would you be satisfied if skyrim had no dlc?

I loathed Oblivion DLCs except for shivering isles
I loathed FO3 DLCs with a fiery passion of a thousand suns.
Thankfully I was stupid enough to try FONV DLCs and loved them
They said they will go in the direction Obsidian took, but not like they haven’t lied before. So I don’t know if I should care or not…if they told the truth then I REALLY NEED THAT DLC, if they lied and will go back to FO3 and Oblivion direction…they can shove that horse armor up their…ahem…

I think people need to lower expectations, because this game is already amazing.

that may be the case, but have you finished some of the story arcs? It's purposely built for being expanded upon. I don't understand anyone who would be satisifed with the story, as is.. unless they never cared for that aspect in the first place (which is fair). Otherwise, I compare this to an ending of a season of "LOST" or something, where you're left with more questions than answers.

Yes I would be. I really cant understand all the negative comments about this game. For what it cost, it is an outstanding game. People say they are disappointed, but how many hours do they boast they have clocked up? And they still come onto this website. If there was no DLC, it wouldnt change my opinion. How many other games out there actually have DLC, decent DLC? There are very few when you compare them to the size of the gaming market.
I dont think there is any pleasing people. If the DLC Bethesda released was free and consisted of a masive downlaod with huge content, people would still be negative.

Your main problem here is even percieving it as negative comments.

When someone says "I want more" when pertaining to something, does it mean it's bad? If they thought it was bad, they wouldn't want anything at all.

Or for another example, when a book is released, and you find it's missing conclusions, is it bad when fans say "I can't wait till the next one comes out"? Would you get all defensive and go "You all just can't appreciate anything."

Percieving it as negative is off-base. Just because someone isn't satisifed yet doesn't mean they're dissatisfied with how the game turned out in general. I've been playing since day 1 of release. That speaks for itself, I think.

nah. just because they left a little too many features out from previous games that lots of people are crying about and you know they will put back. spellcrafting. ill bet my right nut they will add that back in
You should not bet that lightly. I am pretty sure you will lose that bet too...unfortunately.

If expansions are planned like the quality of Shivering Isles? Hell yes I will be disappointed.

As long as the bugs are patched, and I get a big expansion to buy, I don't care whether I get dlcs or not. Expansion or expansions will happen, because it's a relatively cheap way to make money for the studios, as most of the work is already done in the production of the initial title.

I keep associating DLC with Expansion. There seems to be no difference these days. Expansion seems to be an old term, while DLC is a catch all term now....? Or maybe I'm wrong. If you guys just mean DLC in the form of "extra housing" or horse armor, then yeah, I can do without that for sure. Everything I've said here is pertaining to bigger expansion like content.

I would be dissapointed if they did not add them since they can make the experience better. Overall I like Skyrim better than MW and OB though, even without DLC.

Well, DLC is a general term for all downloadable content. Expansion comes from DLCs who expanded on the game, like the Frozen Throne continued Warcraft 3. Now people generally use Expansion for larger DLCs which add things like the Shivering Isles.

DLC is the cheap version of an expansion these days.

Cheap because it`s actually LESS than you`d get in a proper expansion like used to be done and you are actually paying more for what you get, even though the company usually saves on discs and boxes. But I`ve watched people get slowly convinced by game companies that DLCs are better than expansions. just like they`ve been forced and convinced that Steam is better for them when really it`s better for the company, not the user.

DLCs are better for the company. They are not better than Expansions for the buyer.

But i`ve given up this fight now; too many people are brainwashed or too young to even understand what I`m talking about.

However if a company decides to be democratic and ask if we want DLCs instead of expansions and Steam- Forced for everything I will always vote `NO`.

But of course, in our Democracy we are never given the choice.

lol.. uh.. I assure you I'm not brainwashed. Also, I'm old (unfortunately). Not a kid. I simply thought the term was interchangeable nowadays. I haven't seen many packaged expansions these days. A lot of stuff comes in the form of DLC, regardless of length.

Well, obviously, I don`t mean everyone`s a kid and I`m not going to dot every `i` and cross every `t` (use your common sense), but Bethesda aren`t too bad with DLCs as their FallOut 3 Dlcs were quite good. But their Oblivion `Horse armour`DLCs was terrible. Their Shivering isles DLC was ok though and approached expansion level.

Point is DLCs are usually very low quality compared to expansions. hopefully, Skyrim`s DLCs will be at least as good as FO3`s were.

Still nothing on proper expansions like Morrowind`s which really keeps you up forever.

DLC was term used purely for liitle contents such as minor game improvements and patches. Now days, with Microsoft getting involved in the video gaming world with xBox and Halo, they seem to have revolutionised this term in to anything that adds more content. As for an actual expansion, that is more or less a completly different game is to be called a dlc, we will just have to wait and see.

Well, I'm the only one talking about the confusion between DLC and Expansions. How am I not supposed to think you're referring to me? Now you want to insult me again and tell me to use common sense. Wtf.. I never intended any of this to be that serious, so please chill out.

Yes. Anything that I add to the game just makes it better, but I was very happy with the game before I added what I have added.

Great. I knew someone would take offence. So damn hard to say something on the net where if we were face to face you`d realise I was quite chilled.

But, no, on the net I have to be so ruddy careful.
