Will you buy the next Bethesda game?

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 4:29 am

Well anyone that has played the other TES games or fallout games knows how Bethesda works, bugs bugs and bugs.

But lets be honest here, Skyrim is the LEAST buggiest game from Bethesda.
Well it didn't help them much for ruining the game with their awesome patch.

Well i wasn't planning on getting Skyrim on the release date anyways, it so happened that i won it.
I started the game and i did notice some small bugs, until i got screwed over on the main quest with a crazy glitch.
Couldn't be bothered to start over again.

Now don't get me wrong, i don't hate Bethesda or anything, no matter the bugs i still love the games. Do i trust them as a company that care about anything but money? Well they have awesome games, so in someway they care, right?.

But buying a Bethesda game from start = crap, which i don't recommend to anyone....but then again, someone has to beta test this game on release right?

So the question is, don't bash on Bethesda now. I'm just wondering if people are gonna be the beta testers in the future or buy a "fully" functional game later?

I mean come on, lets be honest here....Bethesda did not fix Oblivion, the modding community did.

Oh an answer from the Bethesda crew would be nice aswell, since the posts on this thread might give you some insight. What's your thoughts about this Bethesda? I know i know a big game like this MUST have bugs, i don't disagree with it, but it's seldom that you guys actually sort a patch which fixes the most important bugs. Well what's important is kinda from person to person right? But game breaking bugs?.

I'm not angry that the game bugged on me, i was ready for it, i just have to wait until the modding community sorts this out.

Buy the next Bethesda game or wait a couple of months?.

It depends. If it's as good as Skyrim and as in-depth as Fallout 3, then yes. If it's anything like Brink, NO!

The only thing that would ever keep me from buying an Elder Scrolls game on release day, is if they start shrinking the development time to put out more games more often, like CoD, Madden NFL/ FIFA and that kind of crap. In fact, TES games are the only games I buy on release, other games I get when they're seriously discounted. For example, the game series I'd consider paying the most for other than TES is the Fallout games, and I don't buy those until they're at least 50%.

It's not that I lack the money, it's just that I'm generally a one-game-per-time kind of guy, simply can't spread my attention across several games at once.

I bought Bethesda games on the release date before, but Fallout : New vegas scared me away.

Depends on how effective the pre-release hype is.

I'll be first in line if the rest of you don't all get there first. :D I love Bethesda's open world games, thank you Bethesda. I have a fantastic time in their worlds and wish they could come out faster. I wouldn't want to work them to death though; they're extremely talented people and put a lot of themselves into the game and it shows in one amazing way after another. I've been here on the forums for the release of FNV and now Skyrim and any anticipated problems Skyrim is having at release were expected, so people shouldn't buy on release day if they can't handle some bugs in a huge game like this. I'll handle it because I love the games. I'm excited to keep learning the skills and I can see how much has to be learned because when I battle a really tough enemy, it takes some trial and error to see what works and what doesn't. Last night's battle was an eye-opener and very exciting.
Spoiler
I was disarmed for the first time and the Sanguine Rose and Staff of Magnus both disappeared from my hands during the fight. The enemy had a Disarm spell? Wow.

So anyway, I'm having a blast and I'll be here.

Of course. I know full well what to expect from their games. Especially as a PC user, most of the starter bugs/glitches can be avoided, so I don't really even mind them. I'm up to 120 hours in Skyrim already and haven't had more than 5 bugs myself.

I dont get it... I played Oblivion GOTY edition on Xbox and had NO bugs whatsoever, and no psychic guards.... The only bugs i did have were funny ones, but apart from that, no main quest was bugged, no side quest was bugged, nothing important was bugged whatsoever.

Can someone give me an example of a bug from Oblivion which wa really bad that i am missing? =S

seeing as how the game(s) are getting watered down, I'll probably move onto bigger and better pastures or just start replaying old favs from an age long past.

I will wait and see how things turn out with Skyrim.
If Bethesda proves to me that they care about the games they make and that they do their best to fix all the flaws (not only bugs, but other things as well) they can, then I will pre-order every TES (I'm not a FO player) they release.
In case they prove me otherwise, I won't buy their games at all anymore. :)

It depends. What's their next game?

I don't blindly buy all games that one developer makes and I imagine those are a minority so it all depends on what title we're talking about.

And seriously? You're asking for Bethesda to answer in this topic?

EDIT: Also, no matter how many times you repeat that you're not angry, you're not that good hiding your true feelings.

I'm not sure. I already barely have time to play Skyrim and in a few years, I'll be even busier. The line of work I have chosen is tough and time consuming.

Next Bethesda game? Very much depends, I basically bought Rage thinking, ID = good, Bethesda = good, and was disappointed, so no. Any TES game is instant preorder though, always.
