When have YOU used storm call?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 12:36 am

So there I was, one elder dragon scorching all around me as I ran for it, a bear comes out of no where so I turn running to the. North-east, and a ice troll pops out? There I shout to the skies and all hell broke loose. When have you guys used it?

I used it for the first time to help clear an area of necromancers so they would not leave ash piles everywhere.

Only when at the gates of a large fort with loads of bandits on the battlements. Love shouting it though, that and Clear Skies. Weather control just gives me a feeling of power.

The only two places I remember using it are Deepwood Vale against the forsworn and outside Skuldafn temple when I was being overwhelmed by dragons are Draugr deathlords. Very effective in both situations, I recall.

It's a Thu'um it summons a thunderstorm that does massive damage to everything around you.

it's a shout and I'm open to argument when I say that is it the most powerful one yet, just level one storm call makes it rain and lighting hit literally EVERYONE around you, makes you feel epic. Bad side is however, the 200-600 recharge time

When I got the first word and tried to hit a dragon flying around. Ended up killing Lydia and didn't even nick the dragon.

Never. I got it on my first character but was too afraid to use it. Does it still hit followers/civilians/non-hostiles?

it hits every living and nonliving (undead) creature save you, thats why i never use it,

It is a very dangerous Thu'um to be sure. I rarely use it because of the danger it poses to everything in the vicinity.

but it would come in handy in that situation noone ever seems to get themselves in, the thing you always have a plan for but never actually get to put it in motion (i have at least 3 different plans for when i get into biiiig trouble and never have to use them  )

I know I used it against the necromancers to stop them from producing them, it worked stormcall killed them all, for some reason skeletons survived.

Yeah that's why I never used it. Much safer calling a dragon or other hero like you said.

I have noticed this as well, when I first read about stormcall before I figured I would use it all the time.

Then the game comes out and I come up with a plan and I barely use the shout.

I love stormcall, but it kills off too many friendlies...I use it to either stir up the Thalmor embassy, or to take out opposing camps.

I've got a hilarious story from my first playthrough...

So I'm in Solitude and I'm trying to sprint through the town to the Bard's College. My finger accidentally bumps my R1 trigger, and I call down the Storm Call. OMFG I was like "why the **** is everyone attacking me???" I didn't realize that it would turn the NPC's into bloodthirsty savages.

Oh, and there was the time I whacked a chicken when I started in Riverwood in the same game, and the same thing happened. I was like "Damn, they must REALLY value every piece of dirt in this town!

I never used it. The first time I saw it in the previews before Skyrim was released, I was like "HELL YEAH" and thought i was going to use it whenever I needed to take down a dragon (also, I knew my first character was going to be melee only). But then the first time I used it, I noticed it killed Lydia. I reloaded a save and never used it again. I'm less concerned about followers (especially because I don't use them anymore), but rather, I'm concerned about killing an innocent farmer or hunter I am not aware of. I don't put innocent civilians in harms way unless I have to.

Unless you're out in the open and away from civilization, that's probably a good strategy. In its most powerful form, it'll definitely kill lesser civilians for sure.

Karthspire's a good place to use it, as are the civil war quests involving forts (who cares if you hit your side, it's fun  )

It's a great Shout when you're on your own, but the worst when you have a follower with you.

In terms of absolute helpfulness, giving Odaving a shout-out is the best; as long as you're outside. He instantly takes all the attention away from you. You can pretty much sit down and have a picnic and watch the show once he shows up.
