's been 95 years since he met Jacob which means he could be able to have reached lvl 950, in his current age that's his max level.
But I don't think he is at max I think he's just half way through but whatever, let's say lvl 400.
Fawkes has 8 in endurance so I'm going to set Marcus' to 7 because I can't find his SPECIAL.
Base health is 100 in fallout 3 with x20 END, his base health would be 240, 399 levels = 3990 health, so Marcus total amount of hit points would be 4230 HP.
He would have by fallout 3's standard 399 perks or by new vegas' standards 200 perks.
He would have maxed out all stats several times over.

>_>

Marcus should actually be a god...

But again, RPG logic, he will probably be worse than The Courier at mid level.

Even if someone has a statistic that would scale this one down significantly Marcus would still be god material.
He's over lvl 100 IMO.

If he were at max level he would have 9730HP, actually, just to avoid the "IT*S OVER 9000!!!!" meme I'm sure he took the "It's not over 9000..." perk which set his max health to always be 8999.

I really want to see what his back story is, as when I last played FO2 he got splattered just before the end.
So I hope they go into how broken hills decayed under his leadership, how this essentialy noble supermutant reacted as more pressure was placed on an often devided community.
Rather than just used a past companion who can explain to newer players what went on before under the chosen one, with no new / deep info into his own history since FO2.
Well thats my hope anyway.

That would be an incredible blunder, as it would mean etching a canon gender, likeness, and name for the Chosen One into stone.

That's why that fallout game never happened in the minds of many fallout fans.

...Really?
They couldn't accept that a main character was given a canon appearance?

Other Canon issues then that. Safe to say it's not canon in the eyes of many old school fans including myself. I don't own it and it's been a very long time since I had anything to do with it.

The Vault Dweller is canonically a man. I think the Chosen One is too.

Yes, it says so in the top right corner of the pic.

I think my Perception has dropped a couple of notches, didn't see it at first.
Would be nice with a list of things that are considered non-canon from that game though, haven't played it or read up on it much, only seen a trailer and the gameplay looked like it svcked.

Marcus is the man! Well, OK, the Super Mutant! He's looking pretty good for an old fart. If he's a companion, I just hope he's learned not to shoot me in the back!

Well I guess Marcus can thank the Gamebryo for that.

I'm pretty sure nobody is pissed that Marcus is back. If they are, they should be shunned by the world :P

No, the Devs would not let that happen. Marcus is a west coast super mutant. He is smart and he has his memories of being human. Speaks very well. In FO2 he can be a follower but he's not a dumb bullet sponge. I don't know if he will be a follower this time because he could be well over 178 years old. He was old last time we saw him.

I think it's great. From what I've seen of Fallout 2, Marcus was an interesting character with rich dialogue -- expect the same in Fallout New Vegas.

Unlike many of the stuffty folks over at NMA, I am very pleased with his physical appearance. Sure, his skin is a bit smooth, but that's incredibly nit-picky. Obsidian's model is pretty faithful.

Huh?
I thought that most of the NMA users liked it.
It seemed that way last time I read their Marcus thread.

It won't be the real Marcus until the battle where, despite full ammo and a clear line of sight on three claim-jumpers, he switches to fists and waddles off to punch a dog in a tent.

Marcus is a Fallout 2 character.
He was the sheriff and one of the two founders of a multi-racial settlement called Broken Hills and a possible companion you can recruit.
You can find more information on the Fallout wikia.
