Do I care? No.

Do I find some of them fun to get? Yep.

Nope. I was first aware of them when I played Fallout 2 years ago

I don't care about gamer score, but they can be fun to try for, like any goal in a game.

Somewhat, many times it provides a goal that you would not normally try, or something you would normally never see.

I don't care about them nearly as much as I used to (Everyone's dike-waving over gamerscore sorta passed), but I still find some of them a fun challenge, and an achievement riddled campaign is a great incentive to keep playing.

No I don't. Well for nearly all games I don't care. But in MMOs I don't mind them. In LOTRO you had achievements for so many kills of a certain monster, finding all the flowers in the Old Forest etc. I think those did add to the game. But in any other genre I don't care.

This sums up my feelings. Though I do feel proud to be part of the 1.8% on Steam who have the Base Killington achievement for SPAZ.

A little

I played Dead Space with just the plasma cutter since i noticed there's a trophy for it, but for the challenge, not the trophy :hehe: Also i hunted down all the Behemots in Fallout 3 since i noticed there's a trophy for it, because it meant there's a limited number of them, which meant "gotta catch them all"

And the "Immortal" achievement in Plants vs. Zombies i went for too (Get to wave 30 in the endless survival game mode, or something, don't remember ). Again, for the challenge. Proved to be surprisingly difficult.

No. I don't see the [censored] point behind them, and I don't know why so many people have such an obsession with them.

Sort of, yes. I'll go out of my way to get them, but I'm not heartbroken if I miss one. I find that they just add an extra layer of challenge and reward on top of playing the game without them.

I think they are fun to collect. I don't really care alot about my gamerscore but I enjoy competing against my friends or just strive to get all the achievements in a game I enjoy. It gives you a little more motivation and reason to beat a game (for example sandbox games) where completing the game don't necessarily mean you've done everything. Achievements can give you the extra push to squeeze every drop out of the game. :P

Unless they leave some tangible reward, not a wit.

Depends on what you mean by obsession.

If you mean the people who buy games just because they're cheap and have easy achievements to boost their [censored] (wasn't expecting that to be censored... ego, then :P), then I agree. But if it's a fun game that I enjoy, achievements are just optional goals that potentially add more gameplay time.

When they start attaching some sort of bonus content to it, then maybe. God forbid they do, though.

Usually: no
If I have most of them, sure I will try to get the rest.
It's sometimes fun to get them, especially if they are hard to get.

To a certain degree. I'm not a trophy/achievement [censored] but on occasions I'll make it my goal to get specific ones like collecting all the blast shards in inFamous. Journey is also a game that has motivated me to go after the trophies. I won't look up guides or anything but they TGC did a good job of implementing them.

Some are fun to get just for the challenge, or to make you do something that you probably wouldn't normally do. Like carrying the gnome across Half Life 2 Episode 2, or the gnome in Left4Dead 2. Or not killing a single person in Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

I like getting them, especially harder ones, not ones like "Oh hey, you made your character! 10 Points!"

Not until I've properly exhausted all other aspects of the game and the only thing left is 'get all the achievements' ;)
