Who's King of the wasteland?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 4:34 pm

So what creature do you believe is the most dangerous to walk the NV wasteland and why? Is it the creatures Killing skill, looks, or is it just a Pain is the @#% to kill?

For me the king is still The beastly Death Claw. He was for me in FO3 and still NV. If you a lower lvl they are a pain and if they are in a pack of 3 or more i dont even bother wit it. and they just look cool. But i seem to be able to kill them more easily then a Cazador they are just hard to shoot at some time till you shoot the wings off. but death claws will kill you faster few hits for dead it seems like and they are FAST as hell. and i think the only way iv been killed by more Cazadors is that i come across them more offen.

Cazadores are mostly just a pain in the @#$ they stay in groups most the time. they seem to come out of NO where some times they poison you. Wasp mess your day up for no reason and are always pisst to being with and Cazadores and very big versions of the tinny @#$@&

How do you celebrate your kill?

SO whos is King of the wasteland?

As of now Death Claw is By far the KING! with 49.50% of votes

Cazadores... My lord, those things are the bane of my Fallout character's existence. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't assault you like a swarm of mutated killer bees, but that's exactly how they behave. Of course that just makes killing them much more satisfying.

ME, but cazador. Deathclaws are easy to sneak around, but cazador are too fast, poison me, and like to hide inside rocks until I wander past when they can jump out and stab me in the back.

I can't say yet, as I haven't run into any Deathclaws. To be honest.. I'm scared to. It seems that critters are a bit tougher in the game than in FO3. And I'm still wee low level, so I'd probably get my head ripped off repeatedly until I can find some better armor and guns.

Cazador I hate so so much. Mohave Murder Wasp seems like a fine name for them. Way to fast, way to strong. The first time I encountered some, I saw some buzzing things in the medium distance and dismissed them as more bloatflies. How wrong I was.

The radscorpions are as annoying as ever, and seem to take more damage to put down. I just make sure I have plenty of space to run backwards, and mines don't hurt either...

The most annoying so far has been Legion Assassin squads. I ran into one of those WHILE fighting some Cazador recently... ugh. after a good 7-8 minutes of running around, dodging, using tons of healing items and even them fighting each other for a bit, the last one still managed to kill me.

I am the most fearsome thing to roam the Wasteland. Well, me and my best pals Boone and ED-E. We'll kill you dead before you even know we were within a half mile of you. :ninja:

But as to what kills me the most? It's most certainly the Cazadores. Almost always in large groups, and even if you engage from a distance, they close on you before you know it. I've yet to find a weapon that effectively puts them down quickly, without taking too much damage myself. Close, but not there yet.

By the way, since so many people have Cazadores down as their most hated/most deadly...how do you celebrate after putting down a swarm of these killers? I myself switch to a weapon I rarely use, or perhaps even a melee weapon, and go to town on their dead bodies. Boone will usually ask me what my problem is, but I still go ahead and waste a couple clips on the carcasses.

I haven't had any issues killing Deathclaw's before they even get close to me.

Cazador's however, holy crap are those things mean. Only creatures I'll avoid completely if I see them (Cazador), I'll engage Deathclaws.

I was actually just going to edit it when I read what the actual thread was about but oh well.
King of the wastes?
Lakelurks.
Deathclaws are very predictable, fast, but predictable, but the lakelurks? They fire their blue ring of death and take away one third of my health.
So I nominate the Lakelurk.

Deathclaws, while Cazadors are annoying (mostly because of their long lasting poison) they're fairly easy to take down if you target their wings in VATS. Deathclaws on the other hand are fast, powerful enough to do a lot of damage even if you're wearing power armor, and very few weapons are effective against them.

Deathclaws, at least until you can get hold of a suppressed sniper rifle.

only thing with lakelurks is they seem to die fast for what ever reason and if your at a good distance you can dodge the bubble's.

Currently deathclaws are the most dangerouse as my character cannot out run them, but cazadores are the most problamatic with their sting, i stock up on antivenom just in case, it was during a fight with some cazadore that i experienced some real depth in the game, Boone was with me, and as the last cazadore fell i heard Boone say "so this is how it ends"; this is the first time I'd experienced this but for some reason instinct took over and I rushed to Boone as he started to collapse and gave him stimpaks, at that point it was instinct not knowledge, but it was his words and his collapsing that really gave me that feeling of depth, sorry for digressing, but the OPs reminded me of that incident.

Well I'm playing an unarmed character at the moment so I have to run up to them before I can inflict damage.

Deathclaws are the most fearsome in my opinion. But I go down most often to the Giant Rad Scorpions.

