YEAHHH! OGHMA INFINIUM

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 4:29 pm

looks like we still have the exploit team, and most everyone thought the infinite bookshelf fix was talking about the oghma infinium ROFL...i hope this teaches the control freaks that bethesda isn't about taking the fun out of their games and this wasn't ever something that needed to be "fixed", it didn't break the game or mess any quests up etc...and those are the only things that ever need to be fixed, so i'm laughing all the way since i know this is something the control freaks can't stand....well considering everyone with the game could easily just clear the cache and everyone on pc could also level up easily, this wasn't something that even makes sense to do anything about, even if they did "fix it...it would only prevent a minority of people from utilizing it. so thats pretty much that...over and out.

Personally I don't use it, but if people want to use it they should be allowed to. After all, it is their game.

why, exactly, should it be fixed?

don't get me wrong, i care little if they fix it or not, and why should i. it's a single-player game, and anyone with the option to use the console can max out their stats if they want to.

This is nonsense. It's not hurting anything being in there as this is a single player game. It's a fun glitch that isn't hurting anyone in a game filled to the brim with bugs negatively affecting all of us.

Cool i didnt expect that too happen , well i guess a little thank you dev couldnt hurt right now would it  anyway im playing this game from september and yes i used this but if you go look on my xbox live profile you will see i didnt utilize it too get quick acces too achievements infact those i dont care about its nice yes but they are not my main objective for this game.

edit: my current cha is a kajith female that ive currently leveled too 52 with patch 1.4 installed and started this new cha without utilizing the infinium , the infinium could give you that extra oomph if you desire afcourse

This thread is the result of casual gamers wanting to rush through a magnificent game ......But i guess we all are not hardcoe RPG fans ......why in this world would i want to use an exploit like this and take the fun out of such a master piece like skyrim ...when you exploit the game like this u just take all the challenging part away...it just makes no sense to me with all due respect for the users that find this fun and entertaining ......dont really understand whatsthe fun part leveling up to 100 in less than 10 minutes without doing anything ....i dont know maybe my fun sense is messed up...so anyways at the end of the day we all paid for the game (some of us) and we are free to do whatever the heck the game allows us to do........AND YES IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED!!!!

I always got that book so late that it became pretty useless because I had already maxed out all the skills I needed. Ended up in my library or on a Body in a random dungeon.

Do I count towards a bad person? I collect Daedric artifacts. As soon as I had read the Oghma Infinium, I dropped it so that it wouldn't disappear. Never had intentions reading it again, just keeping it there. I don't even know if I would get another stat boost if I read it again, since I haven't tried! I could roleplay, for example, that it was so exhausting getting through one Path (of Magic for me) that my character could never through another one. Or just isn't interested in other Paths (which is true). Or maybe everything just disappeared from the book after reading a chosen Path from it, but the book itself still remained there. Bottom line, I just want to keep it as a part of my collection.

I actually just got the item yesterday. As soon as I read it a got the benefit, closed out of the inventory, the book dissapeared. So I don't get which exploit is being reffered to here, unless this is PC sepcific. I play on Xbox360.

Does the new patch fix the ohgma glitch on xbox?

You can youtube it or google it or use the forums search function. It's been discussed a lot of times.

As for fix it or not fix it. I really could care less. I have 4 characters and I usually use the Oghma once and that's it. However, as someone stated it's a single player game and everybody is free to play how they like it. I don't think the Devs should hold your hands and tell you how to play it. There are major bugs they should concentrate on, not silly exploits. LOL

Exploits are different in MMOs, since only a few people usually profit from it, and those are mainly PVPers and of course the other half is mad, because they just bit the dust hahahaha PVPers... don't get me started... hahaha

Sweet mother of FUUUUUUU-
So what it's a SP game!?!?!?!?

That's the exact reason why it SHOULD be fixed ASAP!
SP games are actually ones which should be more polished than MP ones because ALL the challenge gets lost if there is an exploit like that.
In a MP game, at least other player can use that exploit against you so it gets evened out, but in a SP game, that doesn't happen.
Do you twits think Tetris would be a good game if you could decide which block would come out next?
NO, IT WOULDN'T!!!
Casual gamers like you are people which are screwing up game industry and turning it from art to just an another way to make money.

