Post » Fri Jun 24, 2011 10:21 pm

Am i the only one wondering where they are? do you think there will be any swords coming out in future DLCs? Shishkebob is one of my favorite weapons but i wouldnt mind chopping with something else (i dont consider the bumper sword a sword, its like a halberd or however its spelled, right?

Nope, there are no laser swords, but there are sonic weapons. I do miss the katana and the chinese sword. There are two kinds of machetes, the shishkebab, the bumpersword, and I believe that's all.

How do you know there are no laser swords in OWB? If there's an energy axe, I'd say a laser sword isn't out of the question.

The Katana has always been my favorite sword. They could add a unique version of it to the game and call it the "Hanzo Sword." Why not? The devs have already been paying homage to a lot of movies and comics in a number of ways.

I would actually rather have a Katana Shocksword, like Jingwei's Shocksword in Fallout 3 which was a Chinese Officer's Shocksword. That would be even better.

I know, because you want it too much. :violin: Nah just kidding. I am a fan of laser swords, and it would pay hommage to Star Wars and more appropiately to Thundarr the Barbarian.

I want more like a band of raiders DLC where the raider's raid a museum in vegas that just so happens to have a medival weapon display area and we get 2 types of swords we get a longsword and a GreatSword to match the bumper sword. We also should get a top secret blade weapon from OWB its a sword made of pure energy and you wear a gauntlet to create it so it acts like a sword in weapon style but its made of pure energy. Back story could be that it was an experimental weapon for power armored units that ran out of ammunition so it uses an infinite energy cell to power itself it ignores DT/DR and has a -10 Hp per sec effect. When getting a critical hit it turns your enemies to ash and has a special vats attack that sends an electric shock from long range at the cost of a third of the current weapon condition thus meaning the weapon gets weaker the more you use its special attack. It also cannot block attacks because of the same reason it can ignore DT/DR its made of energy and anything it touches goes through it. However by blocking you can absorb energy from on coming blows which increases the weps condition by a slight margin. Something like this-

@Rapture, that's a great idea. I believe it would be way to hard to implement into the game though :sadvaultboy:

If they had a non flaming Shiskabob I would be happy. I love the Shiskabob but I hate that when you hit people with it, it sets them on fire. I'd rather hack them to pieces, than have them go down in a blaze.

Traditional swords don't really fit. The shishkebab is as close as you'll likely get. It takes a lot of work to forge a real sword blade. Takes considerably less work to shear a hunk of metal into a rough, jagged slicing implement. And in a place like a wasteland, you do what is efficient to protect yourself. Though who knows, maybe they'll put something in. Though I'd prefer something fantastical to something simple that belongs more in Oblivion or Skyrim than New Vegas.

Add: Also, why not use the machete gladius? It's a little short, perhaps, but I believe it's the longest cutting blade besides the shishkebab.

I would have liked being able to collect fifteen Cosmic Knives in Dead Money, melt them down, craft them into a sword with either a repair skill of 100 or a very demanding dialog option with Christina. That would have been unbelievably sweet to slay hordes of Ghost-People with.

Hanzo Sword would be brilliant. Put it in a trailer with a suitcase of pre-war money and a skeleton clutching its eye-socket. That would be worth purchase price on it's own to me.

Where are the swords?

Back in the Middle Ages and/or Morrowwind. Now get with modern times, pick up a rifle, and stop looking for another final fantasy remake.

I can tell you, with no ego, this is my finest sword. If, on your journey, should you encounter God, God will be cut.

Well, I need to go watch Kill Bill again now. God, I love that quote from the movie; everything about that scene is jaw-dropping.

If I had a gaming PC, I would sooo mod Bud's trailer as accurately as I could...

If any reference like that made it into the game (maybe going as far as a meeting a sword-making Ghoul named Hatori Hanzo that has a questline, one of the endings of which leads to you getting a super-badass katana).

And they should be in the hands of melee-enthusiast Couriers. We had them in Fallout 3. There's a shortage in the Mojave.

The problem is the United States had fallout been based in China or Japan they'd be pretty common. You just dont find too many swords in the US but thanks to the war china brought them.

But this base is a medical expermentation base so energy swords and lightsabers may be scarce.
