Why did you marry your wife?

Post » Sun Jun 24, 2012 12:45 pm

So in different forums I often see topics on *who* your character married. I don't really think I have ever seen a topic specifically on *why* you picked who you did (except the people in the who threads very rarely adding a "because" to their post)

So I wonder: What reasons did you have for picking your in-game spouse? I'm interested in anything ranging from "She is the prettiest" to "Because I needed a house and my poor character was tired of being homeless" all the way to "Because I wanted to unlock the Achievement/Trophy on my Xbox/PS3"

I'll start. I married Sylgja because:

1. I found her to be one of the more attractive NPCs (as "attractive" as a bunch of pixels can get)

2. She is a Nord which is a very important thing for my Stormcloak (Roleplay reasons)

3. I like the fact that my character actually knows her family and actually spends time chopping off heads and cave diving with his mother-in-law (It is a nice touch to RP to have "family" join in on adventures)

4. I really like her humble little home in Shor's Stone as the "simple but warm home" for my Dragonborn who has gone through a harrowing tale of gaining power through the Companions, falling to his darker desires to the DB and Thieves Guild before finding his peace and salvation through the Mage's College and defeating Alduin and finally his disgust at the poilitics involved in the Civil war before deciding to leave it all behind and settle down and give it all up for a family and quiter life.

Married Aela because she wild and her armor fits her well.

Married Camila because I thought it be nice to sweep her away from sven and that wood elf, but due to her lack of faith for our marriage(caught her with that elf in my house) I divorce her.

Married Muri because I thought it be fun to marry a woman that knows what her husband does for a living.

I just wanted the achievement. (PC). I married Sylgia as well because... well, she was the first female nord to come along (for rp reasons, I limited myself to a female nord). I just eqiuped my amulet of mara, and played the game normally until I found a female nord who was interested. Then I sent her off to Proudspire manor, and reequiped my amulet of articulation.

Jenessa, at first for the trophy, but when the game became corrupted, and I had to start over, I did it again. Not to sure why though.

Mjoll. I'm somewhat hazy on why I married her, but I think Aela was just too manly.

You need a personal trainer and emotional support because all the Nords bully you. Right?

Mjolls so much more manlier. Aela still ranges in the Tomboy area, which I find hot, for some reason (tomboys, not Aela, I'm not attracted to video game characters)

I marry Ysolda, chiefly because you can very early, when the money is useful. But I also like coming home and seeing a friendly face.

So you choose a girl who talks to much and has a boy following her everywhere over a girl who looks good and has wild side.....Did Mjoll put something in your drink?

And all the innuendo that accompanies that statement.

Mine was the first one I saw in Jorrvaskr. No idea why I married her. I hate her guts and ended up killing her. Thanks for the inheritance Njada!

 I asked myself that many times...

I don't remember. That's because I was drunk.

In the game I wed the sultry Priestess from Markarth and The Dunmer from The Drunken Huntsman. The first was for fantasy the latter was for fun...and levelingt perks.

You married Jenessa as well?

Good to see that not everyone goes after Aela. Overrated She-Wolf, I say!

When Bethesda makes something cool like Daderic armor it being used a lot and is all over the place! That is what Aela is the Daderic armor of marriage.

Marrying gives you a general merchant at a very convenient location that's open 24 hours a day. It's nice to come home at night loaded with loot and be able to get rid of junk right away.

I have always felt that she wears too much make-up to be honest.

Also anyone marrying Mjoll obviously is just looking for a little more quantity to the quality of their love life. I mean, you get a woman that follows like a love-struck dog. Also she comes with Mjoll

My first married character married Ysolda. She admires Khajitts and I was one so... made sense. Plus she's easy on the eyes and I like her voice. Plus if she ever buys that tavern in whiterun...

I did the Aela the Huntress marrage with another character. Didn't really like how she greets me afterwards. No pleasent anything from her. But she is a wild girl...

Sylgja is who two of my other characters both married. She is a sweet young girl. Easy on the eyes and her voice is beautiful. She's a hard worker and the only one I know of that has an actualy family. Example her folks are alive, you can visit them and even get her mom (your mother in law) to be a follower.

Lydia and an Orc female from a strong hold are both married to my other characters. Lydia still doesn't like carrying things but she cooks and cleans without complaint haha.

Really? She greets me nicely, 'hon'.

I married Aela because she was a fellow companion, looked good in her armor and was a wild child.
