Do you think Skyrim quests are boring and svck.

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 2:57 pm

I liked Morrowind quests better. Why in the world did they change everything. If feels like i am repeating every quest over and over again.
What do you think? I always feel sleepy now playing Skyrim. It's getting boring.

I don't think the quests are as good as in past games, but they don't svck. There are a few memorable ones, but less than I had hoped for.

If I thought Skyrim was boring, the last thing I'd be doing would be dedicating the scarce resource of my time to reading and posting on the Skyrim message boards when I could be dedicating that time to something else, like playing a game that I didn't find boring. So to answer your question; no, I don't think Skyrim quests (well, the written ones anyway) svck.

No I don't but maybe that's because I don't do quests for the sake of it. I just do quests that are meaningful to my character's motivations.

That's why roleplaying is always better than just playing.

Very true, before I do any quest I stop and think: Would it make sense for my character to do this? It's surprising how much more fun it makes the game!

I'm of the opinion that they went for a extremely shallow quantity over quality this time. while TES quests aren't the masterpiece works in comparison to other RPG titles, I think they hit a new low with skyrim. To the point that Radiant quest feel like MMO grinding quests, and guilds are fetch quest pretty much. Pretty much the only thing skyrim turns into after a little bit of playing is a pretty hiking and screen shooting simulator.

The quests have no choice or consequence are extremely linear, and are generic most of the time.

But that wouldn't make sense -- devoting your time to something you enjoy.

I wouldn't mind more variety in my quests, though.

Yes, way too many fetch quests and "Go to point X and talk to person Y, then come all the way back and I'll send you to the other side of the map." It svcks for a no fast travel player.

They're incredibly bland compared to past games in the series. Some of the Daedric quests were unique, but other than those and a select few others, they were all very boring. It could be my imagination, but it felt like at least 85% of the quests were simple "go here, kill this" or "go there, get that" and incorporated the Radiant Story element. I would have vastly preferred 100 well written, interesting quests to the 430 forgettable ones that are in the game.

Every single person complaining about generic quests has apparently not done a single Daedric quest.

Only problem is that you have no branching quest paths, so your always stuck with (usually) one way to finish said quest dispite you thinking "Hey my character would do it THIS way".

not to mention you get crap tons of quests shoved down your throat if you just talk to people and they don't take "no" for an answer so you quest log gets chocked with entries that won't clear unless you do them.

Quests in Skyrim are alarmingly bad. Basically MMORPG quality right there....which is a joke.

You're right!

If you completely ignore everything about that quest except the chunk you're referring to, it sounds totally boring! You're a genius! You've discovered the holy grail of bad argument! All shall tremble before you!

16 decent quests do not make up for the 200+ that are simple fetch quests. Yes, the Daedric quests were fairly interesting, but even they almost universally involved killing some "poor, lowly mortal" to prove your devotion to the lord in question.

The quests were overwhleming bland and repetitive, and are definitely one of the big problems with the game.

I'd rather they did the Fallout 3 method of less side quests but more meat to them.

Each side quest in F3 felt like it had weight to it instead of petty errandness.

Honestly, I don't remember any TES game having any quests besides "go to the other side pf the map, bring me item X and do that again". MW, OB and SK did it, MW had more tedious filler quests between the good ones and OB had a better explanation for some of it, bit it's still the old TES style.

true, skyrim has too many 'go and kill X' and 'get Y from this area'. But thats how the elder scrolls have evolved. I just screw the quests and hope someone did a custom quest(mod). There are some new quest mods out there(no quest markers) that require you to use your brain(and your keyboard and mouse).
