woot lvl 30 too start ...i mean lvl 15 grr

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:44 pm

if you seen the reviews on the webisite (the official website) i think they mensioned it on the 2nd one. and why would you not want higher levels? thats what your making it sound like. and if they raised the level cap on fallout 3 to 30 they are probably going to have it higher on NV. why would they have lower levels and perks? that would be bougus. and if they were going to make it better why would they lower the levels and perk numbers? that is the number one thingthat they would change. if that convince you i dont know what will. :slap:

I don't want higher levels because at a certain point it breaks the game. Level 30 for Fallout 3 was a mistake. You become a demi-god and any challenge the game presented was gone. It looks like Obsidian has fit the game to work well with 30, but if they raise it to 35-40 then the game may just break again.

Or they were just ridiculous.

i dont think ill care too much. most of the perks in FO3 were dumb anyway. i just hope the cannibal perk, explorer, and grim reapers sprint make a return.

is there a list of perks/confirmed perks anywhere?

Wow. And here I am hoping that the "Skilled" trait returns so I can have even fewer perks.

Man I was so happy that lvl 30 was going too be the lvl cap too start off NV .. but now i read we only get perks every 2 lvls ...that is dumb .. that makes lvl 30 pointless .. and we will only have 15 non quest perks .. I was really mad that F3 we only got too lvl 20 .. and only had 20 perks .. .. Now in NV ... we will have too lvl more too get less perks ..???

Is it me or is this ...... GRR.

I want more lvls too start .. so I could get more perks .. and was hopen their would be like 50 perks and only could get 30.

The reason they did it this way was to make it replayable. You are not a superhero in this game, so focus your perks on your TOP priority. So dont try to be a Stealth/Heavy wepon class (wich makes no sense).
Then not only would you be able to select diffrent perks and change your style of play completly every way you go about the game can be changed simply by a few perks.

Personally I hope first and foremostly for the Animal Friend perk. The Karma Sutra one is probably too much to hope for :P

For New Vegas? Sure, though only a few so far:

Well it depends... If they add in whole new sections of places that if your not a high lvl you will die, then it will be good. Problem is with fallout 3 the only content that added in harder enemys was Broken Steel. If they increase the lvl cap 5 lvl with each dlc then they can add in harder enemys in each location.

 You know its weird. Whenever I think back on the perks for FO3 the animal friend perk is probably the only one that I never took. It always makes me laugh to see other people hoping for it to be in New Vegas (which it should since I've seen plenty of people on here want it) and here I am sitting in my chair simply trying to fathom this outlook.

I disagree. It was like this in the originals, and it was more challenging. It made perks more important, and you had to choose wisely. It is great that it's back to 1 every 2 levels.

Well, I can only speak for myself... If it means that I'm going to be attacked less in the wasteland AND having the occassional critter act as an ally, then I have no complaints about it. True, it may become sort of unnecressarilly late in the game, yet I can't quite think of it as a waste if it reduces the number of attacks as well as keeping some of the more dangerous critters such as Yao Guais off my back...

Edit: Int he context of FONV, it may be useful if you choose to go against Caesars Legions - they use dogs, so if they try to swarm you with those, just watch as they turn on their masters.. hehehe

The problem wasn't the enemies. The problem was the ability to have 9 to all SPECIAL stats (Almost perfect) and have most of your skills maxed out.

Unless there's more than four or five perks useful to a free-aim player I won't mind at all.

I know they have removed alot of the perks .. like +xp or +lvls ..

But I know ..like the rest of us. That F3 was too easy (thx god for hardmode). But I dont want us all too end up with the same perks and we all played the same way. And too me it would seem .. if you only get 15 .. everyone will end up picking the 15x best. I was really hoping ..that we would have A lvl cap of 30 .. with a end of 30 perks (non-quest) .. but their would be like 50 - 60 perks. Just seems too me with only 15x .. ppl will be grabing all the + VATS , +DMG , +HPs .. ect .. so in the end everyones chars will end up the same.. Now I hope I am wrong ..

everybody has a different opinion on what's the best perk.

I liked getting perks every level. To me it makes leveling up more special, and i know everyone is gonna jump down my throat about how you can become a god in Fallout 3 and how nothing about leveling in fallout 3 was special, but i still feel that getting a perk every level would add to the feeling of accomplishment to actually gaining a level.

even if they just added a lot of odd perks like bloody mess. I never took bloody mess for the damage perk only for the gory dismemberment. If i could only choose aesthetic perks like bloody mess every other level i would be fine with that because it would still feel like the level has made an impact on my character and maybe the game world.

Having perks every level in my opinion just makes leveling that more fun and engaging because i know that the little tedious things i do will accumulate into something unique when i level. Choosing a new perk just adds to that sense of accomplishment that gaining a new level should have in a game with so few character levels (relative to other RPG's where there are at least 99+).

With perks the way they are, every other level is going to feel like a chore to me because all I'm getting is the usual skill point allocations and maybe an hp increase. every other level ill be grinding like a mad man to get to those levels that do have perks in them. Allocating skill points doesn't feel like an accomplishment to me because it is something that happens through experience anyway.

Perks feel almost detached from the regular leveling system because they can be more like the culmination of your skills rather than just an addition to them.

My real point is why do you have to decrease the amount of perks we get to balance the game. Why not balance the game around having that many perks? They said they got rid of skill perks so using perks to max skills and SPECIAL is not an option so why decrease the amount of perks we get as well?

Getting a perk every level doesn't make you a god if you balance the game around having a perk every level.

But but but, I want at least one of my characters to be god of the wasteland, I get a great deal of pleasure out of torturing and murdering the little people

I just hope they got good perks for a stealth character.

Skill books are still in, and those add permanent additions to skills. Skill magazines add a temporary boost. Magazines are probably much cheaper and more common.

In Fallout 1, the level cap was 21 and you could only choose a perk every third level. That means you could only have 7 non-quest perks, so I don't think there's any reason to complain over NV:s perks. (I'm not complaining about FO1 either.)

I just registered on this forum and I'm already wishing I didn't as I am learning things about the game before I even get to play it and I don't like that. A huge part of my game enjoyment is discovery. Time to just log out and cross my fingers that NV is all that and a bag of Potato Chips thou personally I prefer Sugar Bombs eaten from a Citadel toilet.

I hope they also bring out some fun perks for extra that are mildly useful. For example Overkill -> You deal 200% more damage with Fatman. Not very useful, but makes sure that everything dies when you launch it :celebration:

Relax. The devs said that even though you only get a perk every other level now, the perks have been changed and are more powerful than they were in FO3.

Also, this is the way it was done in FO1 and 2. And the perks were more powerful in those games, too.