As I've said before, this is mostly due to overconfidence, and my inability to accept that Obsidian made a much more realistic game than Bethesda. Every time I come across them I seem to forget that their DT hasn't magically become lower and my rifles haven't magically started doing higher damage. And as a sniper, when I decide to sneak up on them, from my normal distance, I often mistake them for normal rad scorpions, and simply draw one or two directly to me for no good reason.

At level 30, I vow to roam the wastelands and rid it of every single giant rad scorpion that I find. Because, no, I don't learn any lessons.

Cazadors. They are like radscorpions only faster and hit even harder.

I find the biggest problem with Cazadores is their erratic movement... pain in the ass to snipe because they just randomly move around non-stop and when they're charging at you they take the weirdest pathing available, drives me nuts. Not to mention they hit as hard as a deathclaw AND they poison! :meh:

Once they're close enough though, a sniper rifle V.A.T.S. headshot is all it takes... as for celebration, I don't bother because just over the next ridge is another horde of them.

Havent met any Deathclaw yet (thank God) so I don't know exactly how deadly they are, but of course I have a pretty good idea and will probably die when that day comes.

Cazadores on the other hand I've met... and damn they made me :cryvaultboy:

Yeah they are tough.

You don't know hell till you stare a Deathclaw Alpha male in the face.

Also, when I see a Cazadore, I literally go 'Oh [censored]' alot because I have learned when one attacks you, there are others waiting to pounce. :cryvaultboy:

I would have to say the most deadly are Deathclaws, and the ones that kill me the most would probably be Deaths claws, but thats only because they seem to stay in packs or 2 or 3.. I found the best weapon to kill them with is the (This machine) M1 Garrand .308 rifle with armor peircing bullets.

That Huge .50 caliber rifle svcks IMO.. Its way to slow and you can only use it once in VATS when things get hairy, i prefer the This machine over all weapons... Its totally eats through anything and any boss.

The Cazador's are probably 2nd, if it wasnt for my Companion who seems to pull aggro over me i would be dead alot from those things, i have alot of anti venom but it seems if you get hit twice from them your screwd if you dont go into your pip boy and eat alot of meds. The Giant Rad scorpions are pretty easy to kill late in the game... However since you find alot of them early game (i tended to stay away from area's with them) i would say between level 1-13 or so giant rad scorpion are pain in the ass..

I would say the DeathClaw Mother's are worse then the Alpha Males. Like in the Rock quarry if you have been there yet, there is ugly giant black death claw mother who if it wasnt for the sniper rifle and the vast distances you can shoot her at.. She would be a pain in the ass to kill... I didnt manage to kill her at a distance with the Gobi sniper Rifle because she has so much HP and armor, and when she got right in my face she was like 20 feet tall and had 10 foot long claws.

The main difference IMO between Cazadors and Deathclaws are, death claws are fast and can leep good distances, but they cant move very well when turning and stuff.. The Cazadors fly and jump all over the damn place and if it wasnt for Vats to controll the movements, i would have died more often fighting them then the deathclaws which you can simply run backwords if your fighting 1 and keep shooting him (if you arent in heavy slow armor) So yea finall conclusion is death claws are the hardest to kill because the area's you find them in, they are usually always in packs of 3 or more, and even at level 30 I still have alot of troubles killing them (mainly because i didnt pick a single perk that increases my dmg resistance) i use the Enclave armor, i found the helm in a cave and the armor at 1 deathclaw camp, i think its the highest Dmg resist item in the game and i still get pwned...

However the thing i hate more is that they seem to like veronica more then me, and even tho she has the t-51b power armor on they gets owned quickly and uses all her stimpacks if i dont kill the deathclaw fast enough... Thats why i like the M1 garrrand is shoots really fast, reloads fast and does more dmg then the .50 caliber rifle.

According to my Game guide stats of the 3

Death Claw alpha male beats every thing out. Health is 750 damage is 200, perception is 9-10.

Reg Death Claw is health 250 dam 100 pre is 8.

cazador health 200, dam 70, pre is 9 and has poison. but thats no big if you have ati venom

thats wright outa the book

oh. Cazadors. i HATE those with a passion. they always are in huge groups of like 7+ for me and poison me most of the time and they are a pain to kill, and i never use VATS, so that makes it harder. I haven't encountered any deathclaws yet, only one i saw was a young one and i sneak attack crit. killed him with an AMR

The Deathclaws easily becomes one of the most dangerous foes I face in the wasteland. I tried fighting one and fail really hard. I avoided them altogether from that time and out. Cazador, on the other hand, killed me the most. They are fast, annoying, and are equivalent to poison tipped homing missile.
