Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:20 pm

where too start.

Man I was so happy that lvl 30 was going too be the lvl cap too start off NV .. but now i read we only get perks every 2 lvls ...that is dumb .. that makes lvl 30 pointless .. and we will only have 15 non quest perks .. I was really mad that F3 we only got too lvl 20 .. and only had 20 perks .. .. Now in NV ... we will have too lvl more too get less perks ..???

Is it me or is this ...... GRR.

I want more lvls too start .. so I could get more perks .. and was hopen their would be like 50 perks and only could get 30.

Go play God Of War if you wan't to be able to have every ability and be able to decimate everyone.
Or just mod F3.

no they said on the reviews that they have more perks per level, therefore there will be more perks. and i think they said somethin about raiseing the leevel cap to level 35 or 40.

It makes it so each character is more unique. Makes it harder to be a Jack-of-all-trades. You can make one character and have him have one set of perks. Then you make another character with another set of perks and he's noticeably different from the first. Makes for more re-playability.

@Bruising: I don't remember them saying anything of the sort and I've been pretty tight on NV news. If you can give me proof I'll appreciate it.

The goal is to try and not make the player too much of an unstopable juggernaut early on, I guess. Still, if you persist, then no doubt you'll get there eventually :) .

Part of the point is also to try and make the player think carefully about the perks he/she chooses, making you ask yourself which traits YOUR particular character benefits from picking up...

I certainly don't mind it, althrouigh I hope there's a few perks we'll be able to pick up as well (like Ghoul Ecology in Point FO3).

Ok this is how it works..

You get 15 perks and 2 traits.. thats 17 thingies. Only 2 less then in base fallout 3.

BUT THATS NOT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Each perk is more oomphy in fo nv and there are alot more perks to choose from... and all the realy bad perks are GONE...er well most anyway...

Now what would you pay for this.. WAIT DONT ANSWER YET!!!!!!!!!!! BECAUSE!!!!!!!!!!!

There is MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!

We also have follower perks that can be upgraded even...

And there is MORE!!!!!!

We have quest perks and so on and so forth and blah blah blah...

So its all ok.

There are less perks but they are better. The weight of each choice is greater.

I know they have removed alot of the perks .. like +xp or +lvls ..

But I know ..like the rest of us. That F3 was too easy (thx god for hardmode). But I dont want us all too end up with the same perks and we all played the same way. And too me it would seem .. if you only get 15 .. everyone will end up picking the 15x best. I was really hoping ..that we would have A lvl cap of 30 .. with a end of 30 perks (non-quest) .. but their would be like 50 - 60 perks. Just seems too me with only 15x .. ppl will be grabing all the + VATS , +DMG , +HPs .. ect .. so in the end everyones chars will end up the same.. Now I hope I am wrong ..

No.
You can choose less perks. But there are more perks than FO3 had and they are much more meaningful.

And still, a perk every other level is still double what you had in Fallout 1 and 2. In those games you only got a perk every 3rd level and that was fine. No one complained. But then Bethesda had to go and spoil all the children with a perk at every level...

if you seen the reviews on the webisite (the official website) i think they mensioned it on the 2nd one. and why would you not want higher levels? thats what your making it sound like. and if they raised the level cap on fallout 3 to 30 they are probably going to have it higher on NV. why would they have lower levels and perks? that would be bougus. and if they were going to make it better why would they lower the levels and perk numbers? that is the number one thingthat they would change. if that convince you i dont know what will. :slap:

Actually, it means the exact opposite of that.

If there are 50 perks, for example, there are a lot more combinations available if you can only choose 20 than there are if you can choose 45.

Might want to check up on your logic next time.

I'd much rather choose 15 meaningful perks that will actually give my character some unique effects, In FO3 you always ended up with the exact same exact character build by lvl 30 and more then half of said perks were generally the standard "+5 to Repair" or "+10 to Small Guns" nothing unique or generally useful (not much creativity) went into their design.

With Fallout New Vegas we'll find that our perks will be much more meaningful not only because we have less of them but because they will carry much more weight this time around. :tops:

What? No, you are completely wrong. The level cap is 30, that's it. And you can't choose more perks per level. Only 1 every 2 levels.

I like that you can only choose every 2 levels. It increases replayability, I will have to play multiple times to get all the perks.

I understand that. All + 10% Xp / +lvl & + Skill perks were pointless .. cause you are going too cap them in the end anyhow .. so taking any of these type are 100% pointless. Now I did assume that lvl 30 ment we were getting 30 perks. I also was thinking that would inclued more perk too pick from .. thier were 58 for 20 lvls. Now I rember this bing A big deal when F3 first came out .. that lvl 20 was the cap ppl wanted more lvls and perks... too me it seem given us lvl 30 too start is awsome .. but only 15 perks .. ppl are going be unhappy again. .. It just seem like we are not gettn lvl 30 .. but lvl 15.

I do want yall too understand .. I Dont want all the perks .. I do want too play difrent then others .. ( was thinking thier were fewer perks in f3 then their are ) .. if f3 was 20/58 ..then 30/75 for NV

No, you're getting to level 30, just like the cap says, but with a extra bonus every two levels in addition to the HP and skill points you get regardless. It's not that hard to understand. Hell, you only got a perk every 3 or 4 levels in the first two games, but no one complained about that (well, I'm sure they did, but time has drowned them out).

i dont want 30 perks honestly.

i dont want to be super powerful. i want to specialize. i think most people here like the new way perks are handled

I have to say one of the things that really put me off re-playing Fallout 3 was the lack of replayability. I have since downloaded the Fallout Wanderers mod and it has made it more playable. I find if I have done everything once in a game there really isn't much of a need to go back and do it again, which is a shame when your spending 30-40 quid on a game your only gonna play once. So I'm glad they have done it this way, we had our god mode in Fallout 3 now its time for a bit of thought.
