Which game have the greatest cities?

Daggerfall. They may not of been unique but they were huge and felt like cities, not settlements.

I really wish there was a way to rebuild Winterhold city with the help of College of Winterhold, some magic could do the trick, right.

I'm thinking about how many buildings there are and how many people lives there.
For example you have Balmora city from Morrowind where you have over 42 key points while Whiterun city from Skyrim have only 26 key points.
But which of the two cities has more people living there, hm. Maybe you will figure it out? :woot:

Remember we only compare Skyrim, Oblivion and Morrowind with each other.

You know your question has nothing to do with the poll since no cities from OB or MW are listed.

In MW I liked Balmora as I spent most my time there and I could clean out that dead nobles house and live in it. I also liked Ald'ruhn a lot. Vivec City was just too hard to get around.

In OB I liked Chorrol best I supposed. But no city really stood out to me in OB.

Of all three games I liked MW cities better, but I like the people in Skyrim best as they just have more things to say and will comment on things like dead witches and dead Thalmor and dead DB that you may have had a part in.

For design and architecture, Skyrim without a doubt. For overall size, I'd say Oblivion. The Imperial City was fantastic.

I have now added a poll with two questions. What is your favorite city and town in Skyrim? :woot: If the poll will get enough votes, we move on to 'what is your favorite city and town in Oblivion'.
It's coming, don't you worry. :woot:

The Imperial City in Oblivion felt larger, but I like the designs in Skyrim. They're more distinctive. My favorite city has to be Riften, with Falkreath in second (and Markarth growing on me too.)

I put down Helgen as my favorite town in Skyrim. It looked like it was a nice place when you first see it. Not so much after. Wish I could rebuild it.

I have now updated the poll and you can now vote for:
  • Favorite city & town from Skyrim
  • Favorite city from Oblivion
  • Favorite city & town from Morrowind.
And after we get enough votes, I will take out the most popular city from Skyrim, Oblivion and Morrowind in a final poll to see which city that is most popular of them all. :woot:

I picked Riverwood as it's the only town that has some character. Having the Riverwood Enhanced mod makes it really special.

Favorite city is definitely Windhelm- it feels like a real medieval city. For Oblivion I ended up choosing Leyawiin. It was moldy and seedy while still being pretty. Don't like a city that's too pristine.

Never played Morrowind so can't comment on those.

Skyrim: Riverwood, and Riften since i can see myself living in Riften and i love the Rift.

Oblivion: Skingrad is my home :) Although i love the Imperial City and Bravil for some reason.

Morrowind: haven't played it enough to really grasp each town and city.

Update: Added new poll for favorite town & city in Morrowind and favorite city in Oblivion.
Now if you voted before these polls were added above, you need to "delete my vote" and vote again. Sorry about this.
Thanks for voting by the way!

Oh, this is exciting. Markarth and Solitude is tied, 11 votes on both. I wonder who will win 'the most popular city in Skyrim'!

The Imperial City isn't winning the 'most popular city in Oblivion' right now. Skingrad is leading with 7 votes, 3 more votes then The Imperial City.

Vivec City is leading with just 1 more vote then Balmora (I voted for Vivec City but I love Balmora too!) :teehee:

So what do you think the result will be a week's time?
And do you dare to say what you voted? Was it a easy choice?
Speaking for myself, I'm not 100% sure about my favorite city in Oblivion. I really have two favorite there, maybe three but I can only vote on one.

OP you forgot Ebonheart in Morrowind!

Luckily my favourite was vivec. :D I always loved Anvil as well, nothing like owning a mansion by the sea, and the approach is pleasant too, always liked walking back there. In skyrim I've been digging riften, I don't know why, I've just taken enough of a shine to it that my non-thief character has based himself there.

The cities in skyrim are pathetically small compared to morrowind and oblivion. Wish they made them bigger.

Agreed. There really aren't any cities in Skyrim. Just small towns and hamlets.

Bruma has always stuck with me for some reason. It's not even due to the fact my character gets a statue made there eventually. I really can't come up with a reason as to why ... but I guess it's cause out of every city in any of the TES games, I felt most at home there. It's just ... home.

Imperial City is the most amazing city as it should be, I mean it's where the Emporer lives after all. Long Live the Empire!

Edit: Okay but I'd like Skyrim to be an independent nation.

I really liked the unique look of Morrowind cities. I was very disappointed in the Imperial City in Oblivion. The lore books state that it should be this big, majestic city. But, it wasn't. But, i now play Oblivion with the Better Cities mod. And now it looks like it should have. I do like the cities/villages in Skyrim. I think they fit the game very well.

I think Oblivion had the best cities, Skyrim's are just too small and underpopulated.

Oblivion's cities are all boring. besides the obvious architectural differences, they are all populated by equally uninteresting, drab NPCs. and it's hilarious you try to critique the populace size for towns in Skyrim when the Imperial City in Oblivion is about as large as every other town in the game (which makes no sense).

I literally can't even remember one NPC from any of the towns in Oblivion off the top of my head. but I'll ALWAYS remember Belethor and his quirky assistant Sigurd.

Right now it looks like Solitude (Skyrim) will go against Skingrad (Oblivion) and Vivec City (Morrowind) in a later poll if the voting continues this way.
I would think Imperial City would be the #1 from Oblivion, but apparently not! Still time for more votes to come in tho.
