So wheres the sabotage of economy and replacing of shopkeepe

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 2:19 pm

Fairly sure they explicitly said while they would LOVE to do it, they can't.

It surely can't be that hard. I remember them saying that they would be looking for something that sounded alot simular to how halo's fileshare works, or for those unfortunate enough not to play halo I'm guessing you could compare it to COD's video thing.

Oh, and while we're on the subject of things that were meant to be but weren't, Mods for consoles :stare:

No, there was never any mention of mods on console for Skyrim. It could be done, but there are a lot of issues that have to be worked out, and if/when it happens, it won't be soon.

Todd: I have yeah. I think our PC mod community is one of the things that is great about our games. We’ve always supported it and we want to continue to do it. But a lot of our audience is on the consoles so they’re not experiencing that. So we have talked to Microsoft and Sony; “how do we do this?”.

The good news is that those things have started to happen with games like Forza 3 and sharing all your car stuff or Rock Band’s a really good example, where you can make your own tracks where you’re authoring them somewhere else then you’re uploading them to the 360.

There are still a lot of issues to solve with... because these aren’t instances like a song or a car you know, you could download a mod that destroys your game and we can’t have that. So we’re still... we have not solved -- even on paper yet -- how to handle security; how do we handle not messing up your saved games and things like that.

So it’s not going to be solved for the game’s release, but it’s something that we’re going to continue to look at because we think that it’s an awesome part of the game that the majority of our audience isn’t seeing.

So don't go off-topic, please.

This is why I don't follow games so closely until they're actually released. As a developer you're never going to be able to include every single piece of content you might want. It's physically impossible unless you want your games to cost $200 a pop and wait 5-10 years per release.

The thing is, however, it doesn't need to be that complicated. Beth could just look over the most downloaded mods to see if they work fine, and if its the case they could then add it in. This way nobody is downloading anything that could destroy their game or something along those lines.

Hey, you know what is a very dumb thing to do? Go off topic after a mod tells you not to.

Also, Look at Oblivion mod sites. There are thousands of mods. Want Beth to look through every single one? Also, Console encrypts things on their disk differently and all software must be reviewed by a board before being downloadable. It is NOT the same in ANY way.

So please stop going off topic, it won't happen.

There's no economy in the FIRST place. All vendors have a set price for your crap, based upon your speech skill and perks.

If you kill the Drunken Huntsman guy, Elrindir, you rid yourself of a potential dropping-off point for weapons and armor... one that's available 24/7... stupid move.

If you want a semi-dynamic economy in a sandbox game, try X. Though it's an outer space game. No swords or arrows.

Weren't the modders able to create or at least simulate a working economy for Oblivion?

All games go through dev phases. Some things are tried and kept, others are scrapped. No developer ever PROMISES a certain new and untested feature. They may mention that it's "in there" (and at the time, it's correct, it's in the current build), but that's about as far as it goes. Gaming companies do this because guys like you demand it. Me? I pay very little attention to dev cycles, breaking news, etc. I just buy and play the game when it comes out. Are you old enough to remember Quake (original) being released? Do you remember the talk of drivable vehicles?

If there is one thing that has been badly done, in EVERY SINGLE TES GAME, it has to be the economy. After 5 TES games they still haven't gotten it right. Whether that has something to do with the AI or not, I'm not sure.

In any case they need to just stop talking about how the economy will better than the last game. Just admit you can't do it right and don't give us hope that you'll get it right this time, when you haven't since the start.

Back to the original question of "Where's the sabotage of the economy?"

It's everywhere you look when you step out into the real world.

Enjoy the game, because it doesn't have the problems of real life.
So So true.

I think my 100,000 septim bankroll has already sabotaged the economy given that most shopkeepers barely have 500 septims.

You should be able to kill Belethor and then his shop is run by his sister.

At least in Morrowind I could keep the houses/shops of the people I killed.

if you want to play a commercial-sim, go try Railroad tycoon or something similar... getting butt-hurt about a "non-sabotagable economy" is just complaining for the sake of complaining... or some minor form of attention-[censored]ing aka "amirite, amirite? whos with me?"... its a fantasy game with fantasy lore, who gives a flying [censored] about a sabotageable economy... only one who WANTS to find a flaw in the game

Todd said it would be in, so it is legitimate to expect something the head dev said to expect.

as was the Same With Oblivion and Fallout 3

There are no

RS rescue missions.

Sabatoging Mills

Economy, not even a "light Touch" as Todd put it. you cant effect the economy in anyway remebmer that talk about changing the prices of arrows? you can't even make arrows.

or anything That had significant enthusiasm over the 11 months peeps waited for Skyrim to be released.
pointless flame removed

I've done a rescue mission for the Companions. I had to save the Riverwood Inn Keeper from Shimmermist Cave.

Why do Fan-boys make out I'm ''crying'' it's a legitimate question. When have I mentioned they lied? I was simply asking in the OP whether these features were in or not. Some of you are emotionally unstable or emotionally immature to respond coherently.

When you say "If you sabotage a mill, lumber in the reach goes up in price" or some such instead of "We're working on including blah, it might not be in the game"

You know that thing they talked about concerning quests being completable and handed in to other people than the person who would normally give out the quest, in the event that that person should die?

Yeah, that didn't happen.

Radiant questing = repeatable missions, pretty much.