It's not YOUR game, it's game which belongs to ALL of us, meaning that EVERYONE is [censored] even though it's a SP game!
And what is purpose of playing a game which I must go easy on?
'Oh, don't worry game, I won't hurt you... here, let me cripple myself some more so you won't cry.'

And having console and exploit is not the same thing.
Using console is same as using cheats and are not part of actual game.

All exploits should be removed if one wishes to have a good game - fact - period!

People like you need to relax and face facts...fact is just because the exploit is there doesn't mean you HAVE TO USE IT. That would be like blaming gun smiths for people getting shot..guns don't shoot themselves.
The reason why glitches like this aren't a problem in a single player game is that no one can mess with your game except you...no one can make you exploit the ohgma glitch so stop whining it's there and simply DON'T USE IT

Remember ONLY YOU AFFECT YOUR OWN SINGLE PLAYER GAME

I don't care either way. Its not like its a particular easy thing to exploit. Practically impossible to do accidentally. If I wanted a super cheap way to crank up my skills, I'd hit the tilde and start punching in console commands.

...I could also just use the console to grant myself a million Septims, all the perks, all the shouts, maxed out skills, etc. But I don't. If you want to cheat in your single player game then who friggin cares?

I'd only care if the cheat is easy to do by accident. Based on what I know of this cheat, I find it baffling why anyone would go through the effort on the PC (all due respect to my consolers in the house)

Personally, I don't mind the cheat being there, used it myself, more or less to see if any patches fixed it when posted on a site that says "Pre-Patch"... Still works...

They never bothered to fix the item dupe in Oblivion by using the scrolls... So far I haven't seen an item dupe in Skyrim, so perhaps they are going to leave the level cheat...

I noticed however it only works with owned bookshelfs that you can place your books on and I think the cheat works because when you place a book on the shelf, the books seem to "refresh", thus refresh the Oghma Infinium book to be used again. So it might be a fairly complex rewriting of code to change the bookshelf properties, or they can just make the Oghma Infinium a "Quest Related" item...

Beat the MQ at lvl 26 so its not like the game is THAT challenging, so having the Oghma Infinium cheat available when desired is not a big deal... Besides, all the owners of the PC version of Skyrim get to have their cheat system, Xbox 360 owners and PS3 owners are LUCKY to get any kind of cheat in most games made for those systems...

IMHO

I am on the Xbox 360 and I could not get this exploit to work for me. As much as I tried, I could not get in before one second was up, which was (what I had read) required to make it work. Have any Xbox 360 users succeded with this exploit? If so, what is the trick to make it happen?

Take the book to a house where you own a bookshelf that you can open like a treasure chest. Save your game..
  • Open the book shelf
  • Read the book while its in your inventory and select a skill set to raise
  • Place the book on the shelf and close the bookshelf
  • Open the book like any other book, and select "Do not read"
  • Take the book
  • Repeat 1 - 5

Sounds hawt. I might do this to get my Conjuration, Alteration, and Illusion to 100 since I'm not a fan of those schools/skills and already have Destruction and Restoration at 80+ (so basically who cares) at level 60.

I don't understand the logic of "I choose not to use it, therefore everyone else shouldn't."

This freaking book is an exploit and doesn't affect anything besides making your character beefy. It's a one player game, there isn't much to brag about. Oh, you're level 81? Great. I'm level 9 and I haven't done jack yet, therefore you should be as slow as I am.

There are some REAL issues out there, real broken quests and glitches that affect very much of the game. Here's a concept: concentrate on what's really broken here.
Oh noes, someone duped a Savior's Hide on a mannequin. I'm gonna lose so much sleep over it.

Well the only thing is you only get to lvl 81 and thats only 81 perks to gain... I found out that being a lvl 100 lockpicker makes no differance unless you select the perks for it. I was picking Master lvl locks before lvl 20 and before I was able to raise the perks for it, so getting those perks are rather pointless unless you don't want to break a few lockpicks on a Master lock....
