Which game is better?

Am I correct in assuming this was originally posted in the Skyrim forum and moved here?

From those choices, Baldur's Gate gets my vote. Assuming you mean BG1/TotSC and BG2 SoA/ToB and not BG Dark Alliance 1/2 of course.

Next would be a tie between New Vegas, Witcher 2, and KotOR as I really enjoy all three and have put no less than 100 hours into each of them.

Heres a few one liners on the games that I do know from that list.

Spoiler

Dragon Age II: Some interesting new art directions but overall it feels very rushed, short and rehashed compared to the first one.

Fable III: To simply wish that they'd revert back to the groundwork they set up in Fable 1 is absurd at this point so we have to accept Fable 3 for the musket wielding Napoleonic themed game that it is.

Fallout New Vegas: Challenging and a lot more "fun" than Fallout 3 but looks really dated.

Mass Effect Series: Environmental art direction was really lacking in the second one, with everything being a shade of red -- similar to how everything in gears of war is a shade of brown.

Red Dead Redemption: Great facial animations and graphics but the story-line felt very lack luster..especially the tacked on ending.

Skyrim: Great dungeon diving but has shallow quests and an underwhelming mainquest which is a direct result of its own marketing.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: Great story telling, and art direction but some reused environments which still manage to tell a different story in each title.

Witcher 2: Looks amazing, interesting art direction, kinda spreads itself thin with the broad amount of decisions.

In terms of which game is better or the best -- i'd have to give it to Mass Effect for the consistency.

Even though Mass Effect 2's Commander Shepard feels like a good friend who's decided he's too cool to hangout with you anymore, your squad's individual storylines are much better than the first ones. That alone is a good enough reason to overlook the Gears of War inspired gameplay (which grows on you by insanity mode) and the removal of so many features.

why would anyone ever vote for dragon age 2

I nearly did for a laugh. I chose Fable 3 for much the same reasons, though I did actually enjoy it.

From those options, the Mass Effect series has my vote.

Uncharted 3> All of them

Opinion and many would disagree with that.

Skyrim gets my vote.

The severe bugs and leaks in FNV keep it from beating Skyrim. Honestly, I'd still be playing FNV if Skyrim weren't so bug-free, relatively speaking of course.

The bugs aren't a real problem on the PC, they're still there, but they just aren't an issue with console commands. I've been playing New Vegas since day one and the bugs back then were near game-breaking and the most bugs I have experienced in a game, so now I just view all of the bugs that are left as another part of the game that I have to beat. I find it very amusing to look at the problems the Skyrim forum is complaining about, "it's taking too long to load!!" . New Vegas game is definitely worth dealing with the few workable problems.

I like Skyrim the most so far, though Witcher 2 has a significant lead for my #2 spot.

I've never heard anyone ever complain about RDR's ending before. Honestly it was probably one of the most original endings a game has had that I've beat.

At any rate, I don't understand the random options in the poll but it wouldn't matter much anyways: Skryim gets my vote.

Baldur's Gate is the best RPG ever made, by a wide margin. Specifically BG2, but the first one was amazing as well. Without it, RPG's might not be what they are today.

Skyrim is a close second.

I think I've been quite lucky with New Vegas and wasn't too beset with bugs (well, other than the multitude of quest bugs, but they were largely fixable using the console), though I feel the same way about Fallout 3 and its unfixed data corruption bug that still leaves me feeling quite wary; wish there was a handy savegame editor for dealing with that stuff. I'm finding I'm rather put off playing Skyrim because of its dreadful interface, and I'm tired of having to click on the same thing several times for it to respond and that it keeps randomly selecting the wrong dialogue option. Sigh...

Since I haven't played Skyrim yet (and I may not for some time) and I've played SW:KOTOR I'll say SW:KOTOR :starwars: .

Dark Souls, Red Dead Redemption, Skyrim, and KotOR are all amazing. It is hard for my to rank one above the other.

Of those options I voted for Skyrim of course. But I haven't played most of the games on that list.

these poll results would be totally different if posted on the witcher forum or WoW forum

Do you mean that Skyrim would get a larger percentage on those forums?

I don't get it, how can a 10 year old game (Balder's Gate) compete with current games? It is number 2 in votes second to skyrim. If it is so good, why aren't they making another Balder's Gate? Can someone shed light on why Balder's gate is so good that it is still voted best after 10 years?

Damn, it's either Baldur's Gate, Star Wars:KOTR, or FO:NV.
Voted for NV for being such a FO really devoted fan.
Skyrim's okay but not the best.

I haven't played Balder's Gate, but from what I hear it is one of the best games ever. I think they haven't made a new one because Bioware said Dragon Age: Origins was the spiritual successor to Balder's Gate. Agree or disagree with that, but Dragon Age: Origins should be on this list. I'd still vote for New Vegas, but it would be a really close decision.

I think it's overrated. There are better CRPGs.

And the reason they don't make games like that anymore is simple - people want nice 3D graphics and fully voice-acted dialogue these days. Inevitably this means there are going to be some tradeoffs...
