Hey dont be so negative. I wish people could see the positive things instead of just the negative things....
Why would I ever be positive when Bethesda is in charge?
Better to be a pessimist and be positively suprised when things turn out good than to be an optimist and get crushed when things turn out crap.
And with Bethesda? Heh, it's not gonna be total crap but it's hardly gonna live up to expectations either.
[edit]
Allow me to flesh that out.
Fallout 3.
Got 5 DLC's.
We got a linear shooter, an RPG DLC which felt way too short, a DLC that [censored] over the storyline (bad as it was) but did other things right, a sandbox DLC and a big dungeon crawler set in outer space.
Now, the actual RPG DLC was The Pitt, it had choices, it didn't have a black and white morality and it was the best one artistically.
And the one that did a few things right was Broken Steel, it added new perks to the leveled lists and added new enemies and some new locations to the main game.
Why be cynical?
Cause every DLC that Bethesda creates for Skyrim is most likely going to be a overly combat heavy sideadventure set in an isolated area outside of Skyrim.
What I think DLC's should do?
Flesh out the actual game.
Point Lookout may have been fun to explore through but it didn't add anything apart from Punga Fruits to vendor lists to the Capital Wasteland.
So when you got done with PL, MZ, TP and O:A and hell let's throw in FNV's DLC's as well, LSR, DM, OWB and HH then you go back to the 'actual game' and nothing has happened.
You got a nice little adventure and some toys to bring back but now you're back in the same boring overplayed wasteland like you were before you entered the DLC's area.
That's my general beef with Bethesda and DLC's.
As to Bethesda themselves. They don't have a good writing staff and focus on quantity over quality, so we'll get a [censored]load of content that is really hollow.
So the new quests? The new storylines? Might be fun, but they're going to be a 3 hour adventure with a linear storyline which after you've completed there is no incentive to complete it again.
The new characters? Probably black and white, Bethesda don't do intruiging plot twists very well. So I wouldn't expect there to be a colourful cast for the DLC's. One or two characters will stand out, the rest will seem boring and repetitive.
And the new weapons? A dagger is still a dagger, might be a different paintjob and stats but it's still a dagger. Nothing new and exciting will come to any other playstyle but magic.
I just don't see a point in being optimistic.
