What a like is that often I’ll start a character with something in mind, but after getting to know them (such as it were) they, like writing music, a story, or painting a picture, always seem to sort of evolve and create themselves.
I always end up with “someone” a little more complex then I had at first imagined.
After playing NV for a while, I “realized” that the Courier was my first character from FO3. After the events in the capital waist land, he wondered west where his reputation preceded him amongst curtain parties. He was made an honorary member of the NCR Rangers who, because of is still relative anonymity as an outsider, asked him to go undercover to infiltrate the inner workings of the strip. This of course led him to being shot in the face and subsequent amnesia…
…Now, slowly regaining his abilities, he still supports the NCR although, because of his near death experience, his sympathies now lay more closely with the FOA whom he sees as one of the only truly benevolent factions that he’s encountered in the wasteland, and he’s become something of a warrior monk.
I’ll be starting a new one soon, but so far, he hasn’t popped into my head yet. We’ll see.
