Why do you play opposite gender characters (if you do?)

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 12:09 am

I play a male character and then will do a female character after. That is my process because I need the next playthrough to be a lot different otherwise I will be bored.

I miss the option to play a transgender person...damn narrowminded gender-facists automatically alters my clothing into dresses....

I thought someone had made a transgender mod, but it turned out to be a joke.

I do it mostly because I can...and I just don't give a [censored] what people think about my gaming habits. My opinion is one of, "My game, my time, my business."

Nobody ever play gay males? We need some balance here, I am going to have to make my argonian enchanter take his companion Cosnach up to High Hrotgar for some Brokeback Mountain moments...

Erotic fan-fiction to follow...

personally, i don't "get into" the female characters. the psyches of those who do that will forever remain a mystery to me. and, a mystery not needed to be solved.

play a female and don't try and get into it.

it's all gameplay.
If I'm playing a Bethesda game I have to get in to my character. I'm not one for talking in third person or referring to my character by name, but I do have to make mine slightly believable to me. Playing as the opposite gender just doesn't cut it.

Get bored, in RPG's like this I always have a female and a male character.

For some reason I always make the female evil and the male good.

A good name for a woman would be Areolas The Healthy.

*waves* Almost nobody. Only fair to balance out all the men playing lisbians, I suppose. :P (Not that I don't occasionally create a lisbian character too... like I said before, variety).

...And I have no allusions to be female- at all.
But...your avi is female.....

This is such an excellent point!

A forum avatar is sort of a indication of "you" on this forums.

But a character in a role play game is not you.

Playing a lady character doesn't mean you have allusions of wanting to be female. Just like having a lady avatar doesn't mean that.

If it did then playing an assassin would mean that you have allusions of wanting to murder innocent people, right?

Or like my previous post in this thread, playing an Argonian would mean you have allusions of wanting to be a lizard.

And Skyrim is such a good setting for it...it's got all those mountains, and those priests of Mara are so open-minded...not like those b****** of Dibella...

Btw...anyone ever seen a female giant?? How do they procreate?? (Don't tell me, it's the mammoths right?)

If I have the option I prefer to play a female- I'm female and can identify more easily. Out of 5 Skyrim characters only my latest is male and I haven't gotten very far in his game. In Dragon Age Origins I rolled one male out of I guess a dozen characters, to play the Morrigan romance. I never played a male in Fallout 3 or FNV.

That's why I don't get the "my characters are like me, so they're lisbians" thinking. My male characters are like me, so they're hetero. In the case of a romantic story line, I identify with the woman he's wooing, not the PC.

Maybe I don't want to understand... :ermm:

I play the opposite six for the same reason people play races that they're not in real life.

It's something different, some of them look better, and it's a game,

I don`t. I like to play as me, so I don`t play females... that way I get more immersed. I supposed if I played in 3rd person where I stare at my character butt all day then I would play female.

And I have no allusions to be female- at all.

And yet your forum avatar is a girl.....

Yes, the same way you can create a backstory, goal and higher meaning for your character.
Just ask any of the immersive-roleplaying guys on the forum.
Where's your imagination?

This^

Well, I play mostly females, because a character which I see hundreds of hours got to be attractive in my eyes :liplick: .

This too^^

Nobody ever play gay males? We need some balance here, I am going to have to make my argonian enchanter take his companion Cosnach up to High Hrotgar for some Brokeback Mountain moments...

I imagine some do, but that is just too much for me. I am male. I love women and the female body, be that in RL, movie, art, cartoon or game.

This is such an excellent point!

This is what I thought and Mags is a trip.

I started a female char in FONV, named Tels Vasir. Her ship crashed to Earth after she ran into the satellite for BM. My excuse for creating an EW specialists. I just wished she could have been romanced in ME2. :swear:
