Why arearen't you a werewolf?

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 12:15 pm

Became a werewolf because of the internal politics of the Companions. Then my female Nord realized she didn't like the feeling of losing control of herself, even though it saved her ass several times, and decided to return to normal as soon as possible. Not that she has a problem with werewolves as a whole, the person she married still retains the ability and she wouldn't change him for the world.

I like it cause you can turn into one at will whenever you want, and it isn't something with so many obvious downsides like vampirism.

Also, seeing enemies get thrown around like ragdolls when I [censored]-slap them with my claw is arousing (yeah I've got problems).

Being a werewolf is really fun, but my character wants to go to Sovngarde when she dies.
Same. My character will use it while he's young, but will cure it when he gets older. Being bound to Daedra is not the ideal afterlife.

To each their own. But I think "A mead swilling afterlife" as Aela put it, it not as exciting as ripping people to shreds for eternity.

im a werewolf because its cool and for the 100% resist disease, and its handy during the dark brotherhood quests if you'r not the sneaky type while you are a werewolf you can kill ppl in cities without getting a bounty, you just have to transform somewhere hidden :)

I'm not going to go with werewolf until some mods flesh it out. Turn it into something other than a spell to cast to clear out a fort.

Forced transformations all night a few times a month, wild werewolves, feeding on elk, no werewolf form during the day, first person view, etc.

The fact that you can't play as a werewolf in first person keeps me away.

Hey, you Companions are cool. Nice, strong work ethic, good sense of humor, interesting people to work with. Glad I signed on.

What's that? You want me to drink monster blood so I can turn into an abomination of nature and sell my soul to some twisto Daedric Prince I've never heard of before?

Can I get back to you on that? I just remembered I have to .... go somewhere else.

Personally? I was sorely tempted to leave the Companions questline at the moment it requires you to become a Werewolf.

As it stood, I accepted the disease to advance the plot and cured it at the first opportunity. I used the form once, during Hircine's quest, when I teamed up with the other Werewolf to tear through some Hunters. Ultimately, I didn't care for the mechanic.

As for in game reason, my Nord isn't going to sacrifice Sovengarde just to be a mutt.

Is there no one who would want to kill people in the afterlife and rip them to shreds with claws and teeth rather than act like some fat drunk burping eternity away? Eh. Hell no I would not want to go to Shor's little bar and waste away eternity drinking. Sovngarde=snow and more snow. Hircine's Hunting Grounds=Large forests, rivers of blood, a red sun, a single moon, endless savannah and canyons. Also, there are nords there who are werebears who hunt down mortals and kills them. At night, Hircine and the werewolves join the hunt and kill whatever is out there. My sort of afterlife.

There is no violence in Sovngarde if Alduin didn't come along.

Werewolf gameplay is actually a lot of fun. Super fast stamina regen, power attacks that all feel differrent and useful (rag dolling enemies with power attack in particular is just lovely)
self healing that depends on forward action ( killing). You can feed for health by hitting the feed then interrupting the animation with your howl. Games like God of War show how much more fun this is than just drinking potions and stuff.

I'd absolutely play a mod that had werewolf-rules combat but for human form.

I think both werewolves and vampires do need some fleshing out in Skyrim. Vampirism in skyrim is useless, it's a debuff. Wolfing out is mostly a straight buff. Vampires don't have any quest content unlike the companions for Wolves/falkreath hircine quest ( however short it is).

Haven't become a werewolf yet, but probably will before long. (just to complete the questline)

My character is already beastly without the transformation.

I utterly hate that they removed first person werewolf view, it destroyed the whole experience for me. I loved how in Bloodmoon you could se your claws infront of you in first person, it felt awesome. I also hate that you don't jump any higher when your a werewolf, and I hate the time system when you are a werewolf aswell, so not a good experience att all :/

Bethesda got only one thing right with the werewolves in Skyrim, their look. They look fantastic, and not like a Warner Brothers certain coyote character, like they did in Bloodmoon. I play on a console, so sadly I will never see them improve with mods. To really make them better, Bethesda should have done the following. There are so many animals in the wild, put them to use and allow the werewolf to feed on ANY animal/humanoid to extend the beast form. Give them night vision with toggle like the vampires have. Add random wild werewolves in the wild, using the same system as the random dragons. First person view is a must. Do we want to feel like we are the beast, or just watching the beast? I will never understand why they didn't add this mode. These are all very basic and obvious ideas that would have made the werewolf experience much better. Aren't werewolves suppose to be able to jump high and long? Why is it that they can only jump as high as any humanoid? I would love to ask Bethesda why they didn't do something similar to what I suggested. Also, allow the companions to transform with me when I do, if they are my traveling companion.

It's quite useful for quickly getting to new forts/caves/hideouts. B)

As for my in-game reason...
Spoiler
It was necessary to join the inner circle of the companions.
I don't plan to cure it anytime soon...

Impractical.

- Long transformation.
- Dont get normal skillups.
- End up naked and have to reequip gear.
- Not really stronger than your normal character, and gets weaker the stronger you get.
- Like vampires, little to none werewolf specific quests.

The best thing about it for me is the 100% disease resistance. (On PC, haven't updated to 1.2) It means I can beat on Vampires all day long and not have to worry.

Outside of that I never use it except for the rare case when the game strips me of my gear.

I dont like the werewolves feature in this game, the quest is real short and theres no wolves out in the wild.Seems they added it just for the hell of it.

Well I cured it imediatly, its completly useless on masters, and restoration with stamina perk is just has good for runing around.

If you retained gear stats when transforming, including dmg being dependant on weapon used/skill lvl then werewolf would be a nice addition, has it is it feels like you become 10x times weaker when you transform, wich is about truth (losing all armor), and aperent fixed dmg.

I figured that I would go ahead and become one since transformations are voluntary. I can ignore it when I feel like it and turn when I want to.

I did it because i was curious how it would progress quest wise, after the quest line where done i cured myself, but i never regained the resting bonus. And my days as werewolf keep getting higher, but i no longer can become one, buggy if you ask me.

I got the game specifically with the intention of rolling a character that would become a lycanthrope. It's a great Jekyll-and-Hyde experience and I love the implementation of the werewolves in the game right down to sprinting on all fours like a wolf and using roars to make bandits [censored] their pants. Really the only downside to becoming one is the false sense godliness it gives you you're not a very high level yet when you change. I was only about level 6 or 7, tore some enemies to shreds around town for a few days, then wandered off to an overpowered dungeon and was repeatedly owned load after load by enemies clearly much stronger than me.

Cannot pick up items.
Gets owned a little too easily at high level/master difficulty.

I don't like relying on it, I feel like it isn't really me. Just some fun cool "beast mode" thing to do. Plus you can't pick up items or do anything till it goes away, when I did have it, it was solely for the speed.
