WTF amazon!

Game.co.uk is probably the best place to pre-order from. I've had a lot of good service from them in the past with pre-ordering games.

Supporting Game UK is supporting console game pushing bullies. They always underestimate PC game demand, and lead the UK retailer crowd in bullying multiplatform publishers. The latest instance (that I know about) being their threat not to sell any version of Warhammer 40k: Space Marine if THQ allowed it to be sold on Steam UK too. All because thanks to Steam PC game demand rocketed, and Game being one of the "ignore PC gamers crowd" want a piece of the pie that they spat on.

I've found they're usually late; and at least Amazon are truthful about when stuff gets despatched, unlike Game who lied about my copy of Skyrim being sent out on the 5th (which is unlikely anyway: far too early, and Parcelforce don't work weekends AFAIK) but according to Parcelforce, it's still waiting to be collected. I think they're cutting it a bit fine to get it here by Friday, so it'll probably be next week. <_<

Edit: oh yeah, Game are also quite bad at not including the pre-order goodies, too. I'm wondering why I even ordered from them at all.

I've pre-ordered maybe 4 games from Amazon.com and they've always arrived on time.

Same with the exception of Dark Souls, but that was a Japanese game that was VASTLY underestimated by the publisher as to the demand overseas and had all sorts of problems on launch day.

Skyrim is no such thing. Bethesda isn't going to understock websites like Amazon or straight up not give any copies to Newegg.

In other news I'm going to be testing my luck. After waffling back and forth (because I'm an indecisive bastard) all week I've made a pre-order for the Skyrim CE today, one day before they have to ship them out. Time to see how they handle that. :hubbahubba:

IMHO, I never really trusted to order things online and then get promised on when it gets shipped (With the exception of some things like PC upgrades). It is just me though, so others have a good experience with it, I just have bad luck when it comes to waiting for anything in the mail by UPS, Fed Ex, USPS, etc.

Like some posters mentioned, it may now mean that it ships on 11-11-11.

Again, that is just my opinion. As for input, I think you did a good idea to cancel pre order with Amazon. I did my pre order the old fashion way: Store pickup. So try what game store is nearest to you, but if you are nowhere near one, I don't know what you should do from there. Just use mail/packaging as a last resort.

Sigh: still not collected. Looks like the chances of getting it this week are looking extremely unlikely. I ordered from Game because I was stupid enough to pay for the CE and Amazon UK doesn't sell it, but considering both the cost and Game's legendary customer service, I'm rather regretting that decision now.

If you really regret it and no longer want to pay the high price for it you can just cancle it. If it hasn't yet been shipped your account should not have been debited so you should be able to cancel your order. Then you can feel free to go to your local store and buy it from there and have it for tonight

I pre ordered way back in August, paid something like £2 for first class delivery. I got an email 10AM yesterday saying the game had been dispatched, and my delivery estimate still says 11 Nov 2011.

Never had any trouble with Amazon, and doesn't look like I will with Skyrim either.

Unfortunately I'm rather agoraphobic so I'm at the mercy of the online peddlers. Game seem to have this new ruse going where they claim they've shipped days in advance in order to charge people early but without anything actually having left their warehouse; though since I used a Post Office card and they take the line "oh, we'll update your statement when we feel like it: give us a few days, maybe a week..." I can't tell whether or not they've done so in my case... Kind of annoying to be left in this state of uncertainty after ordering months in advance, though. I wish Amazon UK were on the ball when it comes to stocking CEs since I'd much rather order through them, but it seems they miss most of them.

See I ordered from GAME. I got my copy today. Ofcourse I can't play it because life hates me and wants me to be taunted be the unplayable game.

I went through all the effort of avoiding Skyrim news to avoid getting too much hype. Now GAME has ruined me :vaultboy:

That's my point: so did I. They claim it was sent on Saturday, but there's no sign of it here and Parcelforce still claim they haven't collected it from Game yet. I wish I'd ordered from Amazon who I've found to reliably deliver on or before the date they say way over 90% of the time. But Amazon don't tend to sell CEs.

Don't tend to? What?

They've had the CE for as long as anybody else.

Amazon UK, then: "not all the world is the US", etc. I'd estimate that they haven't sold around 2/3rds of the CEs I've wanted to get hold of.

In my experience with Amazon, they are one of the most reliable and professional companies around. They tend to deliver ahead of time or on time. I have release day delivery for Skyrim, and I'm confident they will meet that. Release day delivery means that it will be delivered on release day. Not that it will be shipped on release day. I have ordered at least one game before with release day delivery and it was delivered on release day. I strongly disagreed with statements like "Amazon is a fail".

I live in the US so I can't speak for Amazon UK from personal experience, but I suspect it will also be as reliable as Amazon in the US.

I just ordered the standard edition from Amazon since Game have let me down; in spite of it just being a couple of hours, they've given me an estimate of the 11th with a status of "despatching soon". I've always found Amazon to be very reliable and can't remember offhand when they last let me down (and I order a lot of stuff from them.)

Yeah or here, but I'm just a bit worried it won't come. It was dispatched 10AM on the 9th, and on first class delivery should definitely come tomorrow, but I'll be really gutted if it doesn't come.

Amazon rocks... They never fail you. If by some crazy off chance they do fail a little, they will give you 20 bucks or so of amazon credit, which is pretty much a free older game, or you can put it toward a new release or something. It's also very easy to get free amazon prime if you are a college student, which means free release-day shipping.

If you picked release day shipping, just relax, you will get it. Even if the page has not updated yet. I remember one time it took awhile to say shipped, but when it did, I could already tell the package moved quite a bit from the tracker.

NO WAY!!! When did that happen??

My Amazon order here still says "shipping soon". I've had several pre-orders from them and they always deliver on release day. I may not get it until late that afternoon, but I do get it.
