Do you think Skyrim quests are boring and svck.

I'm of the opinion that they went for a extremely shallow quantity over quality this time. while TES quests aren't the masterpiece works in comparison to other RPG titles, I think they hit a new low with skyrim. To the point that Radiant quest feel like MMO grinding quests, and guilds are fetch quest pretty much. Pretty much the only thing skyrim turns into after a little bit of playing is a pretty hiking and screen shooting simulator.

The quests have no choice or consequence are extremely linear, and are generic most of the time.
Nice post!

well no.
i tend not to think of the negative stuff in the game,i see things positive in a game,it makes me enyoy the game more
But sure the games quests could have been better, many things in all games that could have been better
I'm sorry, but ignoring bad stuff is sing of idiocy.

I roleplay the quests so i imagine them better than they probably are. But in all honesty they are a step down from oblivion and morrowind. I still remeber that quest in oblivivon when some lady in bravil asks you to find her husband turns out he was on some island and you get trapped there as well and have to fight your way out. Only to get attacked by the massive orc anyways....Now that is a well thought out quest.
Don't forget that Agatha Christie inspired DB quest where you were locked in a mansion with mission to secretly kill all the guests without being found out.

When MMORPG grind quests can often outshine Skyrims non-radiant quests you know it is a problem.

One of the posters on this forum referred to Skyrims world as a vast ocean that was only six inches deep. I really think he hit the bulls eye with that statement.
I think that it went 'A mile wide, an inch deep.'

OT:
I find quests from Kingdom of Amalur Reckoning to be much better.
Lot of quests there allow you to make choices, have more meat on them and are more colorful.

There is a very small amount of side quests I find, because Bethesda focused more on their "radiant" story quests which are basically clear this dungeon, deliver this item, slay this dragon for a leveled amount of gold. Most of the few side quests are just dungeon quests as well, where you just clear a dungeon with the quest giver.

Instead of having 2 measly Forsworn quests, they should have made it into a full blown joinable faction.

I felt the skyrim quests were mostly fine, some good and some poor. However, my biggest gripe is that the questlines are way too short. I felt as I was about half way through winterhold quest when it just whimpered out and finished. Companion questline was too forced resulting in it feeling particularly short. I was hoping for guild questlines of around 10-12 compelling quests inseatd we got 5 to 7 okish ones.

Eh, I sorta disagree here, I mean once you've been around a little aside from a few special cases once you start hitting one dragur tomb they all start to look and feel the same. Same goes for the other lairs. So I'd say most of the areas are fairly generic with few exceptions and not really "detailed". I heavily doubt any DLC will be anything close to what you stated. Just by going by past experience from gamesas writing.

The world is huge, detailed and with a brilliant level design- and sorry but i think that is objective and no one can deny this,in fact is one of the real strenghts of the game

If we talk about dungeons -well -apart from the understandable repetitiveness and linearity of some of them and the lack of challenging puzzles (i agree with you that most of the draugr tombs are probably the most boring after that you've played some amount of time) in all honesty i think that they're superior in terms of level design if compared to the older Tes games -and a special mention goes to Dwemer ruins (i.e. Blackreach -even if underdeveloped for someone -in my opinion is a real masterpiece of design, and so other large ones like Mzinchaleft and Avnchzel )

About the Dlcs: well i think that is wrong to judge something on the basis of past experience and is premature now to discuss them as well

Most of them are short and too easy. All thanks to the mystical Quest Arrow and the disappearance of The Journal.

Sadly yes, most quests in Skyrim (and TES general) are really boring, sometimes they give them nice backstory, lore eg: wolf queen quest in skyrim, morrowind great houses, morrowind MQ, but the execution of them is schemaic, full of wasted potential,

I missed some stuff from Oblivion, like the famous whodunit or Glarthir Quest.
And even if there are Quests like this in Skyrim, they dont really feel that
unique for me. But im in high hopes for the upcoming dlc :bunny:

there are less Q than I hoped for.

actually when it comes to quests I give skyrim an average score.

there were a lot of nice ones but not enough and all major and main quest lines should have had more options AND affected each other in more impact-ful ways :P like a massive interconnected chain

skyrim is a pretty epic game but I guess such a huge sandbox game would require unrealistic amount of money and work time to do everything perfectly

Perfectly not, better - yes. It's a bad excuse when You look at Oblivion or especially Morrowind. There when You joined one faction You could only progress a bit or even not at all in others.

I hear ya'!
I will give Skyrim a chance another chance today (after more than a month of not playing it), but will play without HUD and see how it goes.
Still, while that fixes the hand-holding problem, I still don't know how to deal with crappy journal.
Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning has a good journal imo and Bethesda should change Skyrim's to look more like that one.
