Will you buy the next Bethesda game?

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 10:51 am

I'm never a blind fan, and make my decisions based on the product itself.

With that said, assuming Bethesda's next game is anything like Fallout 3, Oblivion, or Skyrim, I'll definitely consider it. Though there are issues with Skyrim (mostly on the graphical side for me), it's been 100% playable and - more importantly - 100% enjoyable.

If its TES, yes, if not, probably no. I love Skyrim, and I have managed 150 hours so far with full time college studies... However, I really am disappointed with the number of bugs I have encountered, its like they didn't even have any beta test at all of the pc version...
The bugs that I specifically encountered are:
? Sound option making game crash on launch
? Video card not detected by default
? Crash to desktop because of RAM restrictions (fixed with 4gb launcher)
? Glowing eyes from detect life shout
? Random agro from quest-essential npcs

I have only learned the very basics of programming, but to me those sounds like rather easy to fix flaws, which make me question how much they really care about the users post-purchase... If they don't, no wonder people pirate the games instead; if you are going to get dumped on by the developers, you don't want to pay for it. Don't get me wrong though, I really love the game, but I lack the necessary post-launch support.

p.s. One thing that really buggs me is that they haven't even mentioned the 4gb launcher fixing frequent crashes in a sticky... And judging from the 59,243 unique downloads of ONE version of it from the nexus, a lot of people are having the same issue...

Unless they start to seriously butcher the lore or the gameplay so its not even recognizable you can pretty much write me up for the next one.

I'll buy it if it comes with a Construction Set or Creation Kit or equivalent. I didn't buy anything from Gothic series, Two Worlds 2, Dragon Age 2, Witcher 2 because none of those games came with mod tools.

Not on the first day unless they start BETA Testing there products like every one else

i play egosofts X seires & there BETA tested before launch day even there MODS get tested by the comunity before Launch

i will still buy Beth's games but only after testing & if they dont test i will wait till the games are £5-£10 no more

Absolutely I will. Ive been running my warrior through the Companion Order quests and Im only a few off finishing and it has been absolutely magnificent. Ive loved every second of it.
I will keep going until she maxes her level.

Only two game series do I purchase whenever they get released.... TES and DooM, so ya I will buy the next Elder Scrolls as soon as it's available. So far I'm pretty happy with Skyrim. Next up is Doom 4.... :teehee:

TES or Fallout? Sure. I love their games, know to live with the bugs until they are fixed by patches or mods. As long as a PC version is made, I'll get it.
Another franchise? Depends if it interests me or not.
Not on the PC? Hells no.

I'm definitely going to be buying the next... well... not the next Bethesda game, but next Elder Scrolls game, for sure.

Gonna wait a few months, though. I am a supporter of Bethesda, but I'm not going to blindly follow them into another bugfest on release day, haha! You'd think I'd learn my lesson after Fallout: New Vegas, but Skyrim's one of those exceptions. I love RPGs. And Bethesda spoiled me with their type of RPGs.

If its Elder Scrolls definitely. I just hope they add more stuff to the next one instead of take things away. Fallout yes I felt Bethesda did a great job on Fallout 3, even tho it cannot compare go The Elder Scrolls. I would also like them to add more to that game instead of take away.

Based on my experiences with Morrowind, I bought both Oblivion and Fallout3. I considered it a worthwhile risk, figuring that the Creation Kits would allow modders to bring them up to par if they weren't already. That hope was only partially realized in OB, since even the best of the "overhauls" merely band-aids the problems, not fixes them.

I didn't buy FO:NV for the same reason I still haven't bought Skyrim: lack of an internet connection to the floor of the building with my gaming PC, and a lethargic dial-up connection even if I drag it down two flights of stairs and set it up temporarily on the livingroom floor. Besides, from what I hear, Skyrim has the same underlying "rat race" scaling and levelling system as Oblivion, player-based combat instead of character-based, and doesn't really allow much leeway in terms of non-combat skills without your character falling behind the difficulty curve. Hopefully, the modders will have a bit more freedom, and hopefully the game will eventually be released in some other form that I can use.

If the next TES installment uses Steam, I won't be buying that either.

I bought the GOTY games on steam when they went for peanuts. Skyrim is the first game - from any company - that I have bought on release. I believed the hype, but the game needs fixing. Next time I'll wait for the bargain and the mods.

I am a huge fan of the Fallout games and Skyrim. The answer is yes, they will get my money and even DLC money. Every game has bugs and glitches. THe developers are human an make mistakes and miss things. Overall, the Fallout 3, New Vegas and Skyrim games are outstanding and provided long term entertainment. I'm at 113 hours in SKyrim and I'm probably 40% complete. This game is in my top 3.

When Fallout 3 came out I waited about two months to purchase it and had no complaints. Bought Fallout NV on release day it and it was a buggy mess. Next time I'll try to show some restraint and wait a bit. The devs almost always need time to work out all the bugs they should have caught in beta testing (and that goes for most games/companies).

Let me think, will I buy the next game from my favorite developer who has given thousands of hours of enjoyment with their games when they release something new? Absolutely. And for the record, Skyrim might have a few bugs, but I think it is amazing. The bugs will get sorted out. Thankfully they haven't really affected me.

I enjoyed Skyrim enough that I will have no problem buying the next game they put out if it happens to be in my taste range.

I have Rage atm and that is fun as well.

I have no idea if I'll end up with the next generation console in order to get the next TES but as long as they continue to make the series have a decent leveling system I'll keep getting TES games.
