Why Fallout 3 will always be better than Fallout NV

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 2:07 pm

Ah Fallout 3.....

Back when you didn't have to wait for an extra day for vendors to refill their stock and the ammo system was simple.
Back when you grew up a Vault,
Back when you didn't need hight agility to run? remotely fast.
Back when every single Vault had something interesting and sinister inside, not some Raiders or convicts occupying it
Back when their where no stupid factions and you were given more freedom in your actions.
Back when The Capital Wasteland felt truly desolate and post Apolycatic. Back when the places you explored just didn't have Sunset Sasparilla Star Bottle Caps.
Back when the radio was actually good, the music on itwasn`t some crappy country music and the DJ had some energy
Back when loading screens only took 20-30 seconds
Back when I had fun playing Fallout.

You do know that playing Fallout 3 is as easy as putting the game disc into the drive, right?

I'm tempted to make a list of my own but I'm tired and hungry.

Simple and action oriented or complex and story oriented.... guess they should just release one of each type every generation of the series to keep everyone angry? :P

No, just no!!

The ending was: Ohmygosh!!! Turn on the purifier!! Should I put the virus in the water? No! Your an angel! Yes! You're a demon!!!!

I was railroaded down a narrow path I did not want to follow.

Fallout 3 just had that "Fallout feel" Fallout NV just cant grasp. Sure Fallout NV made improvements, but Fallout 3 will always truly feel like a post-apolycatic wasteland based on the 1950`s

The music of Fallout 3 was way better than Fallout NV. Even the Wasteland itself was better. Walking through the Urban ruins of DC felt like walking through a museum, imagining how people lived back in the Pre-War World. It just doesnt feel the same in Fallout NV.

Funnny, I actually kind of agree. New Vegas isn't bad, it's just a different approach. What I really hate in NV is how terrible the sniper rifles are after the patch. Honestly, what kind of losers care about weapon balancing in a single player game? Now I can't play the game the way I like to anymore thanks to the new terrible balancing. That is what has truly killed all the fun in the game for me. If I wanted to run and run or spray and pray, I would play some COD. If I wanted to play a competitive FPS with balanced weapons, I would play COD. Fallout is supposed to be a single player experience, who honestly needs weapon balancing in that?

FALLOUT IS NOT COD, FALLOUT IS A RPG OVER A FPS :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

  • You're more than welcome to go play some other shooter that has all rifles using teh same ammo even when they don't IRL, and have only one flavor.
  • And that has what to do with being "better"?
  • Again, other games that don't have RPG stats affect your character may be more to your liking.
  • Huh? Have you even examined the vaults? Vault 11 takes the cake as far as sinister-ness.
  • Huh? Again, have you played the game? You have lots more options than the straight-as-rails story of FO3.
  • Surprise surprise, when nukes get shot out of the sky during nuclear armageddon, the area those nukes were targeting the region gets spared the nuclear fire.
  • Urg... And if we had a 3-Dog clone, people would be complaining about copycatting.
  • 20-30 seconds... Ahh, I guess you're a Consoler. 10 seconds or less for me, unless it's one of the casinos that I have a mod that loads oodles extra more filler NPCs.
  • Then by all means, go back. We won't mind.

EDIT: Sarcasm? You sure? Poe's law.

Hey, I already said that someone prefers Batman & Robin to Dark Knight or the one by Tim Burton, wight? :hubbahubba:

I might be taking a stab in the dark here, but it sounds like FO3 is your first fallout. You might want to school yourself on what a "real" fallout game is by looking at the original games.

FO3 is some bastardization of console shooters and oblivion (Don't get me wrong I still love it and play it from time to time)

This is sort of like the new threads crying about how sniper rifles were changed. "Me want IWIN button" "No fun, me want roll face on button and thing die!" Or something along those lines.

Play Fallout 1 and 2 first, then Fallout 3, and again NV,

notice the difference,

Some people here preffer New Vegas than FO3, stop bothering us, if you want to post things like this, do it in the FO3 discussion or in the FO3 VS NV trhead.

Seriously, this becoming very repetitive

Fallout 3 lacks maturity and is a total bastardization like someone said of the classics. Most FO3 fans are TES fans IMO but the core of Fallout can't be compared to these games.

Thanks for listening chilllldren!

Ah Fallout 3.....

Back when you didn't have to wait for an extra day for vendors to refill their stock and the ammo system was simple.
What do you mean? Ammo system IS simple. It is not rocket science... HP rounds are for lightly armored targets, AP Rounds are for heavy armed targets. What is not to get? You buy them or make them, simple as that.
Back when you grew up a Vault,
What about it? Growing up in the Vault isn't a key item in the fallout franchise. Vaults are vaults, explore them and RP you just got out of one.
Back when you didn't need hight agility to run? remotely fast.
What? This is false. I have 1 Agility, and I still run as fast as if I had 10 Agility. What armor are you wearing?
Back when every single Vault had something interesting and sinister inside, not some Raiders or convicts occupying it
Have you even BEEN exploring? These vaults have wonderful, awesome stories. You probably only went into 1 Vault, what a shame.
Back when their where no stupid factions and you were given more freedom in your actions.
*Slap* These factions give you actual choice. In Fo3 all the options you had were either making water clean or putting a virus in it. This game actually makes you think for a change.
Back when The Capital Wasteland felt truly desolate and post Apolycatic.
Ya, the CAPITAL WASTELAND. This isn't that place. This is a different area, where water is clean, there are very few cities, and most of it is out in the open.

Back when the places you explored just didn't have Sunset Sasparilla Star Bottle Caps.
Once again, I think you are just half assing your exploration.
Back when the radio was actually good, the music on itwasn`t some crappy country music and the DJ had some energy
It's as simple as turning it off. <.<
Back when loading screens only took 20-30 seconds
This is a mere glitch. But, I don't have it, my loading screens are fast. Some areas are more heavily populated than others...
Back when I had fun playing Fallout.
Then go play it again...? If you don't like the game, don't play it, and go back to the original. I for one love New Vegas. It kicks the crap out of Fallout 3 in almost every way.

What Im trying to say is that Fallout 3 just certain aspects that Fallout NV couldnt convey like Fallout 3. Like the radio is much better in Fallout 3 than Fallout NV. Walking through the Capital Wasteland is like walking through a museum, as one can imagine how pre-war life was like. The wasteland was much more desolate and ruined, Dont even get me started with the dialogue, the dialogue in Fallout NV is just plain, dull and boring. The dialogue options in Fallout 3 were funny, well written and interesting.

I like fallout 3 equally to fallout new vegas however, the new additions just make fallout new vegas a great game as fallout 3.
