So about this Talos guy...

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 1:10 am

The man became a god. He must have been pretty amazing, seeing how even though our Nereverine, Champion of Cyrodill, and Dragonborn WERE amazing people, apparently it's canon that we eventually just die. Unless you like to role play otherwise. Or that you were actually not-so-amazing.

Ever wonder what Bethesda's vision of Talos and his accomplishments to becoming a divine is like? A prequel Elder Scrolls title or maybe some DLC featuring some sort of flashback quest where you encounter him sounds doable.

I'd like to meet this guy. And if he turns out sub-par compared to me, I'll be sure to role play that my character becomes a hardcoe anti-divine guy because the jerks overlooked him as the potential 'Tenth.' >:{O~

Let see, he turned Tamriel from a group of waring races into a unified Empire that was then able ot stand against the armies of Akavir.

That is a pretty amazing feat.

He created the Empire and he didnt just ascend to godhood, he mantled an old god to become a god. He didnt just become one out of the blue for heroic feats.

Champion of Cryodill doesnt die. You can meet him in Skyrim...though he/she is much more Scottish/Irish...and crazy :D

And Talos...we conquered all of Tamriel and created the first empire, he's a boss.

Ah now this is interesting :)

Talos did not become a god through sheer power, like for example Mannimarco when he used the Numidium.

Talos is a conglomerate entity of Tiber Septim, Hjalti Early-Beard, Zurin Arctus and probably a few others.
The story of their life, the events and choices they were involved in, so closely mirrored the story of creation that in effect they are one and the same, apart from size.
The ascension comes from this affirmation of creation, this strenghtening of the Wheel.

This road to heaven is called the Walking Way, when you walk the walk of a god until they must walk like you.
Talos is the enantiomer of Lorkhan, a term from chemistry which means mirror image.

This is also why the Thalmor want to remove him from the mythic awareness.
Like the Dwemer their ultimate goal is to escape what they see as the prison of creation, to return to the divinity and endless possibility of the dawn.
Only their methods are very different. Where the Dwemer attempted to turn their entire race into a god, the Thalmor are trying to uncreate the world.
Talos is a pillar, a spoke of the Wheel. His existence affirmates Creation, he is a big giant 'Yes'.
His removal would destabilise the world enough for the Thalmor to attempt to uncoil the dragon and end it.

Even Barenziah said that he has scorching heat in bed. A true god indeed.

There are man aspects of Talos. Wulf, Ysmir, Wulfharth, Zurin. Its all one blob of Shezarr/Lorkhan. Its all rather vague and contradicts itself.

Merari explained it.

Neat how deep the writers have made their lore.

Meeting Talos in a game would probably make me care about him more than just reading about him, though. Plus, if his official accomplishments surpass everything the main protagonists of the last three Elder Scrolls games did/can do, then I might feel less overlooked :3

You meet an aspect of him in http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:A_Lucky_Coin
He has interesting things to say, he talks about the Septim Empire and how it is old and tired, how it wont be around for much longer.
He was right.

Tiber Septim is complicated.
He either was several different people, or he took up many names, or he plotted to have look-alikes take his place at important events or all three.
Zurin Arctus was the Imperial Battlemage, responsible for rebuilding and reactivating Numidium.
He either betrayed Tiber, or Tiber betrayed him or they both betrayed Wulfharth and it is this betrayal that is instrumental in the ascension of Talos as it mirrors the death of Lorkhan.

One of several conflicting histories of what happened can be found inhttp://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:The_Arcturian_Heresy

The Champion became Sheogorath, I dunno what happened to the Nerevarine. As for Dovakhiin he killed/stopped Alduin the World Eater and ended a bloody civil war. I think saving the world and bringing some peace to it qualifies as god matierial int ES universe.

Well, you're more like a Daedra than an Aedra. Aedra don't directly intervene or play a role in the affairs of mortal life. Daedra do. Thats why I agree that Talos should be banned. He became an emperor what more does he want. He may be revered in the eyes of his followers, but his made enemies everywhere, especially in the factions that he conquered. He'll never be worshiped by all.

It's rather essential that he is. Without talos, mundus is doomed to return to cyclical time and the kalpa eating of Alduin once more.(Unless the elves succesfully kill off all of mankind too, in which case they'll be able to completely undo creation and return everything to being et'ada)

Yeah I know that, but no one knows what happened to him afterwards.

Deadra are just Aedra that didn't take part in creating the world.
