would you be satisfied if skyrim had no dlc?

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 1:30 am

If this was it for TES, for another 5yrs. I can pretty much guarantee I wouldn't buy the next.
Skyrim is so lacklustre in terms of story and meaningful content I might as well play GTA, as that's essentially what its boiled down to. GTA with swords.

GTA usually has quite good stories though.

oh c'mon guys!
who cares what a DLC or expansion is??
usually DLCs are small things...expansions are bigger things---
if you can buy and download an expansion from the web, it's become DLC!

DLC = Downloadable Content!

If not having a DLC ment having a fully working game, then I could get over the fact but I would be gutted that there would be no DLC.

no. but i personally don't have high hopes for the DLC either considering the direction they went with skyrim. its not like they are gonna magically add depth. they'll probably just add some fire arrows, a werewolf perk tree, and a new questline and say here ya go.

I am hoping for some decent size quest DLC (The size of Shivering Isles or Morrowind's expansions), because it's going to be years before we get new content from Bethesda otherwise (Fallout 4).

No.

While vanilla Skyrim has plenty of content, there is only so much to explore, see and do. An expansion with new areas and cultures would help freshen things up a bit and keep people playing, especially those without access to mods, which is apprarently, the majority of the user base.

Great. I knew someone would take offence. So damn hard to say something on the net where if we were face to face you`d realise I was quite chilled.

But, no, on the net I have to be so ruddy careful.

lol cool enough. I know what you mean about things coming across differently.

lets move on then ;)

On PC, with mods availible no disappointment. I only got Shivering Isles for Oblivion becuase so many mods required it. It had some nice stuff but overall no big thrill. I visit Cyrodil often but the Isles almost never.

Not having DLC is not really a problem for me because the modders are already hard at work creating new places and quests to go with them. They seem to put a little more effort into it as well because they too get bored of the usual "Go here and get me this" sort of tasks.

It's funny to think about. I had two thoughts... The game is so awesome that I'd be ok if something happened and they didn't do DLC. The other thought is, the game is so awesome that I want more and more and more. :tes:

I would be disadppointed if there was no major DLC. Skyrim is such a great escape that it would be sad to see it go to the shelf.

Funny to come across this this thread, I had expressed as much ~12hrs prior to OP making this topic.

... If Spellmaking can't be put in for DLC, I'd rather that there was no DLC and that they just jump to work on TES:VI now....

I have very little desire to return to Skyrim with the current gameplay mechanics. I think I once read in these forums that every Elder Scrolls game has one huge flaw. Morrowind had Cliff Racers, Oblivion was weak on lore, and Skyrim has a magic system that's... just... ummm.... it's best expressed with memes.

I'm already looking past Skyrim to TES:VI and hoping Bethesda backtracks on the magic system, though there's no way in hell I'd preorder it.

As a game I wouldn't care if it had DLC or not as I play on PC and if I really wanted I could grab some mods to freshen up the experience. As a franchise I would care as it's idiotic to not release DLC when looking at the market as a whole.

I want DLC of course, but that doesn't mean I'm unhappy with the game. Far from it.

I would not be satisfied with no DLC. Skyrim is great as it is but is also seriously lacking. Considering the history of expansion/dlcs bethesda already has (Bloodmoon, Tribunal, Shivering Isles) its hard for me to believe they wouldn't follow up with new content of similar calibre.

I've done everything worth doing not to mention I need my game patched so I can play the Companions Guild, got glitched on the first job I accepted from them. I need DLC because my game is lacking content do to their mistake of allowing Dragons to kill civilians who might be made to be randomly chosen to get in a brawl with you for a quest from Farkas ("Hired Muscle" Radiant Quest).

This happened to me during one of the Thieves Guild quests. I failed because a dragon got hold of the house owner.

I loathe any DLC for any game. Give me a physical copy or give me death. I'm so sick of all this dlc digital content crap, which is why I despise companies like Steam and Origin.

I'm not sure I'll be getting DLC unless it's as massive as they claim. I can't see myself playing through the same quests all over again just to get to the DLC. I build one character for "good guy" play through and one for "bad guy" and then I'm done. I've already put over 200 hours in and I'm exploring everything, so if I did the DLC it would only be to do exactly that, not anything else. Unless it comes out before I'm done with my play through of course, or you can go do the DLC with your existing characters who already completed the MQ.

yh. I think the answer is an obvious yes. Its not like the game Rage or Fable 3 that left you with the feeling that the game is finished once you complete the main quest. TES games has loadsa regenerating environment to flex your character on. Even after every side quest is finish and every cave, fort, camp is wiped out (which will take some serious time) you can still walk around and be attacked or you can go and have a change of dress sense or just have a walk around admiring the scenery. That or generate & role play a completely different type of character. Not many other games give this. Most are over in no time.

DLC is just a major bonus.

If Bethesda is planning to do anything like what they did with Oblivion DLC, then I don't want any DLC.

Give us Dwemer or give us something that changes the mechanics of the game or adds new mechanics.

this is probably a bad idea, but go ahead, shout your oppinions.
Yes. But 2 years from now I'll play it frequently with the DLC's.
