All the little things that bother you.

Allot of good points here guys... Do you plan on spending as much time in Skyrim as you did in Morrowind and Oblivion? Or do you find that the things that bother are going to prevent your from enjoying this game for extended periods of time?

For sure I am going to play it less, destruction is completely useless i can't even play my favorite character, a pure mage based on destruction spells which I have always done. I'm stuck with melee and it gets boring quick

The entire game. Already uninstalled it and moved on.

The only thing that bothers me about skyrim is the idiots on these forums. I've seen only one post about how amazing the game is. So to all the people [censored]ing about it do what this guy did. :violin:

I'm fighting a dragon in the city, I use a shout and a guard appears and asks me to stop it.... It's making people nervous

Guards don't like to see me shouting :(

My character looks stupid.

Yes. In Oblivion, my character was looking around and smiling at people even, making him or her seem alive and intelligent. In Skyrim my character seems like a dead but colourful statue of Arnold Schwarzenegger that I'm moving around in a world that's strangely enough interacting with it. It makes him look stupid. A few idle animations (like a little bit of looking around, changing facial expressions, scratching his head and so on) on the player character will solve that and make the entire game much more alive.

the little things that bother you

One slight annoyance: No Starter Home.
I wish there would have been at least one shack, with safe storage, for purchase somewhere.
Anywhere.

Being forced to either:
1. Quest
-or-
2. Quest and Level
...just to become eligible for a home (and that as-yet-clarified safe storage) is antithetical to freeform TES play.

A hovel with a bed, wardrobe and chest or two. Make it 2,000 with 850 in upgrades.
A camp with a bedroll, chest and two crates or sacks.
It would have been so simple. Not everyone wishes to play the MQ.

They said there would be a lot larger selection of items to wear since they put greaves and armor together.. however i've only counted a small number of extra pointless faction pieces..

one of the biggest pet peeves in them trying to make it realistic by providing a super glare when looking at bright spots (sunshine, dragon fire) and than trying to "refocus" so you can see correctly..

lack of spells that had no reason to be wiped??

text too small. not everyone can afford a big screen..

I just noticed how there's no hand-to-hand combat skill tree... after 42 hours of gameplay... It pisses me off.

Barely any Bretons. I haven't gotten to western Skyrim yet, maybe there'll be some there?

Lack of Bretons = very serious problem obviously.

  • NPC interaction is just strange. When you talk to an NPC and he/she is walking, they will continue to walk a few more steps until they are about 10 feet away.
  • Some boy in Whiterun palace looked at a guard and kept repeating, "You should leave." ^^
  • Really? Giants give us flight lessons and launch us into orbit?
  • Pickpocket weapons and equipped items off NPCs and they don't know what happened? HA!!
  • Typos and grammar in books.
  • What's with not being able to vault a picket fence? Why can't I pull myself up from the water onto a rock? I'm a stealth character, I should be able to do stuff like this.
  • I have an innate ability to climb near vertical mountains. Using my horse makes it all the better.
  • Yes we all know this, a horse warrior.
  • I can't jump over a small rock. I have to back up and run towards it and jump. Oh yeah, I can't sprint and jump.
  • Following a target. I wait an hour, he is on the other side of the map. The hell?
  • I'm a guild master, but the guildies still greet themselves and don't know my place.
  • We understand that Nord horses are bulkier and not as fast, but what gives that the horse can only gallop for only what, less than 30 seconds? I mean, they have a lot of muscle.
  • Knocking the bow takes way too long. I understand there's a perk to increase the speed, but a master archer should be able to knock with efficiency and speed.
  • Has anyone noticed that when you talk to an NPC and with the first part of the sentence, shadows in the background speed up then go back to normal speed? It's like it's processing information.

PS - Really Astrid? Why?? I liked you.

Sneaking and Pickpocketing should be in the same perk tree. It really killed how I play my thief character. Also the lockpicking skill tree is just pointless. It's like they nerfed pretty much all the thieves gameplay and made other builds stronger instead.

Like others have said, THE FONT IS TOOO DAMN SMALL!!!! And it's not just Skyrim. Are game developers in some sort competition with each other to see who can use the smallest font while selling the most copies? Not everyone has a large high def television!!!!!!! I can't even read the dialogue choices half the time. It's the number one thing that is impeding my enjoyment of the game and dare I say 'immersion.' And it's such a simple thing to have avoided!!! Grrr. /rant

I gotta agree on the small fonts. They really hurt my eyes after 2-3 hours so I have to take breaks.

