I wish NPC's would recognize

There's a simple solution to this:

The game needs to have a reputation system. It already has one but needs to be expanded. Breaking the law gives Dovahkiin negative rep. and puts a bounty on his head. The opposite should be true for positive acts: Killing Dragons, Becoming Jarl (currently completely useless), Helping Citizens ... etc. Reputation should stay region-specific as it is. There a should be a scale of reputation which the game should indicate to the player with a list of crimes he is notorious for in given regions with bounty for each crime, the ultimate rep should be "Hero" where all know that you are the Dragonborn and many status points in-between, witnesses of heroic acts would spread the word of your heroism just like they do for the crimes you commit. This is just a quick idea i had a while a go and thought I would share, I will probably think more about this in detail and do a proper write-up of the concept. I don't think it should be terribly hard to implement it in the game. Possibly by Bethesda themselves but it begs the question: Why did they not do this to begin with?

I agree with this. Eevrything seems a little too static. One thing I wish they would have done, which I know would have been quite a feat, and more than likely incapable of being implemented, is to seriously make the dragons a threat. Like a REAL threat. That if you don't deal with these dragons, consequences would happen. The land would change, people would die. houses would get burned to the ground. You know that live action TV commercial for the game where it shows the towns people screaming in fear, but here comes the Dovahkiin to save them, if he decides to walk away...the fate of that town is sealed.

Thats What I wish they could have done. made your actions matter more. I know that is kinda hard for them to do, perhaps next time, as it stands, those holds will be there in the state they are in form beginning to endgame no matter what you do. Whiteruns walls will never Crumble completely. Winterhold will never completely vanish from the mages colleges dangerous experiments. Riften will Always be corrupt, Markarth, morthal, and Dawnstar will still not be important at all. Solitude Will still be the capitol, and Windhelm will still be full of racism and grief.

I can dream dammit. But I still think this game is really damn good as it is right out of the box.

I like to make people recognise this by going to my house in Markarth, right at the top there, shouting something with a very quick recharge, then a guard runs up to me, asks me to cut that out. Then I full force Fus-Do-Rah on him, and he finds out what's so special about it. :celebration:

Then I go find his body, and drag it into the pit of water at the bottom of Markarth, near the smelter.

Shouting isn't a power unique to the Dragonborn. Any one can learn to use the Thu'um if they want. Your own special ability is that you can absorb the soul, along with the knowledge and power, of dragons you kill.

Well I haven't seen anyone else enthusiastically shouting people/creatures off of tall embankments anywhere, have I? Let's face it, if everyone could do it, they would. It's FUN!

Pretty special.... :D

Sadly, it doesn't work all the time, or that big pool near the smelter would be a lot more full of bloated corpses. :D

Great fun when it does work though.

First, no, it's not unique, there are a couple of people you'll meet who are much better at shouting than you are. Heck, you meet one in the bloody intro.

Second, it's easily easily overcome by a gag, slashing your throat or, anything that makes you stop shouting. It IS a form of magic, a unique form, but not godly power that everybody should fear and worship anymore than a mage with a fireball.

OH, and they do react to shouts, mostly saying to stop doing it or you're off to jail for disturbing the peace.

I agree and this does sound promising, but I can't think of how to implement this without making the Dragonborn experience very... "Boring".

"I was going to ask you to do something, but you is the Dragonborn! You order me!"
"Hey, why we don't make you the Arch-Mage? You is the Dragonborn after all!"
"I was going to test your capabilities so that you can enter our Guild, then I noted that you is the Dragonborn!"
"Please Dragonborn! Be our Thane!"
"Could you pick up some Nirnroots for me? Oh, what I'm saying, you is the Dragonborn! Let me do it!"
"I was going to arrest you, but you is the Dragonborn so forget about that!"
"I was going to take a arrow in the knee, then I saw that you is the Dragonborn!"

Okay how about the guards at Whiterun simply dropping the "Sweetroll" and "Mead fetching" smack once your char is known to be "Dragon Born". Hell forget Dragon Born, how about some of the respect due the fricken Thane of Whiterun. :mohawk:

He actually did not. He shouted him to his knees but the kill shot was actually a sword to the heart.

So even though the NPCs may talk about it, they are in fact mistaken.

After a certain part in the storyline, a lot of people and guards refer to me as the dragonborn and are in general awe when I speak to them.

But yes, a lot of other npcs, like the companions remain brutally ignorant.

But then, the companions continue to treat you and talk to you like you're a new member even after you
Spoiler
become their harbinger

And then there's that one companion chick who'll go "You have my blade, forever," in this very endearing way, then when you talk to her she's just like. "What could *YOU* Possible teach ME?!"

Yet Elisif says that after Ulfric shouted, Thorik just.... ceased to exist.

Its unique how strong Dragonborn is at it. how easy it is for the dragonborn to use.
