Where is the 360 patch?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 2:23 pm

And shadows are important why?

I gave up on shadows in this series back in Morrowind and have not missed them since.

Because you cannot stop the shadow flicker with any setting including off, when you are outside. It's not happening to everyone, but let me assure you that the only fix we've found was to roll back to 1.4. And it NEVER happened to me before 1.5

And visually, it is really really awful. Like, hurts me eyes awful in a literal sense. I get a headache after 5 miniutes of it. It is constant and has NO REMEDY besides rollback.

And you know I have defended this game and the updates, so for me to be a bit teed off it's pretty bad.

I agree. Ill trade more stability and bug fixes over shadows any day. Is there any word if Deflect Arrows perk is completely fixed btw? Ive been waiting for quite a while

Even if the glitch causes actual headaches and cannot be fixed even by shutting off all shadows?

The shadows are not that bad really. If you are on the PC, flickering rates can be changed in the INI if you don't like what they are doing on your game.

I see no issue with them myself, however, they are constantly tweaking the shadows in this game for some reason (on release they were pretty decent which is why I say that) so I am sure that 1.6 will have this addressed.

I honestly don't see the kill cams that often. I think I even see them less now than I did before they added new ones. Remember, it is only on the last NPC in the cell, and if the hit will take away all their remaining health does the chance for a Kill Cam even come into play. So it is Random, after those conditions have been met, for this to happen.

that is EXACTLY why I hate the kill cams. It tells you when you are safe again. I play with the music off and no HUD so I really have to look & listen when enemies are nearby.

The killcams are one way to effectively ruin that tension for me; the favorites menu is another, but I digress...

Maybe if the frequency really is decreased I will reconsider, but I don't see much about fixing the real issues on PS3 anymore in the 1.5 notes so meh anyways.. the framerate will still svck, autosaves are still broke, textures & pop-in & missed input events ohmai.

Guys, please harangue your respective appliance manufacturers.

I know it's difficult to grasp, but really, it's up to them to revise your appliance.

Beth can't push that rope any straighter.

No, it's not that flickering problem. This is black lines across the screen, entire screen goes dark to light like a strobe light, completely weird an unrelated to any object in game and no .ini settings fix it. I wish I had a video to show you. It looks like the monitor has a giant moving crack in it and your power supply keeps going on and off, causing the entire screen to flicker.

It's a completely new bug. It's not JUST the shadows like from before.

Trust me, if you think it's no big deal, then you have luckily not encountered it. It's visually impossible to play the game, especially at night because thee entire screen goes black.

We have tried everything. Updated drivers, ini setting, graphics changes high and low, shadows, no shadows, everything.

I'll see if I can find a clip of it. It's really not what you're thinking.

Between the fire and shadows in breezehome things look so flickery and bad here it will give you a headache. The shadows 'jump' everywhere outside and are all blocky and pixelated.

wow, thanks for you insight. I forgot it was ME that through sheer force of will made Bethesda release a broken piece of software (4 months ago) and collect money for it.

Console players should definitely be blaming MS or Sony for having publicly available specifications and APIs. And further we should [censored] on Sony for helping to get a flagship AAA title's source code released to the general public - FOR FREE. (Its certainly in their best interest to keep optimization help a closely gaurded secret)

But cool story, lets blame the hardware manufacturers instead of Beth's continued lackadaisical and apathetic approach to their paying customers. That sounds rational.

I'm on PC, so the patch is available. Consoles will get the same patch at some point soon.

Good question and only time will tell. I would hold off on calling the new underwater effect an "improvement" if I were you, at least until you see it with your own eyes. I happen to like it. Others do not.

I just looked at the patch notes and next to the grass shadows it has PC in parenthesis, so it's PC only. It didn't specify only PC next to improved visual transition underwater and improved LOD transition for snowy landscapes though, so that's a good sign.

For those on PC, how's the improved distance LOD transition for snowy landscapes?

This is how water looked when I first played with 1.5 patch. I had to modify the .ini file to fix it.

EDIT: Wrong link

I thought it was for underwater transition. Not the actual surface.

It makes it look clearer underwater. But I couldnt even see where there was water in some places.

It's blurry. Like you are underwater. The transition layer is gone too, so no more hanging out near the surface, seeing clearly to the bottom.

I will have to look at this again tonight, I just don't see this issue that others have brought up. I do see the blocky flickering that has been there since day one, but I know why those are there and how to fix that. I don't have those fixes in place currently, so my shadows are vanilla.

Which makes me wonder if the folks that are seeing this are running any mods.

It was more like a fog before... now it's just like it's out of focus. Clearer and blurrier. Like I said, you'll have to judge for yourself.

I'm glad they're still working on patches and that we're getting a new one, but am seriously peeved that they aren't releasing a fix for the nirnroot glowstacking bug. :stare:

Does the water look the same above ground still, or did they change the surface as well?

Console Patches come out about a week after the PC patch goes live. The 1.5 PC patch went live about 2 days ago. It is in the hands of Sony and MS and once they certify the patch, it will be released for those platforms.

BTW, you will like this patch. Game is even more stable now.

I hope so :)