1. No hotkeying weapons/magic/abilities
2. Can't eat or drink outside of inventory with one button
3. No eat/drink bonus
4. Limited control of companion, be less aggressive, let me go in first
5. Same grayed out dialogue each time I see certain NPCs
6. No lingerie slot
7. No hotkey to go directly to local map
8. Can't remove unfinished quests from quest log (no, I don't want to join them)
9. Can't sell companions inventory in the store chat
10. No dual wield parry or dodge button
11. No buyback(for same price) at shops
12. Everyone wears the same underwear
13. Too many ugly faces and hair
14. Trolls and Mammoths are way more powerful than Dragons
15. Can't mark/note maps
16. Clicking the dialogue can be inaccurate
17. NPCs you kill on mountains/hills keep sliding down like they're lubed up
18. BIG COMPLAINT: Voice volume controls the same loud sounds you make when you fight.
I want to hear dialogue at a higher volume, not the grunts, moans, and screams.
19. Impossible to beat the game peacefully without killing anything.
20. Sneak/dagger is useless in most big fights
21. Map doesn't have icons to show store type
22. Mining is slow

I found a boat near Solitude's lighthouse that you can use, once you kill all the corsairs, that is. Forgot the name of the boat but you can't miss it. They'll start attacking you as soon as you board. Safe storage and beds, Morrowind style.

Well im a Archer and it bugs me that only melee attacks get those slow replay kill things. They need them for stealthy archers aswell!

The people that enjoy the game are playing.

I'm not playing because my roommate is.

And you have to remember, this is TES. People will request mods for ANYTHING, even good points. Them dragons attacking to often? Mod request. Those marriage options not naked enough? There's a mod request. Lydia not meat-shieldy enough? There's a mod request for that.

Edit: I just realized, you were implying Skyrim is bad.

You can't please everyone though. To their credit Bethesda invites this kind of input and is known for encouraging modding (probably partially the reason for such a high number of mod requests). What other developer does that? What they should really get better at is determining which ideas to keep (and thoroughly test) and which ones to throw out.

@Adabar (I'd quote you but your bwahaha is annoying).

MOST of the mod requests are fixes. Here is a SMALL list of mr's mentioned:
Plastic hair, warrior horses, invisible second weapon, water animation (or lack thereof), dialog variety, quest variety, KB/M problems, and that POS they call a UI. title of this thread should be MAJOR things that bother you. I'll be amazed if this gets GOTY over better games. lol

edit: and the terrible items in house bug. Spent an hour putting stuff nice and neat in my house only to leave and come back to EVERYTHING thrown across the room like I myself had been robbed.

The entire UI is a major step backward from Oblivion

Not being able to use a heal spell unless you're armed (this is by far my biggest complaint)

Why only one ring? You have 10 pudgy digits, or DO you Bethesda??

Why only one pendant? Surely your neck is strong enough to hold up at least a couple of measly chains.

You can't wear an enchanted circlet AND a helmet. Again, WHY??

Mning animations are so SLOW!

Quest items still use up your encumbrance

Such low level textures. I'm playing on 360 & have installed the game to the hard drive. Upon looking at how much memory the install uses, I saw it's 3.9gb!!! Oblivion was 5.9gb, surely Bethesda could've used a bit more of the disc or used that technique that id used with Rage where if you install to 360 hard drive it uses both the install AND the disc to improve graphical quality.

I'm aware of the apparent 360 glitch that says if you install the game then there have been reports of a drop in graphical quality. I've uninstalled, run from just the disc but this mkes no difference!

There are other complaints but, for now, I think that's enough!

So far I'm bothered only by the occasional Wall o' Companion and the lack of being able to wear clothes while wearing armor. I miss my damn robes and cloaks and my khajiit suit.

Yea, it'd be nice if the journal had a few more details and yea it'd be nice if Lydia could have her own horsie but those aren't really bothering me at all. It'd be nice if every other NPC didn't have the same voice actor. It'd be nice if I could leave footprints in the snow. Would I like these things? Sure, but are they actively bugging me? No.

-Can't move NPC's!
If an NPC happens to be standing in a doorway YOU CANT GET THROUGH! You should be able to push NPC's just like in Oblivion. However they can move you. I love being pushed all over the tavern be a drunk Nord when I am in mid conversation with another.
Yeah, this is kinda annoying, I thought that havok new thing was supposed to take care of body vs body interactions.
