It's cool because it's pink. You may want to provide a better thread opening as an example of what you want it to become. So, please explain why you feel the way you do about Skyrim.

It is mostly great, except for the gutting of magic... it's like somebody secretly switched the Bethesda Team's regular coffee with Ravage Magicka potions.

Its fantastic... many flaws and depressing bugs, but it still boasts the ability to make me play it for far too long =]

Like it a lot
Settings not as good as Morrowind but still pretty good and overall the game mechanics are a big improvement on MW and Oblivion

If we had the ability to create unique characters with Attributes during chargen, I think Skyrim would be almost perfect.

I feel like Skyrim is one of the funnest TES game like Redguard. I'm a traditional rpg fan and in Skyrim I'm not bother by micro stats and whatnot. Once the CK comes in though, I definitely will download "hardcoe" gameplay mods to go back to my traditional rpg roots that suits me better. For now, I'm accepting Skyrim with all the warts and all and having fun.

Xbox 360 version here:

I bounce between "Game of the Year", and "Most shamefully, bug ridden piece of fetid dung release of the year."

An otherwise steller game is totally ruined by bugs, which on a console like the xbox 360 render it unplayable for many.

I was actually lucky enough to get through the main quests, so in a way you could say I 'finished' it though I can't get the
15 daedric artifact achievement because Lod is dead on the ground in Falkreath (it seems to be the default, to have him
killed by a dragon the first time you enter town.) Yeah, I DID do the one where you can get TWO daedric artifacts, but
chose incorrectly on two other Daedric ones I did not know would mess me up for the achievement. Why would my
character elect to eat people? Why would I kill some dude who helped me out, because some naughty voice was
telling me to?

This game was not really ready for a release on the PC; Players seem to forgive that based upon having
a "console" to fix most problems. I've read how they can fix an NPC dying early, to setting a bugged quest
back to stage one. This is all well and good, but should still give the game a lower rating; There is no way
you should HAVE to do those things to play.

The console release, however, is unforgiveable. I guess its even been worse for PS3 players.

At level 72, never having exploited or anything, my save file is now 20 meg. I can't enter the
Companions hall in whiterun, since I hard lock up on the Xbox 360 if I leave it (common
"large save file" bug.) In revisiting some locations, I can't enter some forts again or revisit
Helgen keep (which I've never done since starting the game) since I hard lock up when
trying to zone INTO those.

I'd like to finish a quest line in Markarth, but can't until they fix those bugs. At least
they say they are fixing that in 1.4.

--------------

There are also so many bugs with the radiant quest system, something that Bethesda seemed to kind
of brag about, that you can't even really have fun with that.

- Yeah, it is fun to go and get a dragon hunt from Esbern. Oh, but he gave me bonestrewn quest
and a dragon never spawns there anymore (even in like 40 in game days), though the chest
occasionally refreshes.

- Yeah, it would be kind of neat to bother doing some thieves guild stuff, but they give
me that quest to get something from Heimskr's house; Him no LONGER HAVING ONE, makes
that one you have to "drop." Oh hey, when I look at my "score" I'm at negative 16 thieves guild
quests now (seemingly stuck at negative 18, after turning another one in, not sure why the
number stays negative 18.)

- The only one that really WORKS at all, would be "visit the dark mother" again to kill someone.
However, these are SO REPETITIVE. The one to kill the shield maiden in Markarth is buggy too,
I finally learned to wait until 2:30 am to kill her, so that when I attacked her Gorbawhatever the orc
smith and that other dude did not "go crazy batdung insane" on the GUARDS of Mararth, for some reason,
then get killed; I Don't know why me assasinating some lady, then getting guards mad at me, would cause
them to attack guards (even if I'm a mile away from them.)

----------------------

So you could say this was my "opinion", except on the xbox 360 it is actually just a list of facts.
The game is broken, so broken it had no business being released for consoles yet.

If you've not bought it for a console yet, DON'T. Wait six months, to a year to two years, for when its
ready.

What I'm going to do is probably stop messing around in it now, until bugs are fixed and
possibly some DLC/expansion stuff gives you more stuff to do in a bug free enviornment.

An expansion worries me though; If I'm having play stopping bugs, with my savefiles at 20 meg,
what is going to happen in an EXPANSION? My guess is they'd be at least 20 meg still. Why
are they 20 meg anyway? That seems like a bug all by itself. Can't the game just say "done pretty
much every quest, except for a couple bugged ones" then have that take up much less space?

I think I'll get the oblivion game of the year edition for xbox 360 to play in the meantime. Its the
original, plus all expansions repackaged. My guess is it should be fairly bug free by THIS time?
I'll make sure I read some xbox 360 site reviews first, before getting fooled again.

Again, really an otherwise great, big sprawling RPG ruined by so many incredibly play
stopping and varied bugs. It may be time to hire some new play testers, quality assurance
staff, or start adopting the Idsoftware/Blizzard/whatever company method of not releasing
something "until its ready."

Amazing, but a few oversights have prevented it from being God-like. I'd say another 6 months to a year of production time and they could have released one of the greatest titles in decades, possibly ever.

It's so full of potential, but nearly every game mechanic and NPC interaction is astonishingly shallow:

1) Combat needs more to do than just block, attack, bash - bashing is OP, so are all the time-slow perks (block & archery), potions are also OP

2) Magic only requires 1 spell and features no combos besides dual casting

3) NPCs run out of new things to say in a 1 or 2 interactions

4) All enemies fit into 1 of 2 categories: ranged or melee. All enemies can be "terrain hacked" and then munchkined to death by any level 1 toon

5) The success of any encounter mostly depends on how many heal potions / levels you have - not skill, tactics, or strategy

6) Dragons are a joke. They are so easy to beat they might as well be squishier Mammoths with a broken leg and halitosis.

Prior to this game, I'd never played a single game more than 30 hours. I have a 140 hours in this one 2.5 months in...

There are some bugs, but I come from NES/Super Nintendo days, so its much easier for me to forgive bugs than some of the new gamers who have never dealt with having to restart a game that isn't savable, because your player got stuck between a brick and a water tile...

I really want to like this game more than I do. It's my third favorite game it just fell behind Oblivion because all the bugs in it is so disheartening.

Then there is the loss of attributes, I think we needed a retooled system maybe with general perks added in.

Then the magic system has lost way to many effects and spell creation which is a devastating blow that allowed customization and options to mages that allowed us to tailer them as we wish.
