Where are you?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 5:59 pm

What hemisphere are you in? Northern hemisphere.
What country? France.
What city? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nantes
Do you live in a small, medium, or large city? Large for this country, wikipedia says the population is around 800,000 in the metropolitan area.
Do you prefer the hustle and bustle, or do you prefer the quiet countryside? Something in between perhaps? A nice suburb? Depends on the day. I like life in the city but sometimes it's nice to get away in the countryside, there's plenty of beautiful villages to visit in the region.

I live in the worst state of the US - Maryland. Humidness and weeds. That's Maryland.
But you have yummy crabs!

Lancaster, in England. It's supposedly a city but only for historic reasons, as it's much smaller than some towns.

I like it, because I'm from a big city and I needed a change. I do like to get away to real cities occasionally, but for the most part I'm okay with the pace of my life. There's a thriving university here too, which I love, and there's some amazing countryside nearby.

I'm sitting on top of the world in the middle of Alaska in the middle of the woods halfway between the very small towns of Nenana and Healy about 100 miles south of Fairbanks. Very near (20 miles as a crow flies) Denali Nat'l park.

Live in Scotland, in countryside just outside a large village. When i was young i always wanted my parents to move into the town/village, but im glad now we always stayed rural. I hate having to go into towns and busy places. Im more an outdoors type person.
But given the chance, say lottery win, id move up north somewhere quite remote and never be seen again other than the odd trip for supplies. Gotta be beside a lake or coast though as id like to take up canoeing/kayaking. Thats my dream anyway. So far ive only won about £15 on the lottery, so a while to go yet
Summer's sounds my kind of thing.

I live in London, well the outskirts which is still pretty busy lots of people, it's a fairly big city but it has very good transport links so you don't have to worry about getting around as long as you don't use a car. Being a city girl I suppose I should like crowds but I don't. Being in a dense populated area does not make me happy but that is probably only because I don't like people. I like going for walks but area often gets in the way. Ideally I would like to live in a small town, enough stuff to do in the days but not loads of cars or people or crime.

What hemisphere are you in? Northern.
What country? United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, England.
What city? Middlesbrough, Cleveland.
Do you live in a small, medium, or large city? I think the place borders on a large town and a small city, couple hundred thousand residents; I'm not sure.
Do you prefer the hustle and bustle, or do you prefer the quiet countryside? Something in between perhaps? A nice suburb? I want to live somewhere quieter, preferably down south somewhere; maybe if I get that job this year I'll be able too.

Smogggggy! :D

Small village in Co. Durham in North East England.

I need earplugs to sleep so as long as it's quiet I'm happy.

I live in Southern Indiana, but I'm close enough to Kentucky that all the radio and TV signals we get originate from there. We don't live too far from civilization (there are several towns all within a few dozen miles to us) but aside from the occasional supply run we don't spend much time outside of our own domain.

But my family is large and so is my home. I live on 16 acres of largely open field, bordered by sloping hills, trees, and a shallow creek to the east. We have a few neighbors, but only one of them (a nice old woman who lives down the road) is worth spending any time with. The rest are either obnoxious or too full of themselves for us to appreciate them in any meaningful way.

So all in all, it's a nice, quiet life. Perfect for introverts like me. The only downside is the total lack of wired broadband ISPs out here - we're stuck with using wireless broadband, which is only 20% as efficient as wired broadband on the best days.

I live in southern New Jersey, in a smallish town I guess you could call it, a half an hour from Atlantic City. That's the US if your not to sharp on your geography. I enjoy it here, it's mostly residential with some smaller stores although they've been trying to get a Super Wal-Mart in. For any major shopping though you have to take a short 20 minute drive to the next town. If you enjoy nature it's a nice place for that as well. Then there's the beach and and all of the stores and tourist attractions that come with it about 20 minutes away.

I wouldn't mind moving to a city though, something not to big like L.A. or New York. When I was in D.C. a few month back I could easily see my self living there. Considering my career choice it's likely I end up moving to a city so I guess that's good.

Live in New England myself. One of the best places in the world in my opinion. Great climate, and the people aren't too bad. Pretty nice environment as well.

Live in Louisville, Kentucky. I love it, I use to dislike it but I started to see all the stuff to do here and I LOVE derby time. So much going on and stuff to do, Thunder Over Louisville was just last week and it was a blast. Just today I am driving around the highlands here in louisville which is a nice(Older) area just enjoying the beauty and the people all over.

Copenhagen, Denmark, Europe (north). Its the capital of my nation and its nice, neat and tiny with only 1.2 mill inhabitants. 25 minutes to beach, forrests and nature, 3 minutes to shopping, 7 minutes to nice bars, discos and pubs, etc. I like it. Everything I need and want is close by.

Ive travelled quite a bit and I really dont like megacities like Tokyo, And when I get into the countryside, I sooner or later start looking for the coinslot in the trees... things slow down in the country.

I think my "Location" says it pretty good. :P

To be more serious, I have recently (temporarily) relocated to Wichita, which is the largest city in Kansas (close to half a million people). I rather like having a fifteen minute commute versus the forty/forty-five minute commute that I used to have.
However, it's taken me a few weeks to get used to the noise and I feel... crowded a lot. I come from a dinky town of around two thousand people, so there's quite a bit of difference.

Damn son, I was at Teesside last year, lived right by Albert Park.

Now back in Milton Keynes, it's not too bad here, apart from a complete lack of nightlife.

Want to swap? One thing I'll say about this place is at least we don't have any stupid accents (Geordies) and use "the" in speech; know a few guys who only live 30 minutes away who pull that "just going to t' loo" [censored], close-call.

The Cotswolds. On the one hand we have the usual junkies, chavvie boys, 14 year old parents, idiots who think driving at 60 around a quiet estate full of kids playing footie in the road makes them cool, and dull middle aged people who think being a basket wright or cheese weaver gives you the right to talk louder than anyone else in the pub so they can get the 'benefit of their wisdom'; on the other hand the countryside is beautiful, there are wattle and daub buildings, tithe barns and a 12th century abbey, and I live next to a graveyard, which despite expectations is calming, not creepy.
