Where are you?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 6:18 pm

What hemisphere are you in? What country? What city?
Do you live in a small, medium, or large city?
Do you prefer the hustle and bustle, or do you prefer the quiet countryside? Something in between perhaps? A nice suburb?

If you could change it, and be anywhere, what would you do?

For me:
I live in Washington DC.

I love big cities, noise, hustle, urban living. I don't live downtown, but only because I can't afford it. If I could, I'd get an apartment in the tallest complex in the city. I don't think I would like a city much bigger than this though. Not New York, Chicago, or LA for sure. I like clean cities, with cool places to go. DC has a height restriction too, which is nice. I can see the sky.
I don't want a house, a yard, a dog, or any of that Stepford stuff.

Maybe some day, but not today.

What hemisphere are you in? What country? What city? Orange City Florida, North of Orlando. USA

Do you live in a small, medium, or large city? small

Do you prefer the hustle and bustle, or do you prefer the quiet countryside? Something in between perhaps? A nice suburb? I do not have a preference. I am happy to be living in a suburban town where the city is 30 minutes away. If I decide I want to go to the city, I can take a bus at a low cost. It will be even better when they built the sunrail train that connects my area to the city of Orlando.

If you could change it, and be anywhere, what would you do? I have a hard time answering this because I haven't been everywhere to decide of a permanent place, but I would love to live in a suburban area that is not far from a populated city. I love obvserving human behavior and cities provide me with a great deal of entertainment. Even Wal-mart does

Raleigh, NC.

I prefer small/medium towns/cities, and like the suburban living, where there's still plenty to do here but I don't have to deal with a big city.

If I could be anywhere, I'd probably live in Hawaii, on one of the quieter islands, maybe run a beach side food bar or surf shop.

I'm in Pace, FL.

It's definitely a small town, that's why you've never heard of it. We've got one main road running through here, although we are right across the bay from Pensacola, which you might have heard of. I love where I live, I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm 30 minutes or less from the beach, 15 minutes or less from the river, and right out in the country. I couldn't deal with a big city life.

Lots of Floridians here. I'm a long time Floridian myself. I went to College in Tampa, taught for two years in Orlando, and went to graduate school in Tallahassee for three years.
Long live the sunshine state.

What hemisphere are you in? Southern Hemisphere.
What country? Australia.
What city? Not saying, but also answering next question, largest regional city outside of the state capital.
Do you live in a small, medium, or large city? Well thats relative to the size of cities in other countries in comparison, its large for this area.
Do you prefer the hustle and bustle, or do you prefer the quiet countryside? Something in between perhaps? A nice suburb? I prefer the city mostly due to the fact that i own no transport, and easier access to services, regional public transport svcks out here, alot of it is being shut down by the government, or was and left in disrepair.

Burnley, Lancashire, in NW England. It's a small industrial town, a bit run down now that the economy has left us behind and our government has no further use for us. Stunning countryside, though.

I like it. It's nothing special, but it's home.

You won't say?

Could it be Victoria, the city in your "Location" tag?

I live in a small coastal town of 1000 people on the island of Tasmania off the coast of Southern Australia in the southern hemisphere of Earth. :)

Where I'd like to live? In my native outback Queensland, Australia. *sigh*

A mediocre cesspool of 100,000 in southern Finland. Good infrastructure but the city is a bit notorious for its high crime rate and just general svckiness, though it's become better in the past years.

Europe, Scandinavia, Norway, Akershus, Eidsvoll, R?holt.

Not a very big place and it is not a city by any means. It is sort of like a suburb where I live, but not quite. It is not to far from the capital.

What hemisphere are you in? Er, the top one. Or the west one, just.

What country? England.

What city? Somewhere near the middle.

Do you live in a small, medium, or large city? It's fairly small; the population's under 100,000 if I recall.

Do you prefer the hustle and bustle, or do you prefer the quiet countryside? Something in between perhaps? A nice suburb? Something in between, probably. I'm not a city girl but the country is a bit too quiet and dragons roam at night.

If you could change it, and be anywhere, what would you do? I'd quite like to move back to my hometown of Newcastle; my girlfriend's not too keen so we may move west of here where houses are less expensive and towns more welcoming of visitors!

Hemisphere: North

Country: England

City: Liverpool, I like it. Live in an inner city area but there is only the occasional shooting. A lot of sirens go past every day though which gets annoying. Someone was stabbed at the bottom of our street not too long ago.

I'd say it's medium with abou 400,00 odd people living here.

I think I'd rather live in a suburb, I'd hate to be isolated in the countryside.

That's a state.

Hemisphere: South

Country: Australia

City: My profile says Melbourne, but I'm not in the actual city. I'm in a reasonably small urban town.

I find where I live to have a nice balance of being right near transport to the city and other areas, whilst also being a fairly quiet town that isn't too developed. For the time being, this sort of location suits me fine.

Moved to Harrisburg PA a few weeks ago.

For college I will be moving to Washington DC over the summer.

I definitely enjoy larger cities.

What hemisphere are you in? Northern.
What country? United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, England.
What city? Middlesbrough, Cleveland.
Do you live in a small, medium, or large city? I think the place borders on a large town and a small city, couple hundred thousand residents; I'm not sure.
Do you prefer the hustle and bustle, or do you prefer the quiet countryside? Something in between perhaps? A nice suburb? I want to live somewhere quieter, preferably down south somewhere; maybe if I get that job this year I'll be able too.

Victoria is a state. The second largest city of said state is Geelong ;)

What hemisphere are you in? Northern and eastern.
What country? Poland.
What city? Poznań
Do you live in a small, medium, or large city? Just over 500,000 citizens.
Do you prefer the hustle and bustle, or do you prefer the quiet countryside? Something in between perhaps? A nice suburb? I definitely prefer the quiet, and I'm lucky enough to have it in the middle of a city. Poznań is unique in that while it's a province capital and a thriving business centre, it feels more like a small town - it's so calm and quiet, and easy to learn to live in.
If you could change it, and be anywhere, what would you do? I already am where I want to be :) I moved here when I went to university, and I'm definitely going to stay for good. I love the green areas here, the parks, the lake. It's a very friendly place.

What hemisphere are you in? What country? What city? Caerphilly, a small town in the valleys of South Wales, UK.

Do you live in a small, medium, or large city? Small town

Do you prefer the hustle and bustle, or do you prefer the quiet countryside? Something in between perhaps? A nice suburb? I'd prefer a town or a small city. Despite Cardiff (the capital of Wales) being around 7 miles away, it's still a small city overall so it's what I like. I'll be living there soon so it's ideal.

If you could change it, and be anywhere, what would you do? I'd stay where I am right now. Like said, I'm moving to Cardiff for university soon. But after that, who knows.

--USA, California, SF Bay Area
--I live in a what might be called a crowded suburb
--Smallish? Not even 100k I think. But it's surrounded by many other small-medium suburbs, w/the effect that it all feels kind of like one giant suburb of several hundred thousand. It's a central living area that sits almost in the middle between San Francisco and San Jose, known here as "The Peninsula."
--I hate traffic, I hate smog, I hate crowds, I hate feeling like I'm living "on top" of others. But I like easy access to shopping/services/hi-tech. So since I'm not super wealthy, I like the suburbs. Don't care about a yard per se, but I do like separate walls and space between neighbors...hence I prefer a single-family house.

If I could change where I live (within reason) ... Don't know. Any of the Western US states would be nice in spots. If I was rich, I'd probably stay where I am, only I'd move to one of the rich suburbs, like Atherton or Woodside, with their big lots/horse farms and older houses. I like older construction. New construction around here looks nice on the surface but it's often crap.
