That article didn't sound (or look) very authentic to me.
Seriously it definitely is. There are loads of pages lol.

I'm reading about how the hotkey bar is supposed to work, and oddly, the game it reminds the most about is... Diablo 3???
You choose a small subset of your class's abilities and assign them to your hotbar, then can only use those assigned abilities in combat - no swapping or using them from the menu.
"We can just make every ability really cool, and how you build your 'hand' in advance is what defines you."
So a lot like Diablo 3's system of choosing a combination of up to 6 spells, plus there are combos between your and your allies abilities.
I see what you mean. Also the GW2 weapon system seems to have made it in. but I still think thsi was a TERRIBLE design choice for combat.

Even if the game mechanics are identical, if the art style is drastically different, then its two different styles of fantasy. Fantasy =/= game mechanics

Only in art.

High fantasy and low fantasy is not determined by art.

100 years after the MMO is set.

This seriously pains me, it hurts just a little less than Warhammer Online. :nope:

Well, at least there is some mention of "finesse", giving hope that it isn't just pure button-mashing.

Perhaps it is right then. All these conflicting sources.

Yep. They retconned this just so people who are only familiar with Skyrim will recognize some stuff in TESO.

I predict there will be many other alterations just so the "new" generation of TES fans will fit into the MMO very well.

The New Emperor of Tamriel is actually a player Character who preforms the best near the end of the main story and is crowned Emperor by Fellow players.

To the people that actually read the scans, is this accurate? i saw this in another thread, and I'm about to cut my eyes out...

They're determined by themes... and themes are represented in video games by art.

Anyway, high fantasy and low fantasy are very broad catagories. You could call both Oblivion and KOA: Reckoning high fantasy, but they go for completely different styles... with Oblivion being much more traditional medieval fantasy.

TES online reminds me more of Reckoning than Oblivion... which is a shame.

Dude, dont quote the wiki for lore.
Or anything else really. Its a bit full of misunderstandings and things that are wrong.

The http://www.uesp.net/ has the best information on the games and the http://www.imperial-library.info/ is the place to go to for lore.

Fact is that we dont know a lot about the second era, nor about the time the MMO is set.
There is only one source for the founding of the first Aldmeri Dominion.
If some leeway is applied to both these dates, they match up pretty well.

As I read it, it's not based on fellow players, but a point system in which who was the most beneficial in taking the capital for there fraction.

Not trying to be rude, but that makes no difference in my opinion. Some random player should never be emperor of Tamriel, now matter how far in the past it is and if its cannon or not. It doesn't make sense, I'm supposed to believe there are 10,000 emperors running around the world?

You'll be named Emperor... for about a week, until another one rises. Chaos after the collapse of an Empire that's pretty realistic actually.

Yeah. end-game after you've done everything your Clan which is called Faction chooses it's best player to be Emperor.

I agree.

Because you did the best with this whole "Molag Bal" quest arc you're supposedly crowned emperor of ALL OF TAMRIEL?

wut?

WoW and KoA both have cartoony art styles yet KoA doesn't touch the level of cartoony that WoW does, yet they are both high fantasy.

LotR and D&D are also high fantasy and I dare say KoA's magic system better fits to how D&D works.

Final Fantasy, also high fantasy, but doesn't go anywhere near WoW's super cartoon graphics.

Art matters visually. Gameplay is what matters. Gameplay and narrative direct art, not the other way around.

I added to it, it's based on fraction, so if your fraction takes the Capitol, and if you were the most beneficial, then you may be made emperor... there will not be 10,000 emperors running around at one time. AS far as the player character and lore, since when has what your player character done mattered to lore? In oblivion if were made the hero, and also did the dark brotherhood questline... you didn't see lore saying the champion of cyrodiil was also dark brotherhood member. Lore =/= in-game character.

EDIT:
Thanks Darkside Eric for the fix.

Found the scans.

If you slipped the screenshots into shots from another fantasy MMO, I would have a hard time identifying it.

Some features sound cool. Others make me think this is going to be a failed cash cow venture.
