You know what grinds my gears? part II

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:39 am

I would never mess with a gang. I don't really feel like getting killed. I'm not a cop, and as much as I hate gangs, my goals in life don't involve helping get them off the streets, as much as I'd want to. Besides, sending them to jail does no good, because there are gangs in jail too. Gangs are a natural consequence of humanity svcking (and yes, Defaulted, I'm aware that we've always svcked), and nothing will stop them from existing in the end. I realize that that's a pessimistic attitude to take, but that's just the way I feel about it.

Actually, that doesn't sound pessimistic at all. Really, accepting it as a thing we'll never completely get rid of is neutral at best. This brings me to another thing that bugs me: people who believe there are such things as 'new problems.' You know the kind, who thinks in the past we didn't have those problems. The way I see it, we've always more or less had the same set of problems, simply expressed in different ways. People who wax poetic about the good old days are simply wasting what little perspective they have on glorifying a world that never existed.

EDIT: No, Antibody. You aren't one of these people. I felt I should add that, just so I'm not misunderstood.

Another thing that "grinds my gears" is my monitor acting up.

At first i wasn't sure if it was my eye-sight or the monitor itself, but i'm so miserable and impoverished that i wondered which one was worse: my eye-sight being damaged or my monitor, because i can't afford a new one.

There are quite a few things that grind my gears!

First, people who respond to a thread that is about some kind of suggestions, and then completely ignore the possibility that just maybe someone else already might have mentioned that, say, GTA IV could be worth a try if you like sandbox games, to the point of turning a blind eye to every single response in the entire thread because they think the opinions of nobody else matter, and thus they are required by law to suggest GTA IV as a worthy sandbox game. In case you missed it, you aren't the only one who realized that GTA IV is a sandbox game; it's not like everyone else thought it was a real time strategy game, and you have been enlightened by god as to the truth of the matter. Surely, you could have at some point deduced that maybe there are others who could have had the idea before you, and that it might be good to actually read the other replies in the thread so you don't end up with a thread in which everybody and his [censored] grandmother, his grandmother's dog and his grandmother's [censored] kitchen sink give the same [censored] suggestions!

Second, it bugs me when people can't even tell the difference between a phobia and a nuisance. Spiders scare the crap out of me, that doesn't mean I find them irritating. If there was a parade of tarantulas crawling up my leg, I wouldn't be going "Sodding creatures, never do an honest day's work, come into this country and take all our jobs, they do!".

Third, people who try to get on to the bus or train before anyone has had the chance to get off. Let's make one thing bloody clear; first people get off, then people can get on. One day there is going to be a massacre at a random train station in a major residential area, and all the offender will have to say will be "He should've [censored] waited for me to get off, shouldn't he?".

Members ragging on other members for using consoles or using PCs. That starts platform wars. Stop it.

  • Waking me up from a deep sleep with something unimportant
  • Assuming what I will and will not do based on a previous action.
  • Ignoring me(I REALLY HATE THAT)
  • Giving me an unnecessary hard time with my opinions
  • In the case of Xbox live chat: Judging me based on my accent.
  • Getting in my way when I'm trying to finish my work
  • Trying to change HOW I work
  • Music, not even my own, can be playing while I'm in the process of going to sleep
  • Forcing me to do things I don't wont to do

Poll responses along the lines of "Where's the option for 'none'?". That option is always present; it's called not voting in a poll that's not aimed at you.

What really annoys is the fact that old people who use mobility scooters (dont know if other countries use these or the equilvilant of one) think that because they are old and because they have been throuhg a lot, doesnt mean that they can speed down a narrow alleyway at 10mph, where there isnt enough room for me and the scooter to pass, and expect the person walking the other way to bow before them and let them run them over. Luckily im skinny and i was able to get away with only my toes being crumpled <_<.

When a mod sees a bunch of good, mild, matured rant about the Amish and just deletes it without considering if maybe I would like to read it.

There are all kinds of little things that really grind my gears -- but one that gets me is people who eat really loudly... like they breathe deeply and chew so audibly that I can hear it at the other end of the table -- damn you, Dad! <_<

I hate people who are ignorant to things they've never tried or simply can't respect someone's opinion -- they don't have to agree with it, of course not, but they can at least say ''that's your opinion and I understand."

In terms of Internet forums, I don't like it when someone replies to a thread stating ''This thread is pointless'' -- okay, okay, sometimes it may seem to have no purpse, but if someone wants to state that they're excited about something (and then possibly discuss it) then I don't see what's wrong with that.

Oh, and 'grammar Nazis' annoy me a little -- I mean, unless the poster is writing a fan fiction or whatever, I don't see why their spelling and grammar needs to be corrected when they're making a casual post about a game; for all we know, this person's first language might not be English.

Why can't you listen to music when you try to fall asleep? That's what I use to fall asleep sometimes.

People who try to impose their beliefs on me.
The cluster[censored] of stupidity that is the drop-off roundabout for my high school. http://i45.tinypic.com/i73190.jpg of an average morning.
Edit: Idiot A in the picture waves no less than 5 cars ahead of him before taking three minutes to make an attempt to get in the roundabout.
Edit2: Also, the new driving laws for Indiana that go into effect July 1st, which are basically a huge [censored] you to teenage drivers.

Out of curiousity, what is your accent?

On topic: What really grinds my gears is facebook, more directly, the people on facebook. I mean I have no problem with social networking but when people start to complain about such trivial things to gain attention, it makes me want to punch them. Things like they've recieved an assignment and they keep saying fml, seriously svck it the [censored] up. Or something bad happens and they have to annouce it to everyone so they can gain sympathy and compliments from everyone.

What kind of accent do you have, that people judge you? +
Do...do you speak some ancient Latin tongue backwards, as to summon hell-spawn? if you do, joking. please no rage

The Amish, first time in the history I *know that anything about them has been inappropriate, if not simplistic.

sitting around the internet doing absolutely nothing but not wanting to get off.

deciding to change the tense/subject of a complex sentence after writing it, and forgetting to change one word.

my complete inability to spell the word "sentence" (it needs an A)

[edit] accidentally forgetting a small word in a sentence, completely changing its meaning and/or making it incomprehensible.

Genocide "grinds your gears?"

Gee, the systematic slaughter of an ethnic minority just rubs me the wrong way.

Hm? I'm not completely familiar with the phrase "grinds your gears". I thought it just meant what do you hate.

Obnoxious morons who invade my life, spitting on my face while yammering at me, waving their limbs around and near me gusting their unique hog odor directly into my nostrils, and who won't listen to reason to the point I think the only solution would be a gun. Then I'm so worked up, I'm less concentrated and easy to upset, not watchful of the amount of spit I have in my mouth when talking to other people and less aware of my own hygiene. Then one of my victims, some self appointed knight of the people, writes about me in a video games forum.

People acting like they are some kind of Vulcan from Star Trek really grinds my gears.

Also, I'm from the south and the only time I talk like a cowboy or a redneck is when I'm up north and want to scare everybody

Though there was that one time when I pronounced "spell" in a way that it rhymed with "hail"...... but really, that was one time, I promise, and it was on accident, and I caught myself before I actually said it fully.... really.... I promise....
