blue ray affords for this...xbox holds us back.
i laugh when i read i want the next es game to be in *.

The Xbox isn't holding us back. Bethesda having finite time and less money than all the reserves of China is holding back having an Elder Scrolls Tamriel that goes into as much detail for each province as Skyrim does for Skyrim. That TES MMORPG coming out will have no where near the level of detail that Skyrim does.

Or Bethesda could take the assets from Morrowind and Oblivion, Skyrimitize them, and release them as empty DLC worlds which the TESV modding community can create content for. Of course that would leave console players out in the rain.

Or here's a novel idea... After The Elder Scrolls Online launches, let Bethesda use the maps created by ZOS in TES VI.

if they didnt waste all that time on radiant shiet that didnt get used...they could have built an awesomer game, its all about priorities. graphics or size?

PS3 couldn't handle it either. It reads Blu-Ray so slow that if they want the games to run as well as 360s, they have to put 4+ copies of the data on the disc or give you multiple discs to install on the hard drive. Please be knowledgable before bashing the 360. By multiple discs, I'm thinking about the game you are describing, not current games.

Considering the next elderscrolls will be on the xbox720 and ps4 your argument about xbox holding them back is pointless.

Anyway basing elder scrolls 6 in the whole of tamriel would limit their options for elder scrolls 7 which is why it will probably be based in a single province.
Also as the next elder scrolls would probably be on blu-ray no matter which console it is on they could still make the game bigger without having to be based in the whole of tamriel.

OP, quit high fiving yourself with the fact you have blu ray and Xbox has DVD, in the end your specs aren't any better than the 360.

Oh, and PS3 is actually holding back TES as well. If we were only on PC, we could have done amazing things with the game.

Enjoy your own medicine.

I don't really think you understand the process of making a game.

I don't think it has anything to do with xbox, I think it just has to do with the fact that getting one province pollished is hard enough, much less the entire continent. Also, if they did the entire continent, where would the next game take place?

I don't know... MMO worlds can be pretty bloody big and detailed. Have you played Lord of the Rings Online. Its world was huge even at launch and it was chock full of detail. You can even climb to the top of Weathertop, where the ruins of Amon Sul can be found, and see the symbold Gandalf scrawled on the rock there.

it was cool idea to have radiant "redoable" quests but they wasted half the dev cycle for something that didnt pan out. they could have made tamriel in that wasted time frame.

and as for the "where would the next game take place" arguement, why couldnt it be the same place with a different 'story'? u remember those right? stories? plots? location isnt the only story telling tool.

Well if TES VI takes place in Skyrim it won't be any good.
However if we get Skyrim + Hammerfell + High Rock it will be amazing !

If they did the entire game, what would happen is... the actual game size would be the same, just each province is smaller. I think its actually better that they devote an entire game to each province.

The amount of fail and idiocy in this thread is through the roof. This just shows how intelligent these PS3 players are. Considering most PS3's can't even play Skyrim how would you play an entire continent? And this PC only nonsense needs to stop. Morrowind brought TES to Xbox and it should have stayed Xbox and PC exclusive. That way the Microsoft consoles would get more focus and Microsoft might even let us use mods for TES on our consoles since they wouldn't be having a war with Sony about TES.

Worldbuilding is not a technological issue as much as it is a time and work issue. This has more or less been true since Morrowind. You could have a new Elder Scrolls covering all of Tamriel, but don't expect individual regions to have nearly as much depth, detail and content. We have the horsepower to handle it, but it requires an unrealistic amount of work to fully realize it.

Does the author understand that what takes up most disk space is cutscenes, not gameworld, not quests, nor monsters, but animations? TES isn't exactly an innovator in cutscenes nor animation, if the developers wanted to, sure, they could build the entire world on one 360 game disk. But they are not going to, because a project of that size has a lot of ambition and it is not a good idea to try that in one game, because they will inevitably fall short and compromise on that ambition. Get realistic OP

...iv been on the internet long enough to know where this is going.

OP, the ps3 is just as guilty as xbox (probably more considering, from the all the ps3 players comlaining, beth does not seem to understand how to make a game for the ps3 [or they just do not care])

Can someone link me where all that information is? I keep hearing about how Radiant failed horribly, but dunno where to read up on that.
