Well done the BBC. I can see this being the subject of a Watchdog investigation soon.

"The bigger your save file gets, the slower the game is running, and so it's getting to the point where people who have been playing the game for 20 or 50 hours actually can't play it any more because the frame-rate is so low," said Keza MacDonald, UK games editor at IGN

im skrewed i got like 76 hours of gameplay my file size is like over 9000 mb or kb idk im not good with technical terms >.<.

I find it absolutely disgusting that a game with such issues can even be considered for GOTY let alone win it, really degrades any value whatsoever in these awards and any reviews.

Hopefully more articles like this will bring greater attention to these issues.

Seconded.

I find it hilarious that a company can be considered for that kind of award by releasing a game 30 days prior to the award show. Its like they purposely set it for a release where the amount of review time would be compressed.

If this game was out for 6 months before the GOTY awards I bet things would have been different.

I love the fact that they say they know the game lags and freezes on the PS3 platforms, but its a big issue so we arn't going to be able to address that issue for some time yet. Well thats to bad, but this game has been a struggle to play !! But I am in it for the fun and not the aggravation. Come on Amalur !!!!!!!!

mmmmmmm, world wide frustration....

Good job BBC!

What do you think Bethesda will respond with first:

"We got game of the year!!!" or "Here are the things we are going to fix with this update and here is when you can expect other broken things to be fixed by...."

I know where I would put my money.

Does Anne Robinson still do the BBC's Watchdog? Blimey, just send her round to their offices. Rather them than me!

I agree. In my opinion Naughty Dog should have won it, you only have to look at Uncharted 3 to realize that they have some of the best programmers in the industry. A developer that can't even get a game working properly for everyone on all platforms shouldn't have even been nominated.

Most people realize by now that the VGAs are stupid anyway. They give the awards to the most hyped games or the games published by companies with the biggest wallets, there's no fairness at all.

I agree, UC3 was my GOTY by a country mile. Skyrim is the shoddiest piece of software I've ever seen... I've lost all faith in Bethesda, and I was hugely supportive of them despite their flaws before this debacle. At least you could actually play their previous games, messed up as they may have been. This time around we've shelled out money for a game that might work 3 months after purchase, if Bethesda can be bothered. Not good enough.

I had no doubt that they had to have some kind of team working on testing the game for a time, but six to twelve months and still this many glitches... I really find it hard to believe that with that amount of time they didn't have the testing team reporting the same exact issues posted from purchasers posting here on a daily basis.

How big was the team? How many of them worked on the PS3 version? I understand that the game has an amazing amount of content, but honestly, you have to think they would have worked out 99% of this before releasing it. It's embarassing for them to have the BBC reporting how many issues the game is having. The thing is, I didn't see a quarter of the issues posted on that BBC article. It's a good start though to hopefully wake up all the gaming teams out there that this isn't acceptable.

I play on the PS3. I tried the PC version yesterday for a short period, the graphics were better. I have to say I like the PS3 controls more, my personal preference. I really hope these patches come through very soon. Freezing in a game is just too much to deal with. I know Sony has to test these patches before accepting the patch before release too. This process needs to be worked on. Nobody wants to wait months for a game to be "working properly". The gaming business is the only business I know of that gets away with this. Very sad.
