You know what's ironic?

Mythology is an extremely complex thing in TES, and there are MANY ways to interpret it all, figure out how it fits together, etc, but I noticed something interesting and a bit funny. This isn't a complaint or a comment, just something I noticed that I thought I'd share. Elves believe men and mer are descended from the gods, but only the elves remained "pure" and true to their godly heritage. As a result, their religion started off as ancestor worship, their "ancestors" being the aedra themselves. Over time, they began to worship the ancestors of their leaders. Many of these ancestors became the "Eight Divines" we know today. Humans in TES worship the Divines. In short, humans worship the altmeri ancestors and, in a way, the altmer themselves.

Kneel before your masters, puny humans.

But Talos was a man. If a man can become a God, men are better than Elves. Take that!

The Dwemer may have become gods... or written themselves out of existence.

The elves only claim to be descended from the gods. Doesn't make it true.

And Lorkhan's always there to troll you anyway.

actually altmer worship in a single god and they think that god is a piece of [censored] for helping ot make the world and making the altmer mortal again so they keep praying he will come back and help unmake the world (or something like that, but they do/did worship one divine and got mad when s/he made them and wont to unmake themselves. no supirior being would want to unmake themselves, that is worse than death)

Well Talos was likely a god, possibly a shattered remnant of lorkhan (MAYBE), to begin with, who took mortal form. That's why there are several people who actually make up the being we consider "Talos". I can't remember all of them, but he's actually a whole godhead, not just Tiber Septim. And according to the monomyth and the annotated annuad, which are both accepted by humans as well as elves, men and mer are descended from the gods, after the gods became mortal and their physical forms died. So since both groups believe elves are descended from gods, and both groups worship the eight divines, who began as elven ancestor spirits....

Humans worship elven ancestors. Now bow to your masters!

Oh and if this topic is in the wrong section, I'm sorry haha. I'm just trying to have a little lighthearted fun.
Edit: Oh and they believe in much more than one god. Reading up on their religion now.

i said worship not believe, they used to worship the one divine who they thought was their ancestor and got mad at them when they were allowed to live (must be a mer thing?). but that is not the point, the point is they hate their gods, a smart race would be grateful to be alive, not mad/sad/negative feelings. clearly the hist is the greatest race, they are the oldest, wises and made argonians

p.s. the altmer are desended from the same race as everyone else, the altmer are at least 4 places down form their gods (divine>old race>aldmer>other mer>orcs) while argonians are only two spots down (divine>hist>argonian), argonians are supirior!!!

Since we're just having fun, it doesn't matter, but The altmer believe in the same creation story as humans, only they believe Lorkhan tricked them into having a mortal life, while humans see it as a "training ground" of sorts to achieve enlightenment. Also, Altmer are two steps away from the divine: Divine > Aldmer > Altmer. And the Altmer are the closest race to the aldmer so the difference is shorter than that even haha. I'm pretty sure no one knows who or what created the argonians. It's unknown if the argonians even worship the hist or just revere them along with some other religious practices we dont understand yet. Unless some new lore came out that is.

Could be worse, could be like how the Orcs came into existence. Seriously, for that race to be described as they are for their creation, and being so mistreated by all the other races, no wonder they are warlike.

Vivec  But yeah it is nice they added so many religions to the lore rather then just one pantheon like ever so many other rpgs.

Talos, Tiber Septim, Ysgramor is the same, right? He became the god of war and governance. So basically the Mer should worship him as well as the other eight Divines.

Can someone explain to me why Tiber Septim/Talos is part of the 9 in Cyrodiil but is no longer considered a divine and now its "the eight"?

I mean didn't Akatosh make him a God or something to that affect.
